I don't use fabric to make them. I use wide-length ribbons. I just cut them into proportionate strips on both ribbons (of different colors/hues) and insert them into each other, criss-cross motions.

It's much easier and hassle free.

Oh by the way, I give them away as bookmarks and friends or people who got them love them. =)
