this is very interesting ..

you know what, I'm teacher in training and I'm teaching the same aspect..

and ya I find it effective to emphasize first what the short hand stands for and what the long hand stands for..

and the idea of connecting the aspect to their personal life even makes it more engaging..

For example, I asked them to draw their own clock and tell their partner what they do at this hour..
