  • strefanasha...at first I though you were criticizing me...first time I heard those fat chords, I was an orchestra student.

  • the depth of it is so incredible

  • A youth orchestra and the contrabassoonist is balding...

  • This music reminds me of my beautiful Rose. I miss her so much.

Victoria I love you so much.

  • First time I heard Hovhaness, I thought I was getting ready to turn around and face GOD. I still think that way. One day I will turn around.

  • @lance4re if I may, I put it in Greek PROSKUNEITE which means ON YOUR FACE.

    Before God Almighty, of course.

But then that to me is what music is for, and if it cant produce that, and much of it cannot, I am not interested.

Hovhaness is one of the few, and for that I honour his work

  • Superb!

  • The most underrated and unappreciated composer that this country has ever produced. Brilliance.

  • If only this was played by a great orchestra, it would sound just as good as Holst's Planets, or any other orchestral work. People should keep in mind that this orchestra is just a student orchestra.

  • Oh my...this man is a great composer in the same vein as Bach. He really is. The reason Hovhannes is ignored is only because he wrote tonal music at a time when people thought that writing new tonal music was almost an evil thing to do.

  • the tonal registers are slightly discordant ,almost like Chinese phrasing. It's unusual but very effective to convey mysterious effect

  • Long time Hovhaness fan. These young people do a very good job on this piece.

  • Actually the Tallis Fantasia is written in the Phrygian Mode, while Mysterious Mountain is polytonal, meaning the orchestra is playing in more keys than one. That's why it sounds so mysterious.

  • This is beautiful!!!! If you like this, you might like some of Richard Wagner's stuff :)

  • @GrigorianNESS because its amazing music!!! duhhh!!!

  • Wow!!! Theres a reason why this man is armenian!!! lol love it<33

  • It's so majestic ^_^

  • Really beautifully played as well... ..gotta love these kids--:)

  • new composer to me, first time i heard about him was this past Sunday. he will become one of my modern favorites!

  • Vaughan Williams and Hovaness is my favourite composers.

  • this reminds me of Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis...both beautiful pieces

  • yes, it does sound similiar

  • Fantastic!!!
