wooow... this is our home reading report for our first grading in english..it's a very nice story and i love it.. especially the little prince..hehe :)
Awesome Posts, but, ever since New Years , this series of videos hasn't played at the correct speed. I don't know if YOU can fix it or if it is a Youtube issue, but, PLEASE fix it or re- upload it bc this is brilliance that can't be found, anywhere else.
Je deteste le musique, mais le fable sont tres mignon et jolie. Dans autre mots, i really, really like the story. but am most definitely in favor of cutting the music. Music and words have an enormous amount of power, but they must be in the right place at the right time. Personally, i think the music detracted from the story and the whole thing would've been much better in french with the english subtitles.
wait i take french and i think i know what you said! you said something like. "I hate the music but the story is ---- and pretty. i dont know what mignon means! lmao! XDD
@kuongnguyen I actually like most of the music. I think the majority of it is very appropriate and well written. I especially love 'Be Happy', 'Closer', and the song the pilot sings to the prince at the end (in part 11). I don't think it detracted from the story at all, except some of it was a little too silly (the snake's song, for example) and it had me laughing instead of realizing that Fosse was singing about killing the prince. I love this, it is so close to the book, and I'm glad :)
kuongnguyen: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting the whole movie. It made me cry, laugh, and remember my favorite book since childhood.
When my mother took me to see this movie I was wearing a long yellow scarf she made for me, and the entire audience of the movie theater pointed at me -- I looked too much like the Little Prince!
Yeah, "The Red Balloon" is exactly the type of film this story is suited to be. And it's only the vocal music that's annoying to me. Of course I don't mind the instrumentals. I bet Tim Burton and Danny Elfman could make an incredible movie out of this, as long as Burton kept it live-motion.
No, there's a certain power in the spoken word. For example, when the fox tells the Little Prince that "It's only with the heart that one can see clearly. What's essential is invisible to the eye", it's a rather profound moment. If he were singing that, it would just be ridiculous.
ahh, alright, I see what you're saying, and I sort of agree, a profound statement can be taken seriously when spoken, but you can also take it seriously in song, it just depends on your appreciation for the music, I find the music in this film quite beautiful and profound (even if it's silly at some parts) and the message would be fin if introduced through song.. trust me, if Lennon merely said "Imagine all the people living life in peace", it wouldn't move as many people.
I understand the power of music, believe me! "Imagine" is my favorite song in the world.
I just don't like the music in this movie very much. Actually, I would have loved this movie if it were in French, with English subtitles. The story is more suited to the romantic texture of the French language. It would fit more. It's an okay movie, but I think it could be remade into something wonderful. Especially with the aide of modern technology!
I think your points are valid. And yes, the music in this film is quite cheesy at times.. well, more or less, I prefer the instrumental music far more than the vocal pieces. And seeing something like this in french would would be perfect. But then I wouldn't see a phenomenal performance of Gene Wilder as the fox. An artistic venture, much on the same line as "the red balloon" is definitely the treatment that this story deserves. I can't diss a score by Alan J. Lerner, though..
Нормально зделали фильм . Так же как в книге !

I guess the music is bad enough, but the OVERSIZED subtitles are a total bummer.
I can't read English anyway. LOL!

Pourquoi parlez-vous seulement un peu de français ?
Je n'aime pas la musique aussi mais, le film est vieux...C'est excusable... à ces temps, tout les films ont cet type de la musique.
(désolé...si ma français n'est pas bonne!)
