  • Listening to this, I swear I could solve any math or physics problem.

Answers just flow within my mind.

  • mind fuck

  • Love this movie. I think Aronofsky did a step backwards when releasing Black Swan. It is okay, but Pi is brilliant!

  • does anyone know any bands with that kind of drum n bass?

  • in the official OST there isnt this version....which is great. Where did u find this one?

  • Clint Mansell @ Drum&Bass :DDD

  • Those ants are fucking huge

  • was this song also in requiem for a dream by any chance?

  • @stefano118118 It wasn't. Clint Mansell indeed composed the music for Requiem For A Dream, though. The song used was 'Lux Aeterna'. Mansell and Aronofsky often work together.

  • i figure out binary code in the shower because of this song. Seriously, it just came to me. 11.1 100

  • @mariusz82 read a few books about sacred geometry, the universe, mathematics, butterflyeffect and watch the movie again ;) flower of life is everywhere

  • @mariusz82 2 deep 4 u

  • How come this was in black and white? was it because he looked into the sun?

  • @DeederDangler I think it was a combination of making the film more atmospheric and the total budget was only $60,000 according to what I have read.

  • @DeederDangler No, because it's an old film.

  • I need attention, fast, think......

    PI IS EXACTLY THREE!

    Sorry for doing that.

  • Is it just me that feels the powerpuff girls theme's beat is EXACTLY similar to this ones? Forgive me for thinking so, I deserved to be burned in hell for such a comparison, but it's just eating my head. -.-

  • @kanvaskool Amen Break.

  • @kanvaskool It's a very common drum beat, or break, called the 'Amen Break'. There's an excellent video explaining its origins and rise to popularity on YT.

  • @SergiuszB Yeah, the Amen Break is more or less one of the most significant things to happen in the history of electronic music, haha.

  • @TheDeathOfCaligari rightfully so. i have nothing against a good 4/4 with inspiring bass line, but most of the time it sucks ass in the rhythm department. (which could be said to mainstream drum and bass also)

  • There can be no order, ONLY CHAOS.

  • i gotta see the movie!

  • 216

  • @Whitelighter7 Are you a numerologist?

  • @Whitelighter7 why?

  • One of the best tracks on any movie score ever. Fucking unbelievable. Dark, dynamic, moody, powerful.

Perfection!

  • Kind of sounds like Requiem for a Dream

  • @JohnzillaTheHun it Does But this is More insane love it!!

  • @JohnzillaTheHun They were both scored by Clint Mansell, who also did Moon and Black Swan

  • It's not a coincidence math is so close to meth...

  • Мощьнейший Драм !!!!!

  • BTW: the young man with camera in the movie is Clint Mansell himself

  • Mansell+Aronofsky=win

  • listenin to this while playing minecraft..

  • Clint Mansel did sountrack for this?? AWESOME!!! He also did Requiem For A Dream. A talented music writer indeed

  • π = Mind Blown

  • Is it sad that I actually tried moving my cell phone with my mind while listening to this?

  • @DementisXYZ We all tried.....

  • @ gellert Yes it is!

  • Hey DnB fellas: I'm completely lacking in knowledge about this kind of stuff. Recommend me some more music like this, please!

  • @TheThing88 Shifta - Krunkstep

  • great vid... all the new footage really ads to the film, like the ants and snake. That shows a great understanding for the film's ascetic

  • @fathismunk

Agreed! He probably knows how to say hello in 4 languages. And if he was so smart, he wouldn't be sitting here on YouTube. You don't have to be smart to understand this movie, although it helps. This movie has a unique plot, unlike your usual Hollywood Tommy-testosterone-tits running around with a LMG and leaving with nothing but a rock hard chest and sweat on his brow. Psychological movies always keep me thinking after the movie has finished.

  • Hey, that mnemonic doesn't work!

  • This movie is so amazingly disturbing. Worthfull to take your time and watch it!

  • Amens! yay!

  • 0:10 pi symbol

  • @lambada255 good catch!

  • Thinking too much and not sleeping can be VERY bad for your health...!

  • Somebody please explain this movie to me. Admitedly I did not understand the movie. What's the purpose of the hallucinations? What's with the ants? I just didn't follow the movie at all...

  • @BlckSbthMan Your last sentence explains why you don't understand the movie ;)

  • @mastel99 I'm not sure how, man. I didn't follow it = I didn't understand it.

  • @BlckSbthMan That's okay! Watch the film again, so many to understand isn't there but there is a message. I think you will get it when you watched it again. I know what do you mean with the hallucinations and so, it's hard to understand.

  • @mastel99 It's a very critically acclaimed movie; I'll probably have to dig a bit deeper. I'll probably watch it again. I mean, I get the basic principle of the Pi number being 'everywhere' and stuff, but the whole part about God and the ants in his computer, I'm struggling to see a link for the time being.

  • @BlckSbthMan u have to be developed in order to understand that movie

  • @Maxaveli777 When trying to sound "developed" it is often better to 1. Not type like a retard, 2. Try not to sound like an arrogant idiot.

  • @FathisMunk hey u who r u? i don't give a shit what u think u r nobody to me. i speak 4 languages and english is not my 1st language so get lost moron) i didn't ask ur opinion. ur iq is low and you can't compete with people who are smarter. bye bye

  • @Maxaveli777 For someone who doesn't give a shit you answered quite quickly. So you speak several languages ? Cool story bro, me too. English is not my native one either. And yet I try not to speak like a retard. (I usually don't mind that kind of typing, but when you are trying to sound clever, it's ridiculous. Plus you sound like an arrogant idiot.)

Incidently, BlckSbthMan never asked for your opinion.

Anywayys, I'm so sorry to have tried to talk to someone with such a high IQ !

  • @Maxaveli777 I wish to apologize to everyone who reads this, I usually don't bother to reply to people like Maxaveli777, but he is such a caricature, I can't resist to taunt him to see what kind of hilarious answer might come next.

I mean come on, "ur iq is low and you can't compete with people who are smarter"...? Comedy gold people !

  • @BlckSbthMan One of the keys to understanding this story, is to understand the story of Icarus and Daedelus. It essentially is a modern retelling of the major themes as postulated in that original story. The entire 'staring at the sun' is an allegory for man's idealistic intent of finding an ultimate order in the universe, and the events afterwards symbolizes the fall of icarus. This is essentially a man coming to grips with his own fall, accepting chaos as the ultimate order.

  • @BlckSbthMan what is ur iq buddy?)

  • I really got a headache listening to this song! Awesone, though :)

  • Pi is wrong! Spread the word of Tau, the true circle constant - tauday. com

  • you could be eating a sandwich to this song and you'd feel like a badass doing it

  • @MyIndianHair Wayy ahead of you ;-)

  • @MyIndianHair lmao! quality comment!

  • @MyIndianHair Damn! That was pretty funny!

  • @MyIndianHair what is badass

  • Jungle is massive! Awesome composer no doubt..

  • @Khoax123 it's NOT wrong, just you don't see a pattern, it is numbers of pi (just not from the beginning)

  • Have you heared about the Kabbalah?

  • 1.61803399

  • Why are their a bunch of ants in the video? The only thing I don't understand.

  • @afw8g that's maybe what uyou are one of them...

  • @fm57

" Stan Tenen " already did. He explains how in videos here on youtube. Check it out...

  • The man that appears at 2:15 and 2:30 is Clint Mansell, doing a cameo as the guy who takes photos of Max at the subway. Cool.

  • 18:30. I press play

  • awesome music.

  • best video in youtube

  • oh shit !

  • clint mansell is fucking amazing : )

  • actually, what kind is the movie Pi? sci fi? horror?

  • @mickeyyeung0528 It's a sci-fi thriller.

  • @americanzero what is it about?

  • @mickeyyeung0528 Basically the guy walking around in the music video (Max) is trying to figure out a 216 digit number and its relevance to the stock market.

  • @americanzero so what's wrong with the ants:P

  • @americanzero

Meanwhile being pestered by an organization interested in the number for that purpose and a group of hassidic jews who believe that the 216 number is the true un-utterable name of their "God".

  • awsome......

  • "Seamos Sistemas de Información Accesibles para la Recuperación de la Conciencia Humana"

    El Espejo Digital 3.5

  • I always thought Orbital made this tune, no wonder I've had such a hard time finding it! LOL

  • This is a masterpiece!

  • @AdamasCZ, it's illegal to use human parts in any profitable purpose.

Not to mention how expensive it would be considering Aronofsky's limited budget.

  • BTW, the brain used in this movie was real human brain...

  • If you want an easy mnemonic for the first 13 digits of pi, just memorize the following phrase: "It's a fact: I smoke marijuana in church every day while fondling choirboy's penises"! The number of letters in each word is the next digit in the series: 3.141926535897. Who couldn't benefit from memorizing that phrase? AOK!

  • @johnclavis u left the 5 out of pi smart one

  • @Zepolodon Crap -- well, the mnemonic still works!

  • @johnclavis yes it does, lol

  • @johnclavis You're missing 5, it is 3.141 5 9...

  • @Addiw I forgot to type the 5, but the mnemonic still has the right words in it...

  • @johnclavis wow!, I never realized the word "smoke" had 9 letters?. so you may correct it to 3.141526...

  • @johnclavis Yeah, that isn't the first 13 digits, so you fail.

  • @johnclavis you're a lifesaver man!

  • Just finished watching this movies. My head hurts like hell lol

  • This movie was amazing, the music was amazing, it had a gripping story and satisfying conclusion. What an underrated piece of art.

  • @zevex747 aint that the sad truth , one of the greatest films to ever exist. period. it may be have been filmed in black and white but it was thought out in high definition colour.

  • I Hate math, a always fail in math, it's been haunting me...

  • @LOKITYZ and english?

  • @LOKITYZ it shouldn't, math is devoid of fantastical thought

  • When I hear this, I want to start calculating everything and be genius and important to my ego.

  • The part i love most is 2:49 that part is so awesome!!

  • 11:36 PM. Restate my assumptions.

One: Clint Mansell is an awesome composer

Two: Darren Aronofsky is an awesome director

Therefore, when the two of them work together, you get something epic

    Evidence:

    Pi

    Requiem for a Dream

    The Fountain

    Black Swan

  • @xridethelightningx omg wats with requiem for a dream yea it has insane music the lux watever but the movie itself sux seriously just another drug addict

  • @estring123 Lux Aeterna? And you write it off as "the lux watever"? Also, why do you say that Requiem for a Dream "sux"? Just because it is about a drug addict doesn't mean it's a bad movie.

  • @estring123

    This is a joke, right?

  • @xridethelightningx Very true. Simular to the Hans, Chris duo.

  • @xridethelightningx Great assumptions I agree

  • @xridethelightningx and the wrestler

  • @xridethelightningx

    Hahah I like it!

  • @xridethelightningx You forgot The Wrestler! Apart from that you are obviously right!

    Every fucking Film is Brilliant!

  • @xridethelightningx you forget about Wrestler

  • @phekeiz also hans zimmer

  • Comment removed

  • @xridethelightningx

    yes, also

    The Wrestler.

  • @xridethelightningx I couldn't agree more. Or perhaps I could!

  • @xridethelightningx you forgot the wrestler...

  • Does this movie remind anyone of Tetsuo: The Iron Man? It really seems to have the same feel - themes of Paranoia, the connection between humans and technology. They're both great movies.

  • @Borfel Got the same feeling :D

  • pause at 0:43 - Mobius Strip - the perfect use of a mathematical AND visual concept. It's something that can be expressed as an actual equation but also as a larger metaphor for the mindfuck this movie is! Brilliant....

  • @LeviathanoftheDanube gotta see this again !! ~ Thanks for sharing ^^

  • @LeviathanoftheDanube the math used in this movie is way below real math. have u seen some modern homotopy theory?

  • saying math is an artificial language is a bit redundant. all languages used by humans to communicate with humans are artificial.

Math describes more than nature. it also can be used to describe thought, logic, and well, statistics, to say the least.

but then again, English can describe any of that, too. so can French, Spanish, German.... so, might as well and continue to call math a language.

  • I was semi-disturbed by this...

  • I'm not a nihilist

  • Math was created by humans, therefore it is an artificial language if u like. And of corse, one can describe nature -in most cases- usin Math because - we tend to forget this- the reason for inventing mathematics was TO DESCRIBE NATURE.

In my opinion, There is no such thing as "language of nature". Mathematics is a tool for describing the Universe(most of it).

  • @DoubleHeIix perfect description. Please, you sound like you might like learning about this. Nihilism, especially existential nihilism.

  • @AxiomaticInfinity Ok, but what you're speaking about is just system, a language.

The basis remaing the same even if we start caling the digit 1 two. Haiku poems are haiku peoms no because they not only describe world around but are a also a fragile connection between characters shape and metaphorical meaning of specific language constructions. In my understanding abstract mathematics are something like this where the connection with real world laws lost it's necessity.

  • @Max0Inq Still, the physical basis remains the same as remains the world of shapes - unchanged by the speaking language we use to describe it.

Math - as a language - is a fruit of human mind but as a basis it still mirrors the Universe - which laws are certain and undependant of system we use to call them.

  • @AxiomaticInfinity "Modern set theory shows how math is an artificial construct" Could you explain that?

Although I was never a math fan from it's practical side I agree with the statement the movie is based on.

Universe is logical thus human is logical. If something doesn't fit into formulas it's a human mistake or a chaos element that is the cause of most of the progress (both in good - evolution and bad - destruction - meaning).

  • This is my favourite movie

  • The moral of the movie: Obsession will consume ju in ways ju will not believe.

Seriously, if knowing life's secret can cause ju drill jur own brain to forget...then that must be a heavy burden. Even FINDING OUT normally is too much!

  • Nature is the language of math.

  • @MrOoppoddoo Nice try

  • @MrOoppoddoo Can you use one or the other to figure out whether that is the case or vice versa?

  • someone please tell me why Clint Mansell is so amazing?

  • I kindly welcome you to the ZINE family. promazine, thirozine etc etc

we will all need it after watching that movie:)

  • The Winstons - Amen Brother

  • Faith in Chaos.

  • Mansell likes D'n'B? :)

  • the ants also represent somekind of paranoia.

there is a paranoid disorder which gives people the feeling, that they got ants scrabbling under their skin.

really haunting movie with lots of associations to it.

  • God is a Mathematician..-Einstein

  • there needs to be a LOVE button along with like and dislike
