I think it's also worth noting that Zeitgeist picked 3 'laws' from the book of the dead (assumingly their best 3 comparisons) to compare with the 10 commandments. Strong folklore more believable than the Christian version suggests that he went back to India and died there an old man. I think it's also worth noting that Zeitgeist picked 3 'laws' from the book of the dead (assumingly their best 3 comparisons) to compare with the 10 commandments. Those three were 'don't steal', 'don't kill', and 'don't lie', respectively. These laws are pretty much common to every single society throughout history, and are basic, intuitive principles of functioning morality. There are no comparisons for the other highly unique laws found in the 10 cmds, such as no idols or other gods!

Well I don't see what being secular or not has to do with good scholarship and history, but to address you question, the amount of material referring to Jesus even within 150 yrs of his life, is remarkable in terms of ancient historical documentation. But St. Paul, for instance finished writing all his letters by the 60's AD - which is only ~30years after Jesus' ascension. He started writing in the 50's! Did you know that Jesus was Jewish? that Matthew was Jewish, and all the other new testament writers were Jewish (except Luke), and the the Church was almost entirely Jewish for about the first 100 years or so? The gospels are not anti-Semitic. They are written by Semites (Jews) largely for Semites.
