  • tennho q decorara isso td:( .... mundo q ve esse video ingles entre outras ninguem sabe o q eu disse hahahahhahah

    [

  • I did this 6 years ago and still remember it (:

  • I did heian shodan 9 years ago. :)

  • todo esta echo de 10 pero el saludo tiene la mirada baja

    :D

  • is impossibol !

  • i am grading to my yellow belt and at the exams i was sent graded blue belt : )

  • I'm a ninja and what is this?

  • i remember whne i waas on this kata im on Tekki Shodan

  • Sadly this is what kata I'm stuck on :)

  • bom esse eo 1° kata no estilo heain shodan se prestar atencao ele começa num ponto e volta nele mesmo sem olhar . . .

    esse demorei pra aprender^^

  • Milano Sensei was not the one who brought shotokan to U.S. the original shotokan was brought to US by Ohshima Sensei. However, nishiyama Sensei was the one who brought shotokan jka to US. And after that jka started sending its instructors all over the world and Mikami Sensei was one of them.

  • First of all, do not compare shotokan to kyukoshin. Shotokan is about engaging body dynamics. They are two different styles. Oyama the founder of kyukoshin was a student of funakoshi. Second of due to the fact that this kata requires a great amount of body vibration, performing it properly is a challenging task. Kanazawa Sensei is a great technician and highly respected.

  • Chiều nay thi rồi, cố lên! Head&shoulder!

  • bài quyền đẹp wa'! K49CLC1,2 cố lên! =))

  • Kyokushin is better

  • @Dydyfel than heian shodan? lol

  • I did this for a year, enjoyed the work out but thought the discipline was over the top and people took it far to seriously. I've since heard it's more serious than other styles.

  • @TheAndroid10 sou faixa amarela em karate

  • Eu começei a fazer karate agora e já aprendi os movimentos do Heian Shodan, mas eu ainda tenho que treinar muito e aperfeiçoar os movimentos.

  • same i am grading next tuesday to blue belt but my sensi said i might double grade

  • I know all Heian katas, I am blue belt

  • Sub-Zero's fighting style.

  • reseia da da

  • JustRock09 Sensie Mikami was actually the one who brought Shotokan to the US. I could be wrong but thats what i have learned but i dont know everything and am always up for correction

  • Padus is right. All those arts are better in those respects than Karate. A good boxer would beat a good Karate guy. (I know, I wasted 15 years doing Karate.) And MMA brings together all those elements and takes pretty much nothing from Karate.

  • thepadus.. what a dumbass.. im sure you dont know anything about martial arts. you just named 4 different styles.. boxing really isnt even a style, the only difference in muay thai and karate is knees and elbows, karate has really nothing to do with grappling, and wing chun? lol you watched IP man too many times.

  • Karate straight punch DO NOT generate maximum potential damage. In simple words- karate sucks. Muay Thai kick stronger then karate. boxers punch stronger then karate, jiujitsu/judo graple better then karate and wing chun blocks better then karate. All these statements are testet, calculated and proved. Basically there is no point in learning karate since karate isnt best at anything

  • @ThePadus

LOOOOOL, if we consider your ridiculous skills, you're surely right.

  • @ThePadus Let's see if you are right. You say Muay Thai kick is better then the Karate kick. You are right because they train very much the legs. Now ask yourself if a Muay Thai fighter is better then a Karateka in hand fighting and blocking... answer is no. In Muay Thai there is no discipline as in Karate. Muay Thai: strong legs, weak at deflecting and punching. I can't beleive that you put Boxing in the same category. A few low kick from any other fighting style puts the boxer in his place.

  • @ThePadus As for "Jujutsu"and Judo... it seems that you don't really have any idea what Karate is. All that represents japanise martial arts is named Karate. Now Jujutsu and Judo are japanise martial arts. That means that they are in fact Karate. Moving on. So you now in the future chinesse martial arts are named Kung Fu wich contains the Wing Chu. Wing Chu is really a good fighting stile but it laks force. It is a very fast fighting style wich trains very much on speed and grappling the target.

  • @ThePadus I practice Shotokan and can't really say witch fighting style is better right now. After a few ears i'm going to train in Wing Chu also as that was a very big part of Bruce Lee's fighting style. Please, next time you want to make a comment on something first get some intel on what you want to say or ask.

  • @ThePadus Wonder why boxing has better punches...Maybe because boxing only involves punches so it only makes sense. Doesn't mean Karate sucks. Wonder why Muay Thai has better kicks...Maybe because it focuses on kicks while karate does a mix or arms and legs. Doesn't mean karate sucks. Same goes for judo and jujitsu. I can't believe you put boxing on the same level as the other martial arts. Next time make sure you know what you're talking about BEFORE you make a jackass out of yourself.

  • The guy does the kata almost perfect.. and cosmicduck I was taught to throw the punches to the solar plexus area.. and technically there aren't any strikes or blocks.. just simple movements of your body, and with kime you can generate alot of force. My sensei made me do this kata for 9 months before passing me. not because I suck, but because there are so many hidden elements (hinte) in kata that take time to understand, I kick ass at the kata, and i will be more than happy to post a video of me

  • @kingjoe0207 This guy is a 10DAN master. His name is Hirokazu Kanazawa and all of his movies are from waaaaay back when he was young and able. He is a freacking legend.

  • i love how everyones being a douche to this guy and saying he sucks when hes probly better then like 95% of us. if its that bad go to a diff video and quit complaining

  • This guys actually not that great, he moves his hand up whilst punching and has his elbow way to low (instructor of Shotokan)

  • @C0SMICDUCK Sorry, but you would not be an Instructor of Shotokan if it wasn't for him. He is the guy responsible for bringing Shotokan to the US, UK, Egypt, and other countries. Secondly, he is the direct student of Gichin Funakoshi. There is no way you can correct him! His elbow are low for power. In Shotokan we use our muscles to pull our hikite back for power. He moves his hand while punching because there is a thing in our system called "harmony of hands" you should know that!

  • I would stand in line for this!

  • I know the kata is both of those, but I would have thought he would do a higher level of the kata. All of his stances are white-belt and very good, but I would just imagine him using lower, quicker, and more powerful stances. And for all you who are testing.... "You get out of kata what you put into kata" - Funakoshi Sensei

  • well,that's correct and nice

    Oss

  • thanks to this im gonna pass my yellow belt test

  • He doesn't pause at Kanku, at all in the kata.

  • wow i'm really impressed how accurately he stepped in relation to the tape on the ground and finished exactly where he started. this is the same form as pyung ahn sho dan in tang soo do (my style) which is derived largely from shotokan. very nice form. its interesting to note the subtle differences in the way kata are performed from style to style

  • I have to do this Kata for my red belt grading this sunday, hope I pass! :)

  • @BlueWolf1993x good luck!

  • @sifujamie Thankyou :)

  • may i ask an expert? how the fudge im supposed to remember all the moves? im new to all of this (white belt) 2nd day

  • @imonars if you are knew to karate you won't be expected to know your kata for several months at least. That said keep in mind that there are only five moves in Heian Shodan so don't let it overwhelm you.

@TurbosHonda the best answer is that when it comes down to it you are the grade your sensei tells you to train at. There are differences between Shotokan and Kenpo which is what USSD trains at but your instructir may feel that USSD is close enough. Ask him

  • @naraiceylob right.. because yesterday they taught me Jodun / shodun / geydan.. and the default stance.. idk what's it's called and the figthing stance where you put ur left arm down and ur right arm at ur waist

  • @imonars practice lol i remember being a white belt and i understand your position. I know it seems simple, but practice. Also, observe very carefully when they perform the katas. If you have to observe it a million times then go on ahead. What I did as a beginner was memorize 1/4 of it and then perform it. When I felt comfortable that i knew it for sure, I memorized the 2/4 of the kata and so on. Hope this helped :D

  • gostou ate pq eu luto karate e estou na faixa amarela

  • i used to be a student at ussd but in november im starting shotokan i was blue belt/green stripe and i dont know if i keep my rank or not

  • @TurbosHonda : usually there are no "striped" belts in shotokan, so far as i know... i suggest your grade is about 5th kyu in your former style (if there are kyu-grades?), which would be similar to blue-belt in shotokan. But still, the belt should represent your experience in the actual style that u are practicing. So I would start with white again...

  • This really helped thanks!!

  • @mann2411 well thanks for the way you think.OSS!!

  • im a white belt and im practising this for my test and i always forget when your at the four last moves to cover your ears when your swiping but this video has been helpful because my sensi didnt really show me step by step just said do it and all my class mates did it perfect and i was like what but now i get, oso

  • This Is My KATA I Already Perfected It!!!! My Exam Is Maybe September 17,2011 or September 25,2011!! By The Way Great Performance!!!! And What Dan Are You?Im Only White Belt. Thank You For The KATA Performance!!! OSS!!!!!

  • @GingaUchiha1233 no offence but there are people who have been doing this kata all their lives and still don't have it perfected, understanding that is part of your karate training. Best of luck for your exam :)

  • maravillosa kata

  • this guy is terrible, he can't even cancel into a tatsu

  • grax me sirvio mucho de ayuda

  • they teach me this kata in my karate class! i am 9 years old and i go to midwest karate

  • @dodongkee Is that Fusaro Sensei? I learned the same kata there 15 years ago. Enjoy your training.

  • Wado Ryu's Nidan.........I'm going to learn shotokan soon. My sensei won't teach us Wado but we'll learn this instead.

  • its so funny how wanna be martial artists come and comment on this thinking they know what they are talking about

  • i remember the kata :D

  • Arguing over which martial art is better like arguing over which sex position is better....it depends on the individuals in question.

  • chupa que e de uva

  • maneiro tenho 11 anos e fasso karate a algumas semanas e meu senpai ta cobrando este kata com esse video consegui fazer tudo certinho

  • well yeah i knew that, but what i mean is what is another martial art like kobudo, cause well they are related,it was a way for the people to defend themselfs useing farming tools, what im askig is what is a bladed weopon thats related to this

  • Ryu's fighting style.

  • can someone help me. i know how to do the shotokan but i cant remember it step by step and if i dont learn quick then i cant go from a white belt to a yellow belt. is there a easy way to memorize this?

  • @crazyconan28 uh... practice? I'm not sure exactly what your question is, but if you're just concerned about learning the moves right, the only way is to learn from a good teacher, and then practice your butt off on your own. If you mean is there an easy way to get better at it, my answer is the same: practice your butt off. There is no shortcut in martial arts. It takes hard work and effort on a continuous basis.

  • @UnusualNova thanks for the advice. the problem is that i only have a hour a week of training with my mentor and i know that is not enough. if i had more days for my class or a training partner it would be easier to practice but practicing alone is hard when im trying to learn the heian shodan.

  • @crazyconan28 where are ya from (country ;p ). i stopped with karate a few years ago ( and regret it alot) but i pln on starting again, could use a partner if we don't live to far away from eachother, pretty surei could help you out a bit and you will probably help me to t get things back in order a bit ^^

  • @xtr33msk1ll probably not because im only 14 and your 21. it would be better to get a training partner in the same age group.

  • @crazyconan28 true enough :) good luck with your training =)

  • @crazyconan28 depends im 16 and usually train with 20 +ers simply because there arn't alot of 16 yo's my size

  • @xtr33msk1ll i stopped with tae kwon do but that doesnt mean you cant still practice unless you stopped early then you should go back but i am black belt in tkd no degrees or stripes just plane black i had to leave because of moving but i practice it every day and do bruce lees work out. soon im joining shotokan im just checking out how it is before i call lol cant wait!

  • im just wondering...are there any knife like weopons that are used in karate?or somkind of striking tool that fits in the hand?somone please get back to me on this

  • @MRBONKERS1000 no its kinda like a exersise.

  • @MRBONKERS1000 No, you will mainly see rubber knives, guns, etc in training for disarming the aggressor, and you may be surprised to find out how easily a weapon can be reversed on its user if one knows what they are doing.

    Hope this helps

  • @MRBONKERS1000 weapons are for cowards

  • @MRBONKERS1000 Karate means empty hand. It was originally developed to fight people with weapons, when the Karateka was unarmed. It started in Okinawa where the Japanese repressed the Okinawans and forbid weapons in case of revolt. Karate came as the answer to the repression :)

  • @MRBONKERS1000 Yawara; not used much anymore, but sometimes you'll see them on keychains and such.

  • If sum1 hits u just hit them bk 1000 times harder

  • im learning gendai shotokan karate. its very similar but with a modern twist to take account of this day of age fighting. im only white belt but loving it all! and feel experienced already!!

  • Mto bom.. Karate shotokan =D

  • i like martial arts it is as i was taught my way of life i am currently learning heian shodan

  • i love this martial arts :) <3

  • i lorn the heian shodan in the moment!! xD

  • to learn karate is to learn not to fight, you must never use karate on another human being, not unless absolutely necessary.to learn karate is learn of your body's potential, and to learn to fear that potential when misused, it can be of great evil when misused. so learn to understand it. oss

  • RESPECT!! OSS!!

  • *thought

  • So this is the Japanese Legend Sensei Kanazawa. I never thoughy this is the legend guy.

  • @mental24fox I saw him in person whe he came to Romania for a seminar. He's really old now and moves like an old grampha but when he started to show us hits and kicks... man ooo man he summoned great powers and speed. He has his 10DAN's for a good reason, beleive me.

  • hey guys !!!!kata looks like a dance but it isnt!!this moves are coded !!in japan the used to do these beacause pour people used to learn shotokan karate, etc and the moves they were doing could kill!and thats the reason the have been doing a series of moves and now it looks for the people that the are not doing karate, like a dnace!!!!!

  • OMG, this video reminds me lot of great memories from my childhood when my sensei teach me for the time this kata, karate is a great martial art., for me one of the most beautiful kata is kanku dai.

  • In my opinion he needs to learn how to breath with his movements not after

  • We do the same in tang soo do

  • Nice video! Do you have a video of Taikyoku Nidan too?

  • Anyone knows the guy performing he seems very good at it the way he concentrates and performs the moves...

  • Beast Mode

  • Shotokan karate is a way of life like the first guy said. It teaches you discipline and camaraderie. Learning how to defend yourself just comes with it all. It's not about violence like most of the stereotypes.

  • @xxands93 Congratulations (I don't mean that sarcastically), I do quite like Kanku Dai also but my point was all the fundamentals of karate exist in Heian Shodan because performing complicated movements doesn't guarantee good karate. It is because Heian Shodan is technically very basic that it is a difficult and great kata in my opinion.

  • @xxands93 I find this probably the hardest and most useful kata in the syllabus, especially when you start learning more complex kata. It's so fundamental and so basic it shows what your karate really is, like the SKI 3rd kyu grading syllabus; the kihon is almost exactly the same as 9th kyu. I think kata should be performed not just with the body, but the mind and spirit as well and If someone can't appreciate this kata for what it is then they probably need to go back and work on it again.

  • @xxands93

I seriously agree:) it took me 4 days to learn it

  • thanks, this really helped me! Im on orange belt!! I had grading last sunday and I managed to get double graded up to red belt, however I made a mistake and failed, I am now back to orange belt :D

  • guys listen... im a first brown in shotokan karate... and i still have to go over this a ton!!! once you learn a kata you get good at it... you dont just go on to the next one

  • Ryobu KAIIII RULEZ !! JRK VENEZUELA.

  • i got this baby down haha i can't wait to hian shodan someone one of these days

  • 10

  • His power in form is incredible. It's inspiring thinking of the training and dedication it must have taken to memorize all of these forms with such solid technique. Although I study many styles, Shotokan will always be home for me! Osu!

  • wow

  • Oh my goodness! I used to do this when I was 7. I feel all nostalgic seeing this now! haha!

  • I kind of get tired when people talk about which martial art is best. in most martial arts you learn how to kick, punch and/or do holds, how well you are able to use them has everything to do with your own skill and mentality and less about which martial art you practice.

  • @dfolkeparti Absolutely. A friend of mine remarked that the most important thing karate does is teach you the basics of how to punch and block - beyond that, it's largely a question of your own strength and agility.

Having done freestyle with people from boxing, kickboxing, MME and other things, I can say they all interlink fairly well, and it's your individual innovation, rather than the techniques of your discipline, that give you the upper hand.

  • My dad taught this karate for 20 plus years and had his own dojo, It's the best

  • ich danke dir XD du hast mir mir dem Video echt geholfen^^ jetzt bekomme ich die Kata sicher besser hin^^

  • It just seems ridiculous to ask whether this guy could win a street fight. His martial weapons are clearly intense, and I really can't imagine how they wouldn't work extremely well on the average moron. In fact, I would bet that this guy would spend most of his time just getting out of the way of some incompetent 'street fighter', trying NOT to hit him, just to avoid legal problems.

  • how can you download the video????

  • OMG I just started doin shodan and it aaammmaaazziiiinnnnngggg i have my testing in 2 months nervous

  • @NoMercie13 Pace yourself when doing your testing, if you don't you will become sloppy. I was pre testing for my black belt and I put all my energy in the first 5 katas and after that I was spent.

  • thank you fthor posting it helped me relearn my old kata thanks!

  • I love watching Shotokan Karate because it really shows how much Moo Duk Kwan, the martial art I practice, is influenced by it. Most of the forms in Moo Duk Kwan are from Shotokan and its great to see where they originally came from.

  • next monday i have my fist degree...from withe into yellow.Let's hope! Well, to hope i have to practice, to get into the DO...Is a huge work to be present in the present.

  • this kata is rather easy but some other kata: omg ;p

  • @MrRamboman123

Kankudai(If I spelt correctly) is one of them =_=

  • @marshall9doom indeed :o

  • Comment removed

  • its my grading tomorrow and i have to do this!

  • my sensei hasan always tells me that karate is about defense not offense.

  • Waaw it's perfect

  • THIS IS NOT KARATE! A warning from a JKA life member: I spent decades training and teaching this activity. Because of many contradictions I saw and heard, I began a study of karate from it’s beginning; what it really is, why it was developed, how it was taught, what it’s general syllabus was. The JKA has eliminated much of original karate and invalidated it as a martial art. They teach a punching, kicking tournament sport, not karate. See comments my channel, study the facts.

  • @IEKUKATAKA Chinese food in the US is not Chinese food either... Nor is Taco Bell really Mexican food. Even the beef was recently questioned as being actual beef. I am confused as to why this not being Karate is important? If I knew where to learn legit Karate, I'd go for it, but otherwise I don't care all that much. It's decent exercise.

  • @kawaiinekochick2 Well, I can speak for myself only. When I apply thousands of hours of training toward an activity I want to learn as a martial art, I want it to be comprehensive, effective and authentic. I studied this (Shotokan) for quite some time, eventually becoming a teacher. I had questions, saw contradictions and studied original karate and have exclusively for about 25 years. I now know what karate is, what it is for and how it is performed and this (Shotokan) is not even close.

  • @IEKUKATAKA

what do you mean when you say you saw contradictions ?

  • @SakuKoivuRocks There are many. Examples (all viewed from a martial art perspective): Shotokan executes only hard blocks, they do not work, they are too big, too slow and they leave the body unable to respond instantly. I was never in a class where kicking to the testicles was taught, never. I heard of weapons bunkai for decades, never saw any. I was taught Budo meant martial art, it does not and actually implies there in no external enemy and that effectiveness is not a concern. see 2

  • @SakuKoivuRocks 2. Shotokan teaches several very dangerous and unlikely kicks to use. Not endangering yourself unnecessarily as a fundamental tenet of martial arts. Shotokan teaches haito and uraken to the head, go ahead and hit someone with them and see what happens. They teach karate kata are to have bunkai, they have none and practice none. Shotokan teaches near zero kusho, the heart of true karate and THE element that allows a small person to overcome a larger person. see 3

  • @SakuKoivuRocks 3. Many will deny these things, decades of training and reality say they are true. I left the JKA because of HUGE differences and long study has proven they are a sport and far short of karate and a martial art. In the end, a lie believed by millions is still a lie. I do not hate them, I just know too much now to believe in them and I do not. I suggest ALL avoid them IF you want to learn true karate. This warning includes many world names in favor of good, solid, original karate.

  • @IEKUKATAKA

And do you still train in karate ? and if so, which style ?

  • @SakuKoivuRocks I do, I have been involved for 47 years and am in my 27 year of unbroken training, meaning, consistent and dedicated to learning. I practice Goju ryu primarily, but, I do not consider myself as having a style. Styles are relatively recent (1933 or so) whereas original differences were just an individuals personal way to train as a martial artist, we all fight our own, natural way. My preference is ko ryu ho, the old ways and I seek them in all Okinawan karate, they are.. see #2

  • @IEKUKATAKA

sorry but, if you don't mind clarifying, doesn't goju-ryu mean "hard-soft way" ? and if so, what does it imply in terms of techniques (i.e. the power with which they are executed) ?

  • @SakuKoivuRocks #2 combat focused, simple, kusho oriented, natural to the body, no nonsense and no western crap like reverse round house, kicks to the head, spinning this, jumping that and any other technique that endangers the user by exposing himself or being combatively stupid in any other way. Original karate is focused on one thing in terms of fighting, overcoming the enemy quickly and efficiently and that does not include being vain, dumb or egocentric. That leaves out most westerners.

  • thumbs up for pwnage kata!

  • i learned this today xD

  • @IngaZork I started learning heian shodan last week.

  • Guys guys, Karate is not about fighting, it's a way of life. My sensei always told us the best way to win a fight is to win without fighting at all. Karate is about harmony, balance , peace and control in all spheres of your life. Cutesy and politeness are the hallmarks

  • @Juluka69 did you get that from karate kid?lol

  • @boehmtj ha ha, No I think the Karate kid director got it from me. THAT is what we were taught back then but now am trying to go beyond those teachings to see what really is karate. What were YOU taught yourself ??????

  • @Juluka69 i just started karate and no i just finished watching karate kid then i saw that and it reminded me of it lol

  • u know whats stupid tho, in the new karate kid the kid does kung fu and it calls it the karate kid? i mean what the hell?

  • @Juluka69 very true karate is about timing and if u know martial arts it is protection.

  • @Juluka69 i agree

  • @Juluka69 also my sensai said that

  • @Juluka69 but its for self defence, too :-)

but youre right! it isnt for fighting!!!

  • @Juluka69 who are you? karate kid? XD...

  • @mralpro Ha ha, no am not Karate kid and by the way the kid in karate kid was not really doing Karate, what he did was closer to kung Fu or Tae kwon do.

  • @Juluka69 chinese martial arts own!!!!

  • @Juluka69 yes, and so is glee club.

  • @Juluka69 That is because karate sucks.

  • I am a Taekwondo Black Belt if any one cares...

i wanted to see some karate videos to see what it was like

  • I can't speak to this guys skill, but look at his back foot, there's a few back stances in this sure, but he has his rear foot turned at a perfect 90 degree angle in his FRONT stances...that's just flat out sloppy...in a proper front stance in Shotokan the back leg is locked and the back foot is pointing directly forward, not toward the side wall...unless this guy has a history in Gojuryu or something I question how fast he got that belt...I'd have gotten 100 push ups for a gaffe like that.

  • @PnutButter1986 it all depends on your style and were you go. I learned Kihon first to but.. lots of people don't get tought that one.

  • A bit wrong on the foot stance, but still, pretty good

  • This is the exact kata I learned today in Karate. It's my first one, exciting!

  • @NevRav Shouldn't you have learnt Kihon Kata first? That's the first Kata...

  • @PnutButter1986 I don't know, I learned this one first. My instructor was one of the best fighters in the United States and youngest black belts at one point in time. Not sure if anyone is familiar with him but his name is Scott Heilman. So far he is excellent.

  • @PnutButter1986 I think they've started teaching shodan first now dude!

Godan is easily my favorite though!

  • @PnutButter1986 The first I learned was Tai Kyoku Shodan... But since it is so simple and is followed by this kata, I think this is considered the real first kata of Shotokan Karate.

  • the move at 2:23 when he goes into the back stance...isn't he supposed to end up with the hand that he had out for the punch being the hand he has out for the first back stance? that's how it happens at my dojo, but yer I'm a white belt so I'm not sure...i guess there are slight differences in the katas between dojos and such?

  • @Emilyluvsspotty there are slight differences in the way katas are taught and performed from dojo to dojo. it's best to stick with what you're comfortable with and get a kick of things when you spot differences =D
