  • I'd like to hear this live as the recording has a compressor pumping away - probably a cheapo camera. Try recording it with a zoom in 24 bit with manual record levels for real dynamics.

  • @armsby there is a live track with the second strat in the band videos ... same camera

  • im going to run home and check and see if my highway one strat will benefit.. which already has monster tone thanks to the weak alnico 3 mags... but the neck pocket check may help me

    thanks for some awesome tips!

  • What if the wood between the neck pocket and the pickup route breaks away? I was able to glue the piece, but can't check how well it's held yet. I am installing full-size humbuckers and they're in there tight, so the broken wood will be jammed between the neck and pickup casing. I think that may save it, but was wondering if you (or anyone else here) know how big of a deal such a thing usually is?

  • this seemed too good to be true, I did it anyway. this small mod has really made a differance to my strat. thanks very much.

  • this worked great! sustain is way better and just like you said no more fretting out...at all!!

  • Where can I get this kind of work done in the UK ?

  • @MrRuss192 if you can play the geetar youi must be good with your hands so id recomend learning all this set up stuff yourself espeshally if you play stratrs. even if you can afford it. strats need more care

  • What grit sandpaper were you using to sand the neck?

  • @L3Gi0n5 220 grit I also always have 400 and 600 on hand

  • Awesome! I feel itchy now just knowing all that stuffs under there.

  • I like to but removing the shim, piece of paper, my neck is not in the right angle anymore. And try to correct this with the saddles it has not enoug hight for it....

  • @AndreDerain yes this is a problem you want to stick with the shim since your neck angle is already cut the old way

  • Great info, will come in handy whenever I get around to building a "parts"caster that I've wanted to do for awhile now.

  • tks. That was really good info. Nice sustain...

  • The Tone Guru strikes again.... Awesome!

  • well now you know your guitar is next .... on the bench ... thanks goodness the Holidays are over
