  • the best

  • just wondering but why is there the scream pic behind?

  • Very awesome song! (I play alto sax as well) I researched a lot of info about him and he was very cool!

-He was born November 25, 1924 and died May 30, 1977 at age 53, from lung cancer.

-"Take Five" was his group's greatest hit.

    -Known as "The Stork"

-played Alto sax and clarinet and also played violin at age 12, but his father forbid it.

    Very cool guy!

  • Edvard Munch + Paul Desmond = Heaven

  • Epic!!

  • Could you upload Squeeze Me by Paul Desmond? Thanks

  • The only reason the drums sound "like an army drummer" is because the poster recorded them rather close, microphone wise, where the version everyone is familiar with was probably recorded from further away, with room ambiance. That then softened the sound of the snare. There is nothing wrong with this drumming. Yeesh. Youtube fucking comments.

  • staccato ?

  • good video and music.I'like.

  • besides that liitle part botherin me, it sounds awesome!

  • it sounds like the piano rhythm is a tad bit off on some parts.like in the beginning on the melody part...idk if that's just ur style or what but it kinda sounds off beat a lil.

  • good but the piano is overpowered by the base.

  • @MagicSteve4 please listen to it with a good headphone. Maybe you can not hear the bass. Perhaps you will change your mind. Let me know possibly you are right. All Jazz for you man!

  • @EnryOnTheKeys dont mind him...

he has just been listening to techno or something like that.

there is a perfect amount of bass.

  • @MagicSteve46 good but your comment is overpowered by your lack of proper spelling.

  • C'mon man Jazz is smooth, you play it like an army drummer.

  • Hello lisladiesman,

No no man! Jazz is beyode any shape or style, jazz is any spontaneous expression and it just depends on who's playing and that is what makes jazz be wonderful!

Leave the jazz to fly! Listen to McCoy and Horace, no just Bill. You will see that jazz is whatever you want!

Stop to make rules, We got enough! If you can do better, do that!

  • @EnryOnTheKeys nope.. he has a point, jazz IS spontaneous but in the sense of improvisation, but it gotta be smooth. you really do play it like an army drummer

  • @seriouslyWeird, This is what jazz is for you. Jazz is much bigger then what you think and what I think! :) If you love that you are doing. This is enough. I LOVE JAZZ! This is enough for me.

  • @EnryOnTheKeys in all honesty, i like your style on the drums man, you made it your own, which is all jazz is about taking something and making yourself happy with it. you do what sounds good to you. its like talking. everyone has a different voice and vocabulary and accents and what not, thats what makes you unique. there are no rules to jazz, its freedom of creation.

    Keep it up!

  • @EnryOnTheKeys you are awesome, let those guys talk, they cant do any better ;3

  • great

  • I have this song in music memory

  • i must learn many stupid old songs names for Musics test >.>looooool

  • Search of Sad saxophone player in paris.

Random dude playing this sone on his sax, awesome and beautiful really.

  • Very Good.

  • just wondering is this your own backing track? i've been looking for one at about this length for ages. wondered if there's any chance you could send me it?

  • superb

  • This would have sounded better if it wasnt too staccato

  • Good one! Thank you! Maybe you wanna listen to it from a proper piano. I know what you mean, but it is hard to get it from an eletronic keyboard. Well, at least for me. :(

  • @EnryOnTheKeys I like it. I say you did a great job.

  • I like this version, and the video with the Scream. It's great!

  • What's up captain super white?

  • very Munch nice ! です.

  • love it

  • *sniff*i'm lovin it xD

  • für alle die deutsch verstehen:das is der verf.....dammt beste jazzsong der jemals gemacht wurde *mit dem feuerzeug überm kopf schwing*^^

  • this is the greatest song in the Jazz-world.(sörry i can't speak english)

  • I really like this song, were playing it in my high school jazz band. I think you had a nice take on it, but it just didnt appeal to me as much as it couldve. A lot of that is because youre rplacing a sax with a piano, which caries a counter melody in the original. Also, I didnt like some of the dissonance gimmicks like at 1:40.

Nevertheless, you do have talent, maybe try to find a song to better fit your talents? And like the prior comment said, dont be so structured. Awesome job though

  • I was practicing this piece today. I like the scales on 2:22.

That being said, it is good to know your scales and practicing but when it comes to improvising you have to let the music speak for you.

Its the difference between a home made meal and a Hot Pocket. Hot Pockets are good, but they're missing the love of a cook.

    >/.

  • Brilliant! Don't listen to the prudes, they can't do any better that's why they judge.

5 stars on the sound quality alone, keep up the great work.

  • nice work

  • awesome, im playing this in my highschool orchestra it sounds great! love the 5/4 beat

  • Thanks to all jazz lovers for the feedbacks. this encourages me to practice more, this wonderful art form(jazz) that the black American people gave to the world.

  • @EnryOnTheKeys

You might want to check again.

Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Pete Fountain, Buddie Rich, to name a few, were not black. Credit where credit is due.

  • wow this rocks:)

  • =] ehhhh :)

  • I have the deepest respect for the entire Dave Brubeck Quartet, but when I later heard Paul Desmonds "Take Ten" it was so refreshing to hear a "new version" improvised of Take Five. You must hear Desmonds modern version done in the jazz/fusion years later after Take Five. You must hear "Take Ten"!.

  • ibas bien en tus sólos de arpegio pero te pierdes... saludos y felicidades...

  • good work :)

i know how to play this song too :P

  • uhhh, nice lines but, a big one:

    you're not swinging, at all

  • @izkack Not a terrible cover, but this is one song that really should be left alone. Noone can duplicate Desmond's phrasing-- esp not on a keyboard. I'll drag out the original when I want to hear it.

  • @izkack This is a point of view. It just depends on what is swing for you. :)

  • you nailed it!

  • Amazing song and perfect playing. May i know where you got the notes from though?

  • Enry... I love this song. Excellent playing! Like the runs and the dissonant chords.

    - jazzspire

  • Thank you very much for your feedback.

  • i like the way Jazziza's singing take five....awesome!

this guy plays kind of average...but the ending sounds interesting

  • I'm a jazz addict and I've heard this song countless times. Let me say Enry, you play this song damn good and I'm bloody moved. Kudos!

  • I've been trying to find this song on saxophone because some people played it at my school and it was awesome, but i'll settle for a really good pianist. I play piano, but not that well :)

  • Excellent as always, Enry, but "The Scream"? Why not, I suppose.

  • Hi Hgclaw,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Why "The Scream"? Well, "Take Five" for me isn't an easy one to communicate through the music. Not because of the harmony neither because it is a 5/4. It's just hard get the right feeling I don't know why. So, perhaps this was my own scream...

    Cheers!

  • Munch is strangely appropriate in a carnivalesque, 5/4 kind of way!

Best to you and keep them coming!
