  • its true, america does need a lot more leaders for parkour. My team and I have been trying to show people the beauty of free running, parkour, and just acrobatics in general to our little town. having parkour in our live is a blessing, people dont realize how amazing it can be. But so far we got a lot of people into parkour, and right there is an accomplishment.

  • dude, your awesome and there is no 13 year old kid better then you man!!

  • ......... i didnt realise he exploited parkour that much, in my oppinion this is a pretty awfull explination of parkour or freerunning =/

  • Lets make jewelry, lets not

  • ok what about situations such as fitting through a gap that is very small that a car cannot fit but it is quite a squeeze.

there are going to be many situations in life where you need to be efficent to solve a problem. this could be picking up a bag of shopping or carrying a person out of a burning building.

these are some examples of problem solving yes i could name better ones but with parkour your developing skills that are going to be useful to your trainning

  • Also, point a to point b could just be from one side of the rail to the other, or from the bottom of a wall to the top of the wall. He thinks you have to be running throughout the entire city in order to be doing parkour. You can chill at one spot all day, and still be doing parkour. However, i do think that free runnning is just the more creative side. Parkour is your foundation, your cat leaps, precisions, while freerunning is your way of adding your own flair to those moves.

Great descriptions of Parkour and Free Running! I believe Ryan did not mean Parkour was literally "obsolete", just the academic definition of it (i.e. the most efficient way to get from pint A to B possible) was to narrow for him. Because he is a traceur/freerunner who performs and choreographs. Keep those thoughts coming. I dig the passion and intellect!

  • Ehh, I don't really agree with him calling parkour "obselete". He said if we wanted to be efficient we would just "drive to point b." which is true in alot of cases but you cannot drive EVERYWHERE. Eventually you have to get out of your car. And also, cars have been around since before the creation of parkour, so if something is obselete upon creation, doesn't that make it worthless? In a way he just called parkour worthless.

  • Parkour's practice is obsolete? Parkour is a cool word? We should follow, but not follow, lead, but not lead? We need clothing lines? We need to be living off of Parkour because other's live off of sports? Society is screwed and it's because we are separating ourselves from the useful, putting shield's around the important things in life. In this explained case the movement and practice of Parkour. Suggesting that we concentrate of things other than the practice to create involvement is wrong.

Thanks for posting your thoughtful response. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you wrote, you make some valid points, and do so articulately. Bullettrun does not endorse one view over another. The purpose of posting these interviews/videos is to showcase the diverse Parkour community and encourage productive dialogue. Feel free to post your own video response to this interview. I will be happy to publicize any and all thoughtful responses. Thank you!

  • so many things with this i totally disagree with..................
