People don't have a clue how much this band influenced southern rock. In the real early days, Lynyrd Skynyrd used to have ISP nights where they would play ISP's first album front to back. These guys were the first to use dual lead guitars that people like Skynyrd, Allman Bros., Marshall Tucker, .38 Special, all used as integral parts of their "sound". Cotton went on to Poco when Schmidt left for the Eagles, & the last I heard, Kal was playing in a little blues club outside of Palm Springs.
@remrafgod Kal and Lauri had a five- or six-year run at the Blue Guitar in PS (his own club, btw), which is a long, long time in a resort town. Still lives out there so far as I know. There are several terrific CDs available, including Live at Blue Guitar. The version of HLS on that CD is the stuff legends are made of.
