@allldin The answer to your question is that Konami made 2 versions of the game the one you had was designed for anti piracy and I'm not sure why it was made that way, the original is far easier but you can punch in the password "hard!" and you get the version that you got.

The music in this game is so awesome...it sticks in my head all the time. I think the main theme to the Green Planet (0:05-1:00) is one of the catchiest themes I've ever heard. I love the way it switches from A major to C major. And the melody it plays over the C-Bb-Am-F-G-C chord sequence is so catchy I can't help but sing along. The music to the "Escape" level (4:32) is very catchy and uses a compositional device called a "mordent," extremely popular in classical music. Great music!

It sure was hard. On my NES it was bugged or something and every time I got hit I died instantly, instead of having my LIFE lowered. I got trough 3 planets that way, it took me some time XD. Now I'm playing it right and will finally beat it!

There's actually a password you can enter that makes you die in a single hit. Your game must have somehow automatically entered this mode from the start?

The password is, imaginatively enough, "HARD!"

Wow, great music!! But hell, is that guy quick to walk the levels through! I needed months to perform it (Have had the same instant death bug!). Are there speed walkthrougs of another levels there? I would see the another levels!!
