  • Much respect RIP.

  • Goodbye, Abbey. You were a queen, royal ! Seeing you in concert was a lesson in dignity... I learned to love and to sing this song because of you.

I saw you again some years later and your version of 'Avec le temps' just devastated me. I have most of your records; you will live on in your beautiful music, beautiful woman.

  • Aguante David Sanborn!!!

  • quite simply the best

  • This song is by Charlie Haden

  • billie reincarnated!

  • Ms. Abbey Lincoln, a brilliant song writer and stylist. David Sanborn is also brilliant on this piece.

  • I SECOND THAT EMOTION!

Her songbook, along with Wayne's and Horace Silver's, will continue getting "hits" for decades to come...

  • I have an auntie who used to sing like this when she cleaned,we used to work at the same place and it would visibly embarrass me that she would sing away her time. She didn't care though, and she was right not too.

  • Abbey Lincoln with David Sanborn (with no "D") on alto sax from a 1990's late Sunday night TV show that had cutting edge artists from jazz, rock, pop, and classical music. Abbey is one of the greatest jazz singers on all time. That's the Night Music Band behind her: a great group. Thanks for the video.

  • Wow shes so great and sax solo is also very nice

  • You know who the sax player is ?

    Beautiful song, awesome singer ...

  • David Sandborn is the sax player hes got "crazyHair"

  • David Sanborn

  • sounds a bit like grace jones! xD

  • or Maya Angelou?

  • I love David's hairstyling.

  • Thank you

Haven't heard since she was at the Blue Note in NY a couple of years ago

Love her and the boy from Key west

  • It's not Marcus

    And Abbey is too good..

  • Is it Tom Barney then?

  • Holy S@#t! She is great! I have to say that, as of now, she is my favorite vocalist. I think she has the phrasing of a Goddess.

  • thanks for this video !!!!

i love her voice and style !

  • I just realized, Marcus Miller is playing stand-up, lol!

    Not something you see everyday.

  • Her voice reaches into your soul and grabs you. She sings with such raw passion. Amazing.

  • ai, oh, wow, mmm, no, please, damn, whew, sing

  • I LOVE ABBEY LINCOLN. I wish I could see her perform here in New York. Ahh!!

  • I just can't ever get past how powerfull her voice is, perhaps not volumn wise(though I'm sure she can progect), just spiritually powered in whatever she sings. I know very little about her, whatever she has gone through it has to have been brutal for her to have that gutrenching passion.

    Pretty fantastic sax player too.

  • Abbey - one in a million. What a songstress.

  • Eloquence, elocution, interpretive execution: all exemplary. Abbey Lincoln in this video is circa 60; consistently evoking a visceral awakening within her audience. I am simply awestruck. :-)

  • i've got 900 fucking channels on comcast, and not one of 'em will give me my night music, with Abbey, Milton Nascimento, Todd and Taj Mahal doing Gilbert & Sullivan. God, she's unbelievable! Check out her new album.

  • This is Jazz

  • Just Love this************She Has Skills, Don't Sleep On this Woman, Love her**********Yesssssss This Is Real Rare Talent

  • GREAT!! THNX!!!!
