Also I am disappointed as well that education is reduced to a business. Both sides say they want students back in class but that's just for show... we are the highest paid TA's in the country and I am good with that... sucks for the contract faculty though that makes 25% of full time profs make and teach way more classes! If only classes could resume partially or full time profs can take more classes!

On the other hand I agree with most people saying this should be over...I am a grad student and I am bothered by the strike... but there are issues that need to be resolved... unfortunately not happening... new strike very possible in 2010...lucky for graduating students who will not be a part of it...!

Contract Faculty are not full professors because they are deemed unworthy through whatever reason for continuing on for that. They either lack academic work or tenure. this idea that they should be given full professorships is ridiculous.

York has to PROVE it cannot afford to meet Union demands which have already been reduced by a lot. I do not believe they cannot afford. The employers always say that, but the problem is in their priorities.

I am a full-time undergrad and I am just as upset as everyone else because it feels like I'm being robbed of 6K+ for this school year and when school does resume I'll be receiving a discount education at full price. One thing that stands out to me in people's comments against CUPE is that they have no idea what is going on. Educate yourselves on the facts. The media isn't always right. Make your own educated opinion. After all we are students and we can still teach ourselves something, can't we?

I think it's interesting how most people who comment on any of the videos relating to the strike have such harsh words for CUPE members. York should have bargained with the union more often back in November to try and end the strike. I believe that contract faculty should have job security, they are qualified university professors who find out in August if they will be teaching in September! This is one of the issues that York has yet to address in it's offer to the union. That's ridiculous!

Anyone who takes the time and examine the unions demands and compares them with current faculty contracts at other universities can clearly see that their demands are unreasonable. They are also can clearly see that the current offer is more than fair.

There is a hidden CUPE agenda. They cannot expect York to comply with their demands, they are too ridiculous. They want that 2 year contractperiod. They are not fighting for wages or job security; theyre fighting an ideology.
