when the law was cast down, it was ment to not use an idol AS a GOD. catholics do not worship a statue, it is venerated as a symbol to uphold good godly vertues in the footsteps of Christ as did the image of the person deplicted as the staute. it is an image of art of a human that once lived as a good Cristian in service to God. to we catholics, it is an image of inpsiration...not god worship.

The Pope deleted the 2nd of the 10 commandments so they could use statues & images in worship. They split the 10th commandment on coveting into two commandments so they could still have 10 in number. Look at the list of 10 commandments published by the rcc! The issue here is not how the Ten Commandments are numbered, rather the issue is that most published lists of the 10 commandments do not include the words, "you shall not for yourself an idol".

Hebrew 7:25 "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." (The "he" that is mentioned here is Christ. No mention of Mary because she is one of us...sinner in need of a Savior.)

The catechism States very clearly that we cannot worship saints. by the way i hope u dont have any crosses or holy pictures cos they could b classed as graven images. and do people in japan worship each other when they bow?Heb10;12 CHRIST OFFERED FOR ALL TIME AS A SINGLE SACRIFICE FOR SIN. THAT SACRIFICE CAN NOT B REPEATED. THE MASS IS A RE-PRESENTATION OF THAT SACRIFICE. U have me judged all ready regardless of what i say so ill leave it @ that.

you are miss informed we have to bow to statues. The only time we bow or genuflect is in front of the blessed sacrament. which is the blessed bread. which we believe is Our Lord Jesus Christ in the flesh. read John 6 v22-60. I dont know if u got my reply this morn. but ill say it again . we do not worship statues. ex20 4-5 is in ref. 2 the golden calf. the jews WORSHIPED as God. read art. 1 catechism of t ca. church 10 commm.e .you will c we have the same comms. we have the graven im. in 1

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." Vs5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God."

@kiwichristian2009 the full commandment is in EX:20 V1-6 thats on page 83 of my nrsv catholic edition bible.U seem to a trouble with the diff. between worship and honor. even our lord honored Mary. look @ comm.5. google do catholics worship statues and have a look at some of the things there. as 4 not not really been the flesh & blood. Read JN:6 v60-67 when some of the disps. left w.y did he not shout after them its ok come back i was just talking symbolically .

@edwardbauer78 Ahh, the wonderful catholic bible. compiled and "adjusted" by catholics to justify their pagan practices of idol worship. The Catechism of the Council of Trent states these words: "It is lawful to have images in the Church, and to give honor and worship unto them...".

@kiwichristian2009 im not trying to pick a fight with u. im just sticking up for my faith. its good to see someone that feels so strongly about God. it is only the one god i worship FATHER,SON & HOLY SPIRIT WHO LIVES & REIGNS ONE GOD FOREVER AMEN. @edwardbauer78 Believe it or not, nor am i. How can you say you worship the God of the Bible when you deny things He said and did? God says there is ONE savior, Jesus, the rcc say NO, there is another. God says Jesus died ONCE for ALL sins, the rcc say NO, He must be resacrificed and NO, there are still some sins left over.

@edwardbauer78 As far as the New Testament is concerned, Jesus didn't pluck part of His flesh out to be eaten by His disciples at the Last Supper, which should be the primary example of celebrating the Lord's Supper afterwards. Where does the Bible say that the bread actually turns into Christ's flesh? The Last Supper was also symbolic, the Lord's supper is symbolic. Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross was the one true real thing.

@kiwichristian2009. We do not worship statues we use them to help us remember the holy lifes the saints lived. So we can imitate them living our lives in a holy way for the glory of god. We still hv 10 commandments it was god who commanded the use of statues in religious worship. Read Exodus 25 v18-20 also Num.21V8-9

@edwardbauer78 God DID specifically commanded CERTAIN statues to be made. Were they worshipped? No, were they bowed down to? No. Were the cerebrum on the ark of the covenant bowed down to or worshipped? No. Moses' brass snake was to demonstrate Gods healing power, so the people would know that their healing was from God and not just a coincidence, as you well know. Show me where God SPECIFICALLY commands us to make images of Mary and the pope and to bow to them?

@edwardbauer78 Exodus 20:4,5 couldn't be any clearer that even BOWING down to a statue is idolatry. Yet, Catholics foolishly claim that they are not worshipping the statues they are bowing down to. BUT, God forbids us from even bowing to statues.  In fact, the Bible is so clear on this matter that the Vatican has even REMOVED the second of the Ten Commandments to deceive you. No wonder 1st Timothy 4:2 states, "Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron."

@kiwichristian2009 You Miss informed. we do not omit any commandment we just have them numbered differently. Check out the 1st commandment in the catechism of the catholic church . article 1 on the 10 commandments. its says you shall not bow down or serve them. I have it open here in front or me. so the pope did not omit any commandment. EX.20;4-5 was in ref. to the jews bowing down and worshiping the calf. our lord was talking just about other gods . otherwise we could not have pictures of .

Vs5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:" If you have just "renumbered", they should still be there.
