If the airline is collecting a tax from each ticket sold, wouldn't they still be responsible to turn that money over to the government? They charged people for it, and just because they can't immediately give it to the government doesn't mean it's free money. If they don't give it to government then I would DEMAND my tax fee back.
Now I'm 2 1/2 minutes in, and my second impression is that I want to crack the bald dudes head like an egg to see if yolk comes out.........ok, back to viewing.
Idea: Make obama say he wants to cut social security, medicare, eliminate all taxes, AND make every day a holiday to give everyone's money to the top 0.0001% of the country.
THEN, those new fuckers in congress doing everything opposite of Obama will be progressives and we'll win.
I suspect they are aware of the connotations, which is why they use it, but their excuse is that the original story of the "tar baby" is legitimately non-racial in origin (wikipedia "tar baby").
What part of buying shirts from outside the U.S., from laborers paid a wage no one here can live on, working in conditions that are illegal here, without trade tariffs, do you think he didn't mean?
@TheGiantRobot I think that the part he didn't mean was the part about how our "government" coddles and supports corporations, giving them massive subsidies and tax breaks and privileged access to resources, even letting them dictate public policy.
He voted in the bill that gives oil companies the massive tax breaks they are getting now. He also is opposed to campaign finance reform, because he says it impedes free speech.
@TheGiantRobot I shouldn't have said "tax breaks" in my list of examples. I don't think that its presence in the sentence destroys the rest of the sentence. Corporations are massively wet-nursed, and I think that Ron Paul is against that. (more)
Those massive tax breaks were subsidies. When it turned out they were illegal, Paul and the rest of the conservatives voted to turn them into tax breaks of the same amount. See how this works?
Paul isn't against corporate handouts, he's just a clever politician. He knows what to say to his base. Just like Obama. And, just like Obama, his supporters will make elaborate excuses for whatever he does instead of just facing the simple truth: They lied to you.
@TheGiantRobot It sounds to me that you wish to convey your feelings of contempt for Ron Paul, specifically concerning cynicism and soulless pragmatism. I hear you. You really dislike the guy, and you really think he deserves to be disliked.
It sounds to me like you're projecting your own emotional evaluations onto others. Maybe you're cynical or soulless and, if so, keep it to yourself.
I was going to register Republican in 2008 just to vote for Paul in the primaries because I loved that he was speaking against the Fed and its practices. Then I researched his writings, speeches, votes, and bills. Disaster.
@TheGiantRobot No, when you responded to my post with your opinion of Ron Paul's character, I wasn't clear why you were doing it. I mean, I don't know, like you want to encourage some random internet dude to think differently about Ron Paul? That doesn't make any sense. So I had to guess at your intention. My best guess was that you just wanted to get your contempt for him off your chest. If I guessed badly, let me know.
@TheGiantRobot I didn't know about him equating money with speech, but I see your point: he would enable corps to dictate policy. Now I'm curious why he would do that. Maybe he believes that in a free market, no one ever stays at the top very long. I've heard that from other libertarian-types, not him in particular.
@TheGiantRobot I meant to say, "I don't think that its absence from the sentence destroys the rest of the sentence." You probably already figured that out.
Give the GOP a break, Tina. I'm pretty sure that they've expended all of their energy filibustering everything the Dems tried to accomplish. That's not to say that the Dems are any better. They're all in another world where common people don't matter.
Had no idea they had super milfs here

He's right about Star Wars, Tina. It's two trilogies. The story continues, but that's how they're considered to be broken up.

I think that Ron Paul means the *free market*, not what passes for free market in the U.S. corporate welfare state.
