I'm not too sure, but I would assume that it would be the same as with any denomination sponsored Seminary, that is the courses you would take at Calvin would prepare you for work within the CRC denomination. However if you wanted to work within annother denomination or church the courses taken might be sufficient, or a trasnfer and further training might be required by a seminary of that denomination. Glad I could be of help! I am super excited for you, wherever God takes you!
I am a member of the United Church , but I don't know for how much longer . I don't believe in celebrating Christmas , Easter or other church holidays , I don't like to see christmas trees in church . I can't find anywhere where it says we have to celebrate these so called Chtistian holidays . I was brought up to believe this way , but since I got older and started reading The Bible myself , I can't understand why we do it. I don't believe in gay marrage or gay preachers .
@tauwilltriumph . Hi! How are you ? So many of the churches out there still believe in Christmas , Easter etc. It's not easy to find what I would call my kind of church , so i'm beleiving what the Bible says and I leave it at that for the time being . But I guess if these holidays didn't exist , thousands of people would never think of the birth, death and resarection of Jesus . But that's the only time of the year some people go too church.
@buckskin0071001 Shame. I plan on becoming a pastor (hopefully in Canada), and still haven't found a church that's right for me. UCC - too liberal. Lutherans - too Catholic (bishops, mass etc.). Quite annoying, really. It's a challenge to find a nice church.
But from a purely logical standpoint - yeah, you're quite correct. The holidays are kept so that people think of these events, otherwise they just wouldn't care at all.
@tauwilltriumph Have you looked at the Christian Reformed Church as a denomination? Have you already completed your studies? It is my understanding that most pastors of the CRC have gone to Calvin Theological Seminary, but I know some who have studied elsewhere also. If the CRC is also too liberal, maybe try the Aliance denomination, or, if you want to go really conservative, the United Reformed Church is there too. There are lots of churched out there, dont give up!
@XHaroldXI No, I'm still in high school, but I need to choose somewhere to study quickly. Thanks for throwing a few churches my way, I'll check them out. I only lived in Canada for 9 years (since I was born) with a Catholic mother, so I wasn't really able to find out about other denominations (didn't even know any existed).
@XHaroldXI Update: The Christian Reformed Church seems perfect for me. They do not overdo it as the UCC does with abortion, transgenderism and homosexuality, and have a Reformed perspective. Thanks a lot for your help! Hope I'll manage to get a job in it. Do you know if Calvin Theological is recognized by any other church?
I agree with all of you - that the United Church is grossly apostate, secular, and spiritually-starved. I was a member of a United Church in Nova Scotia for over 25 years - since I was born. I was confirmed there, and became very involved in lots of projects, committees, and other work.
I never ever heard or understood the Gospel, nor did I learn anything else about scripture, or Grace, or Justification or the relevance of the OT, etc.
I've Since left the UCC, and attend a real Church.
The thing is not to get sickened by it, but to pray for their conversion and for ourselves to remain faithful and loving. It is sad to see them change the Gospel. The Lord said in Revelation that there will be many false prophets. This Church is secular. The commercial portrays Christians as if they or God hates homosexuals. They're lumping any opposition to homosexual behaviour with Fred Phelps. This is a lie.

@buckskin0071001 Tradition. And only that. It's the reason I left Catholicism. Mind if I ask what church you joined now?

No wonder the UCC pews are becoming more empty every week - it does not have God's blessing as it has abandoned scripture - God's word.

This church sickens me. Every years they move further away from the bibles teachings and there fruits grow more rotten.
