not saying my way is better or anything, just throwing my ideas out there but what i like to do is the face peice first then the hood then pants and everything else ....just feel it works quicker, but thats jusst me
good job, this is just under what we get off the racks, lol im in an academy right now, some days our instructor will come in and look at us, and just say; "guess what? ALARM" and start the watch hahaha, its a blast but gotta make it slower and steadier when donning for a real call, but good work guys =]
@FIREFIGTER301 yeaaaa sometimes we would just hop over the tables in class just for the fun of it lol, our tables are set up in a U shape so if your on the opposite sdide, ur screwed haha. but we are out of the fire academy now and into our EMT portion, everyone who was in our academy managed to get their 240
Usually your getting dressed in the rig, or your already partly dressed before entering the rig. In addition to that your not going to "race" to get your scba on before you enter a house. Your going to check your seal, and make sure your fully covered so you don't get burned. Speed is one thing, being smart is another. Both don't mix. Steady, and Smart match. Just like you DON'T run to the rig.
@garf1eld029 The point is just a friendly gear race. Most likely to see who is going to buy ice cream for the shift. Anyone with a brain knows this isn't real world training...but thanks for pointing out the obvious!
@garf1eld029 In the time we spent doing the gear race I learned that smooth is fast and methodical is smooth, if you look at the video you will see that seals were checked and not a step was missed, the only thing we didn't do on the video was buddy checks. However it should be obvious why we didn't do them in this case.
It was good practice and fun, I'm truly sorry you have a problem with that. Have a nice day.
nice one my brother's, we do this at my station to but wit a differers, lol i get my crew together and we all do it at the same time but the last one or wit the slow time buys pizza for the shift and it a crew of 15, it a good think to try we u guy, i got one of my rookies down to 59 seconds and he was at 2.03 but anyways god bless u guys and your station
very nice. i see alot of vidoes on here about putting on ur turn outs and a scba. i only see one problem with all these vidoes. does everyone on ur department keep there gear and scba layed out on the floor like that, or do you hang it up on the racks. i say one should pratice the way ur gona do it when a call comes in. no short cuts. just saying.

@JETT9949 Actually I do keep my gear right next to the rig laid out just like that, the only difference is that I get my pack on en-route to the call. However the competition of my capt. and I is more fun when you can see him out of the corner of your eye.
My Dad is the NLVFD Battalion Chief, so it's enjoyable getting to see what he's been doing for the past years.

Great job guys! The only thing I saw was not checking the gauges to make sure they matched. But this was just for fun anyways. :)

@JETT9949 ya thats fine in all but i am a Jr. in a Vol. company and we have our SCBA's on the trucks in the seats so that kind of does not work here
