This is awesome. I just found this today & sent to my Anatomy instructor (department head). Everyone in lab today loved the dialogue: "Is it an esophagus? Not likely" And yes, it does look like just about everything else we've seen this semester... : )
I believe there are two ways to distinguish b/w the vagina and the esophagus: in the surface epithelim of the vagina is very eosinophilic due to glycogen and lactic acid.Besides no glands in the vagina. Thanks!
i can also say, after seeing the videos of PATHOLOGY and HISTO-PATHOLOGY, that you are one of my greatest teachers, and i admit, you are the second. till 3 weeks ago i had only one whom i considered.
wish i knew your name to thank you properly dear Doc.
THANKS for the wonderful series,I've just finished watching all the videos and now, like many others, I can proudly consider you one of my greatest teachers. so thank YOU very much for the effort and for making histology understandable. after that said :P i wanna ask a small question, is there a way to differentiate a vagina from an esophagus (histologically speaking of course :P) using normal H&E stain?! and again thank you very much
Actually, YES!

Wouldn't the epi be lighter in vagina than in the esophagus due to glycogen inclusions? I buy WashingtonDeceit's muscle comment as well, though

probably the muscle surrounding the esophagus would be thicker

i guess the inner muscle for esophagus is circular while the outer muscle is longitudinal...
as for the vagina it's the other way around...
