If the airline is collecting a tax from each ticket sold, wouldn't they still be responsible to turn that money over to the government? They charged people for it, and just because they can't immediately give it to the government doesn't mean it's free money. If they don't give it to government then I would DEMAND my tax fee back.

@TheGiantRobot I think that the part he didn't mean was the part about how our "government" coddles and supports corporations, giving them massive subsidies and tax breaks and privileged access to resources, even letting them dictate public policy.

Those massive tax breaks were subsidies. When it turned out they were illegal, Paul and the rest of the conservatives voted to turn them into tax breaks of the same amount. See how this works?

Paul isn't against corporate handouts, he's just a clever politician. He knows what to say to his base. Just like Obama. And, just like Obama, his supporters will make elaborate excuses for whatever he does instead of just facing the simple truth: They lied to you.

I was going to register Republican in 2008 just to vote for Paul in the primaries because I loved that he was speaking against the Fed and its practices. Then I researched his writings, speeches, votes, and bills. Disaster.

Maybe he believes that in a free market, no one ever stays at the top very long. I've heard that from other libertarian-types, not him in particular.
