If you watch herbie play it, he plays it differently. for one he plays what you are playing with his right hand. He starts out with a low F, then plays Bb D F (higher) then C and finishes with B nat Eb.
I have the original score from Herbie Hancock and this is not at all how it is written. Order the original arrangement on sheet music if you have any doubts.
amazing the amount of people not knowing about google/sheet music/name of song....not just here but i see this all the time or 'uh, could you send me the music'
and not the same as the original but not bad....listening to the herbie hancock version also makes the differences apparent; i wonder though how jazzpianist
did get it not quite right? still not bad and decent lesson.
that part is in every fake book, problem with fake books is they only give the melody, this guy is giving the LH, which is the part the fakebooks never show you thnx to uploader!
Of all the things you did in this vid, putting the note text on the screen was by far the most helpful. I cannot read music, but I know key positions.
Thanks! I've been trying to figure that out for a while! So far I've just sorta skimmed over the F blues scale, but its starting to sound boring and repetitive, what little riffs do you use/suggest for the different chord changes, just so i can get off the blues scale... Thanks man!
Can you also tab out the right hand part for the melody? It is kind of hard to tell what you ar doing there. Any suggestions on how to improvise would also be nice.
Yeah, can someone please post the notes for the right hand please? I'm finding it hard to follow. Many thanks in advance :-)

Pudersepp fail. this is watermelon man.
Janitor989 1 year ago
You know it is not the "Watermelon man" but the "Cataloupe island" you are playing? You probably do, I didn't skim trough the comments.
Pudersepp 1 year ago
@Pudersepp No, it isn't. Cantaloupe island goes to Dm7 - it isn't an elongated twelve bar blues.
This is most definitely Watermelon Man.

Thank you very much! I found it great. It's not the original, this is arranged to be easier, but this lets me do my own thing to it. thanks.
