He was such a cute little boy in "The Shining," and now he's all grown up to be a very handsome man. I wonder does he ever think about returning to acting.
Danny Lloyd was one of the cutest child actors ever. His interview parts in 'making of the shining' were adorable. I recently watched the Stephen King's 1997 version of The Shining and I hate the kid who plays danny in that one. I just wanna kick that little poofs teeth out, he's so annoying. Actually that entire series was pathetic, especially in comparison with Kubrick's version.
It must be strange for someone who's in his mid-thirties to sign a bunch of fans' pictures taken of him when he was five. I'm sure the money is good, though.
The Jesus statue at the end was struck by lightning and burned down a while back. Maybe if they'd actually made the statue FLAME RETARDANT it wouldn't have happened! Well, at least we have video footage of it! Thanks for the vid, vsarabande.
Every once in awhile I like to google his name, and I came upon this video. I really liked seeing him with his fans. He is my uncle and I know personally he does not like to talk about the film, and doesn't like being "Danny" (I've tried) prefers Dan. I love my uncle, he is funny and a great person to be around.
Typical example of people who achieve success at very young age but fail to sustain it. The kid was so promising and adorable, but now he looks so average..... he's just an average teacher. He definitely had what it took to be an estimable hollywood actor.
@vikrantw2000 Ever thought that he did not want to pursue his acting career instead decided to teach? He was 5 come on his parents probably made him do it but there is no doubt the he enjoyed the experience though. But as of now he looks unhappy to be signing autographs and meeting fans...
amazing, you can grow up,change your wardrobe, hairdo or become bald,style....but the glance never change! you can be 30 years without seeing a person, but only for the glance you can recognize him. Thats its fascinate!!!
I am the same age as danny and when i saw this movie when i was around 10 years old freaked me the fuck out and it still does! He should be proud of this movie because other horror movies can't even compare and to work with a legend Stanley Kubrik best film maker ever is just golden.
Wow, I wonder whatever happened to Danny Lloyd. I remember it was him and Henry Thomas who were the big child movie actors then. But of course, Lloyd was in only The Shining and then... vanished into the hedge maze of horror movie history. Except for his eyes, it would be hard for anybody on the street to recognize him from his movie past.
@celticbro28 I agree he should be extremely proud. Even if I never did another movie before or after The Shining I'd love to have been the kid to play Danny just to say I was in one of if not the greatest horror movie of all time.
Always wanted to know what he looked like now and was doing.
Glad you posted this video. The Shining is my fav horror film and the 4 performances are the best I've ever seen and felt. (JN, SD, DL and the Location) Terrifying your viewer in bright lighting&white snow-simple and genius. I wish him the best and I am gracious to him for the best film scare of my life.
(He doesn't need to do anymore acting-thanks for the glimpse.) That Jesus was cool too! A real WTheF moment.
Dan the Man! Too bad he quit acting...he was one of the best child actors of all time. He's still young enough to give it another go-round if he gets tired of teaching.
I went to grade and high school with him and we was never anything but nice to people. I believe he's a professor at a college in TN maybe? We just had our 20 year High School reunion and were talking about what had become of him.
He should meet Joe Hill -- the real life inspiration for the kid in the Shining. Then they should have a fight, and try to race each other on little trikes.
To bad he is so reserved about being part of such a Klassic Horror Flick, But I am glad he didn't end up a Hollywood Statistic. The A-Typical child star. Thanx for sharing this footage. Really glad 2C he is alive and well!,...*redrum,redrum*, I had too,....LOL
Very impressive, vsarabande. I found him in 2000 and spoke with his mother on the phone. Nice chat, but in a second phone she informed me Danny had declined my request for an interview. I also pitched it to People magazine, but they declined it also.
Interesting video....cool to see little Danny again. Funny though - the Jesus status on I-75 was struck by lightning two weeks ago and burned to the ground.........I live 15 mins from there.
I hope Danny Lloyd is okay. He did a great job as a kid in "The Shining". There are things adults choose for us when we are young and then there are things we choose for ourselves when we are adults. I hope he didn't have too hard of a time transitioning from a mega child star to being what he later chose to be, and I think that is a teacher, as I read. He must be very smart and strong.
No no he wasn't a prick birthofcharlie. This ws his FIRST convention ever so he didn't know what to expect. He was very reserved. Now if he'd do more conventions, yah, he would be more open, but I think I would have been reserved to, if it was my first convention. I will say this, he could make a small FORTUNE if he would do conventions as the Shining is one of the best horror films. Hope this helps.
Heh... I'm kinda glad that being a 'child star' didn't turn him into a poor, drug addicted, alcoholic adult like it seems to in every other case. Good on him for pursuing what he wanted rather than being forced into Hollywood.
No problem prahaladr. When I was there, I figured I would film a little as I'm sure there are THOUSANDS of folks who would like to see what little Danny looks like now. He was super nice and I wish him the best!
This was his ONLY convention appearance and his line was REALLY LONG.
Gawd.. This is the greatest video I have ever watched on YT!! Ever! The Shining was the greatest movie of the 80's and such a great treat to watch the child actor of that movie on YT!! Thank U so much for uploading this!!
Tool 1 was one of those guys that when he got a microphone he thought he was THE SHI-! If you know what I mean. Tool number 2, I think he was the larger one, tried to get me to stop recording, I just didn't like it, so he got named that!! Glad everyone enjoyed the video so far. Danny was very nice. I had him sign my rare Shining LP.
That's a shame he doesn't like any recognition. I think his autograph was $40.00 at the convention and that is at least $20.00 more than anyone else charges and he had a LONE line. If he ever got shot on cash, he could make a small fortune on The Shining. He seemed VERY nice, but VERY private.
But that's kind of the point, look at the kids who stayed in the business. Most don't end up too well. And he didn't make the decision to do those films really.
I'm watching the 30th anniversary of it and it's not like I remembered. It's much more suspenseful. I admit I was very young when it came out.
