"Life" in Russia has pretty much remained unchanged dispite the form of government. Be it Tsarist, Communist or Democratic, if you have money (Oligarcy, Government, Mafia) life is good. If you don't your a peasent and life is shit. So no, for the average person in Russia, life sucked just as much under Communism, as it does now, as it did under the Tsar. Soviet Communism was evil for a whole other reason altogther basically because of what Stalin created.

Where as Stalin did do some great things for Russia, and is deserving of at least comedic admiration, I wouldn't go so far as to call him the greatest man in Russian History, an honor which is by far more disserving to Nevsky, Ivan the "Awesome", Peter the Great, or Marshall Zukoff (the true victor the Great Patriotic War). The fact that you would call stalin the Greatest Man in Russian History is entirely the point of my piece... it is exactly how he wanted to be portrayed. Thanks though.

Seriously, your missing the point. Stalin went to GREAT lengths to suppress the knowledge of the attrocites he committed. We know he committed great attrocites as they are well documented, however no film exists of these attrocites to my knowlege. If you can provide footage of political prisioners being exicuted by firing squad, or footage of the numerous interigations within the Gulag, then maybe you'd have a point. Till then your just a stalinist insulted by the truth of the matter.

This video has convinced me to take Russian history in university. I firmly believe that Stalin is misunderstood. He was a friend of the people, he built Russia into a superpower, something Lenin or Trotsky could have never done. They didn't have the guts to do it. And building Russia into a superpower saved them from the great German invasion in 1941.
