Its really a shame that modern wrestling has turned the DDT into a transition move. It used to be the most awesome finisher. Jake would always pull it out of nowhere. Great vid.
@zourah2 That Barbarian is indeed John Nord. That Humungous was Jeff Van Kamp. Van Kamp was the 2nd guy to have the gimmick, with the first being Mike Stark in Memphis (1984).
Mid-South was a couple years before my time. I'm not sure but being from the Phiadelphia area I probably woulda had hard time finding it on TV. Thank god for youtube! I can watch just a little bit of what I missed out on!
The way the crowd popped for the confrontation between Humongous and the Barbarian makes me think that Watts was slightly off target on that decision to turn the Barbarian.
That is correct

wasn't Humugous Sid? I might be mistaken so forgive me if I'm wrong
chrishollister80 3 weeks ago
@chrishollister80 No, this Lord Humongous was Jeff Van Kamp, prior to Sid (Vicious) Eudy.

I think that Barbarian was John Nord but I'm not 100% sure on that. This Humungous was not a name that every did much after this.

The Nightmare was a great heel. He had an awesome feud with Dick Murdoch during this time.

@flatulatingmarmoset I just looked him up, Sid wasn't the only guy to portray him. Oops. Well, it says he was Humungous in 1987.

Nightmare was still wearing his 'Assassin' mask. TOO FUNNY.
