WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!! This is spectacular!!! and he maintained great tone quality; his overall sound is great!! and yes people, a neck strap. they make them for clarinets too. After all, with fingers flying everywhere but the thumb rest, you need some way to hold on! and if ur still trolling, ur just jelly of his skills.

What is so wrong with using a neck stap? I play clarinet A LOT. I have no choice I have to play with a neck strap otherwise I get really bad elbow and wrist pain because of how much I play. Without it I would be in pain.

@rfilosi A neck strap really helps in songs that are this difficult. It is easy for your hands to sweat up or get tired and you start to mess up, so if you can take some of the tension off of holding the horn, you can get better results.

@scy511 I think only a little kid would comment about the neck strap. you probably don't even know what it does or helps. just to let you know it's very helpful in releasing pressure off your right hand, this enable you to play at the best of your ability without the weight of the clarinet hindering you (in this case the speed the fingers).

@scy511 I have also been to Europe, it was with the Kentucky Ambassadors of Music. And honestly, it's only about how much money you have, not how good or "official" you are. I don't even use a neck strap but I know there is nothing wrong or detrimental in using it. Until you can justify that neck straps are ridiculous, overkill and have no positive effects on a clarinetists playing ability your argument is invalid.

@scy511 i like the neckstrap simply because it takes the pressure off my poor ol' thumb (seriously, my whole freaking hand cramps up from my stupid thumb pad!! T^T over time, clarinetists can actually develop arthritus in their thumb joint). i wouldn't call it overkill if it can prevent you from experiencing pain.

And even me being very athletic working out in the gym daily it is hard to hold the clarinet for long periods of time and its easier to play the notes faster if you have a neck strap. 2 pounds isnt heavy at all but when you hold your clarinet you have to hold it on your one thumb at the bottom..! finger holding 2 pounds gets very tiring after a while.

@Whorriid stfu, it isn't unprofessional... most clarinetests don't use them, but someone who plays alot can start to get cramps in their right thumb (the weight of the instrument rests on this) ,at least i do every time i play for a while, and so he use a neck strap to help cope with it. not because he unprofessional, but to just take the wait off his thumb plus he was standing so so there is a little more weight on his thumb the normal and its isn't uncommon for people to use neck straps...
