  • The blue shirt guy behind at 1:05 talking to the girl "Yeah, I can totally do that"

  • son of a bitch actually did it. DAMN.

  • how much weight is it

  • nucking futs !!

  • i always measure weight not in pounds but by the weight of a lion in pounds...so this man power cleaned 1 lion for a set of 2

  • Holy fucking shit.

  • that bar is GIANT

  • Ill admit that that has got to be so harrrrd on his back, but @#*(#&@*(( that is AMAZING STRENGTH!!!!

  • That is fucking insane... kudos!

  • this just blew my mind

  • he's overhead pressing 4 small people right there

  • I don't understand. Why didn't he just clean it to his chest instead of lifting it with that funky mixed grip and then changing it on his chest.

  • @Rustpuke it's very difficult(close to impossible) to clean it normally when the bar is that thick and the weight is that heavy.

  • Derek is the man

  • Great job derek.I'am a big fan.Keep up the good work. hotroderowensby.

  • damn that's crazy but bad form he coulda really injured his back

  • @tehrunescapefreak how is that bad form? Everybody puts the weight on their belly, then up to their chest. That is how you do it when it's a Million pounds and an axle at that.

  • i was expecting to see some deadlifts.. this is fuckin INSANE!

  • Absolutely incredible strength. Just unreal. Cmac1000rr, you should use more compassion in choosing your words. That is a terrible adjective to use as people who have the misfortune of being born with mental defincies did so through no fault of their own. You look like a moron using that term. Please, stop.

  • what.......the fuck

  • @13andincrediblycut no u cant

  • lol and i thought i was cool cuz i deadlifted that much for 6 rebs. and here he is LIFTING IT OVER HIS HEAD!!!!!!!!! I hate you Derek!! LOL JK

  • i would love to his mri of lower back

  • Fuckin' awesome!

  • Wow that was the most impressive thing I've seen a human do.

  • Derick is going to win what ever his goal is.

  • ohh my god :D thats strenght

  • wtf is all i gotta say jeez

  • Tank.

  • my back hurts just watching this..

  • FAAAAARK!!!!!!!! this guys been eatibg his weaties!!!

  • by no means am i saying thats not impressive, its fucking amazing. But is that form not really dangerous, looks like he might throw his back out. I'm into bodybuilding and dont know a whole lot about strong man so can someone let me know?

  • @spacemonkey789 Bending ones back with thick strongman axle is unavoidable when hitting really big numbers. Even a former olympic lifter, Mikhael Koklyaev, does nowadays his cleans that way with a log since it allows you to support the bar in the middle of the lift -- a bit like thigh support in the deadlift. But yes, it puts enormous pressure to your lower back, but they are ready to take that risk in order to get a few more kilos on the bar.

  • @epaluoma Thanks man, i knew there was a reason for it, well just because hes a professinal.

  • @spacemonkey789 It's all been said - but yes, of course there is some danger involved, and people who do strength sports (powerfliting, olympic lifting, strongmen, etc) do cause damage to themselves (both short and long term). It is impossible to move these kinds of weights without putting the body under immense stress. As for this guy 'putting his back out'- unlikely do to the thick barrel of muscle supporting his spine/midsection, but what he's doing is definitely not good for his spine!

  • @dirtrail Everybody should know that Derek does have/has had very severe problems with his back but he fought to recover and is one of the strongest in the world. If his back could be 100% he would be the best.

  • just the grip strength involved in cleaning that thing is insane, wtf

  • omfg this fool i s huge

  • omg i got fuckin goosbumps, this is truly amazing

  • does anyone know how i can get some information bout starting off in a strongman competition????or how to start in one

  • they say that those bars are the size of a coke can hes got strength and a good grip

  • damn that's like 180 kilos, top weightlifters can do like 240 kg but that's with technique. Damn this guy is strong

  • Holy Cow!!!

Anyone know this guys height and weight?

  • @Michlimania He's 6'1-6'2 and 310-325 depending if hes trying to gain weight for a comp

  • Now that is hardcore!!!!

  • Look at the poor lady behind him sitting on the leg extension machine lol.

  • One big dude! His arms are bigger than the whole of that camera man !

  • wow hes a strong buggar isnt he?

  • ебаться!

  • agreed. i tryed to power clean 200 the other day and almost had it. this guy cleaned 400 then put it over his head twice. this shit is un real!

  • lol i give him props cuss its a shit load of weight i just dont know if i could use tht form and get 135lbs lol

  • most just don't understand how sick this is. unreal.

  • @mastermaybe absolutely everyone who realy knows what it means, would go like ...wtf!!!!! insane strength!!!

  • @mastermaybe this is just so bad for his back..... but last week in the gym a saw a guy do 425 for 2 reps and got the 3rd half way up.... and yeah that along with derek is just super str.

  • awesome

  • curling is difficult to do a huge weight because its on freaking muscle where a deadlift is a ton of different. if you compare curling to deadlifting, you need to quit lifting. deadlifting is the most important motion therre is in strength athletics, curling is for pretty people

  • @MicFrosty88: The Reason why curling is the most difficult in strength training is becuase it utilizes no auxillary muscles in support of the bicep muscles. Only the biceps muscles are the only muscles that are doing the lifting.

  • exactly, thats why im saying your statement of curling and deadlifting a 200lb dumbell is irrelevant. No doubt doing a large weight is hard when curling, but its no where near as important as just about anything else

  • Completely incorrect. The only "isolation exercise for biceps" would be on a spider bench, or something else that takes out ALL momentum and involvement of the surrounding musculature. Even in a concentration curl you use your aterior deltoid, your traps, and to some extent your rhomboids and gripping muscles. Sure, you'll make your arms bigger, but not without the big three. You'll wear out your elbows AND shoulders from repetitive stress if you focus on that.

  • This was to MicFrosty

  • Hey, dick kid? You can deadlift by using you arms only. Have you ever heard of the "snatch" in deadlifting?

  • Of course I have. Do you even know how it is performed? Go watch a video of a person doing the clean and jerk, and then you come back here and tell me; is it possible to do it with your arms only? Dumbass.

  • I meant the "snatch," not the "clean and jerk."

  • Now go watch a video of a person doing the snatch and then you come back here and tell me; is it possible to do it with your arms only? The answer is NO.

  • Bet you want to suck that Gorillas dick. Fucking cocksucker.

  • Afther you suck my dick, can I fuck your asshole?

  • You sound an awfully lot like a faggot.

  • Comment removed

  • As a matter of fact, I have a life, and I have no problems with getting laid. But at least I'm not the one asking others if I can fuck their asshole.

  • Says who? Your mother?

  • I say that. And by bringing my mother into this discussion, you just lost.

  • I actually won Kid, becuase I and your mother are going to have a splendid time together!

  • Oh, that sounds nice. But it's never going to be better than the sex I had with YOUR mom last night. I gotta tell you, she's wild in the bed!

  • Comment removed

  • I think you need to get a fucking life, when all you do is comment on Derek's videos saying that a gorilla will outlift him. Fucktard.

  • You are gay plus a retarded kid who can't get laid becuase females find you androgynous and unattractive, both mentally and physically.

  • Why do you keep calin he a gay when you're the one asking me if you can fuck my asshole? Just shut the fuck up. I think you're the one who needs to get laid :)

  • Hey, dick kid? A silverback gorrila is 4x stronger than Derek Poundstone. Tell Derek to drag an 800 lbs log 10 yards--something a 450 lbs. silverback gorrila can do.

  • Hey, idiot? What the fuck has that got to do with anything? Nothing at all! If you're so inspired by gorillas, then go watch a video of one. Stop posting idiot comments like this.

  • Hey, dick kid? As your unintelligence ass can see in this video, Derek Poundstone struggled to deadlift 400 lbs at the stomach area, as seen by his face expression--something Ron Coleman or Scot Meldenson wouldn't have any problem in doing so.

  • Well, if that's the case, then why don't you show me a video of it? And while you're at it, find a video of Mendelson lifting an 500 lbs atlas stone. Good luck!

  • @Jerrime2009 Are you crazy? Your comment made no sense.

Poundstone is 1000X stronger than Coleman.

  • @Feon2 it seems hes not 1000 times stronger coleman and he did the same wheigt at the deadlift.

  • @pickelamarsch,

You are WRONG. Coleman only did 2 reps of 800 in the deadlifts, while Poundstone did 9 reps of 800 in the deadlifts.........BIG DIFFERENCE!

Also, there is NO WAY that Coleman can axle press 405 like the way Poundstone did.

    Ronnie Colemans strength is overrated!

  • @whosayswho i think for a bb colemans strength is ok :-) bit i cant find the vid where poundstone lifts it 9 times i just find one where he lifts it one time, can you link the vid please?

  • Hey, dick kid? All it is just a comparison between who's the strongest between a gorrila and a human--nothing stupid at all. Also, it goes to show anyone, why gorrila can be stronger than the strongest man on earth.

  • looks like you dont know nothin about strength !! scot meldeson i only a bench presser !! a strong man like derk can lift 500 pounds stons ,pull 20000 lbs trucks and he got speed !

  • Hey, dummy? If Derek Poundstone can lift a 500 lbs atlas stone like your bitch-ass wrote, then why can't he bench press 500 lbs? Ryan Kennelly and Scot Meldenson would eat him up in strength events!

  • Omfg, are you retarded or something? What has lifting a 500 lbs atlas stone to do with bench pressing 500 lbs? NOTHING. But get your facts straight bitch, Derek CAN bench press 500 lbs. There's a video of him doing 2 reps at it.

  • Arm strength you dummy! If you can lift then no matter what way you lift, rather if it's benching or deadlifting, you should be able to lift the same amount of weights. You dumbass no nothing about strength training!

  • And you're telling me I know nothing about strenght training? Du you think arm strength is a big part of a deadlift? Wow, you really are stupid. Ryan Kennelly and Scot Mendelson are bench pressers. I sertainly don't think any of them can lift an 500 lbs atlas stone. I doubt they are very good at squats or deadlifts either.

  • Hey, dick kid? Arm strength test a person't true strength level, becuase it is part of our anatomy we uses the most. For example, we don't lift things with our legs as much as we do with our arms, so by focusing more on the arms, they give an idea of how strong a person is. Go back to your Physiology and Anatomy classes you failed so miserbly in.

  • You don't have to adress me as dick kid every time you comment, I know your responding to me. Well, if that's the way it is, why don't they perform biceps curls and dumbbell extensions at strenght events then?

  • Yea, one could need his or her hamstring, stomach, and shoulder muscles to become auxillaries of his or her arm to help support lifting or dragging very heavy objects. But if one can use those auxillaries the least or not at all, but let the arms do the complete lifting, will go to show how truely strong that person is.

  • no,arm strenght tests arm strength nothing else. There is no true test of overall strength but the clean and push press comes close.A persons ability to deadlift has nothing to do with deadlifting, every muscle is different.Any half decent lifter could deadlift 500 lbs

  • Yes, arm strength only tests the arm. But arm strength shows how commonly and truely strong a person is, becuase it is the part of the body that's used the most.

  • you are trying to say that arm strength is highly correlated to overall body strength, which it isnt. The arm muscles are small compared to trunk and leg muscles so arent going to have as much effect in sport .Strength athletes devote very little time to arm muscles directly, apart from bodybuilding which isnt a sport.

  • oh really? walking legs, if you pick something up you don't curl it normally a person who doesnt want a spine like a reverse C would bent legs and use there back to pick things up in general if you think "your arms are the most used thing" then you are ignorant to what goes on in everyday life.

  • Really Jerrime... do you walk on your arms? You use your legs the most if you GO anywhere... unless you are a fat kid on his parents computer all day.

  • or 500lbs is alot of weight... just because poundstone makes 405 look like a toy , 500lb is still damn heavy and impressive. Are you making the distinction between the exercise of deadlifting and lifting deadweight? I would agree completely because that is a measure of power, not strength.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger sponsors a Strongman event every year. He says he like to see the "big monsters" lift ridiculous weights. That's how different bodybuilding and Strongman is, and Arnold is THE quintessential bodybuilder. Show me a bodybuilder who curls 300 and I'll show you a map to El Dorado. "Curling" is NOT important in COMPOUND movements. The name implies JUST THAT!

  • If Ryan Kennelly and Scot Meldenson can lift over a whooping 1,000 lbs with spotters (something I would love to see Derek Poundstone even try to do!), then what make you think that they wouldn't have any problem in deadlifting 500 lbs? If one can bench an extreme amount of weights, then one wouldn't have any problem in deadlifting an extreme amount of weights, since benching weights is much harder than deadlifting weights--curling weights is the hardest amongst strength training.

  • Kennelly and Mendelson are some of the best benchpressers in the world, and there's no wonder Derek can't outlift them at that. But when it comes to functional strength, which Derek is all about, he will totally crush them. And why are you saying that a person who can benchpress 1000 lbs wouldn't have any problems with deadlifting 500 lbs? Where do you get that from, idiot?

  • if you think that curling is half as intense as deadlifting is you are entirely retarded

  • @Cmac1000rr if he curled 405 it wouldve been more intense:) lol

  • @IAmJohnzor Only Bill Kazmaier has ever curled that much.

  • scot meldenson is a bench presser he is more stronger onn the bench press but when i comes to functional streinght derk is stronger !!

  • incredable

  • how in the hell does hossein reza zadeh clean and jerk 580 lbs?

  • clean and jerk is different to press

  • crazy strength

  • This is serious strength. Amazing man. Even more impressive that you could hold that much weight at chest level while switching grips.

Although wouldn't it of been easier just to do a clean and press with the correct grip from the start or to do the press in a power cage where you could just unrack the bar? Seems like a lot of unnecessary work to deadlift the weight up, hold it at chest level, switch grips, etc..

    Either way, awesome strength!

  • This is pretty much training an exact move for the competition. On the Apollon's Axle, which is the he is training, a lifter often has to start each new rep from the ground. And as far as doing a clean and press with the correct grip, the axle is much thicker than a normal olympic bar. I probably couldn't even pull 405 with a mixed grip and chalk. But yeah, the reason he does that this way is to become better at a specific event.

  • holy shit..i thought he's gonna do some deadlifts..fucking shit..he get it over head!!

    respect man

  • if he trains hard for another 5 years he will beable to press as much as the big Z. great guy though i like him alot very strong and very genuin

  • That's crazy strength.

  • shit son

  • he is a monster

  • That...is freeking awesome!

  • how old is he?

  • 27. Amazing, huh?

  • amazing shoulder stability with that kind of weight....holy shit

  • AHH HELL I thought he was gonna do a deadlift !!

  • Amazing shoulder strength, cant wait to watch WSM and Fortissimus this year.

  • how do you feel with this new weight your carrying around?

  • hes the worlds strongest man, has a gf a house and a full time job, hes a modern day superman.

  • and hes a cop.

  • yea hes full time cop in naugy... dudes a beast!!! i train in the same gym he does and hes got the complete package in every lift.. no weak points, and hes a real nice guy too

  • does he train at retro fitness it looks like a retro fitness. i have retro fitness's by me are you guys from new jersey?

i have no doubts in my mind that Derek is the STRONGEST human being alive on this planet. THE STRONGEST. he axled 414 easier than others axled 409 and most couldn't even get 409. i was impressed that Mikhail or however you spell his name almost cleaned 409 instead of doing the continental clean. don't know how he would have pressed it or switched to the mixed grip.

  • seriously ? man thats just incredible

  • Beastly. Great work. Keep the videos coming!

  • Hey Derek, the first rep was really a "shoulder rep" ! Nice. Shoulder strength at its best.

    Your clean was super good.

  • great stuff derek thank for these videos

  • Wow - you all most had the clean in one motion!!

  • Awesome power, 5*.
