Love the clip - Oz music was at its peak in the 80's - pub bands were fantastic, and real entertainers. Loved Brian and the band - Festival Hall Brisbane 1985 - ah, those were the days....
Nope... they went unnoticed by the rest of the world inspite having many hit singles in Australia including a number one.
Marvel Comics probably still have no idea that there was an 80's Aussie band using a name of one of its creations. Funny, but the less popular Oz rock band Spy Vs. Spy were forced to change their name due to Mad magazine's threats.
Thanks for the info Noz, and the response. As an American, I have to ask, is Australia a bit more dodgy about liscencing and copyright laws than over here, or do you think that it was a more relaxed approach towards these laws in the 80's that allowed these guys to get their name through?
It just seems odd to me that a corporately liscened name could be used on a national scale with no information.
Good tune though, glad nothing bad ever happened to em, thanks again.
The copyright laws in Australia are no more relaxed than any other industrialised country. However, copyright laws in the US are stronger and many Aussie bands were forced to change their names if they were to play in the States.
The Angels changed their name to Angel City for the US market (just to avoid confusion with Angel and 60's girlgroup The Angels).
The Flowers changed their name to Icehouse to avoid confusion with an American band.
Spy Vs Spy were changed their name to V.Spy V.Spy.
I cannot work out as to why Spy Vs. Spy were pushed to change their name whilst Uncanny X-Men remained under the radar, inspite being a commercially successful band.
Sorry to but into the conversation, but if I remember correctly (and I'm often wrong) didn't Spy vs Spy go to the States at one time? Which probably would have led to them having to change their name.
Got to be the most energetic band ive ever seen, crazy on stage, ridin mini bikes,somersaults,lunatics..but they rocked too.pakistan video would be awesome.
Greg Mcainsh from Shkyooks wrote this!!! That's him at 0.37.

Bogans having some good times, and like the "Angry Anderson" bit at 1.43 too.
As a Victorian, I remember well the old timber desks and a real blackboard, no wonder Gen Y are a bit soft nowdays, they have no ticker.

Perhaps Marvel were more laidback than Mad.
