  • Classic rock that rocks!

  • A 2-record set on a 1 specially-priced compact disc.

  • Those boys rock!! a time with muscle cars and rocknroll there was a place a guy could go and escape for a while.I ran a 70 cuda at the strip when i could afford to and did some cruisn' on saturday nites. To this day, listening to this song still makes me feel good this is truly a great song!!!

  • @fourfortysixpak1 In '72 I went to Vancouver Island from Edmonton Alberta in my ancient Rambler. I had an 8 track in my car and played Machine Head a lot while on the road. The album is a great 'driving' album. Man I miss those wonderful days. I really do; got plenty of good memories from back then. May God Bless.

  • live in osaka?

  • w studio było lepiej

  • i love it and I need it!!

  • Early Purple was the best.

  • Are there any women out there who dig this song?

  • @duqmiguel yup, me!! been listening to deep purple since the 70s, the best rock band! blackmore kicks ass, lord the best keyboard man, paice the best drummer, gillan the best frontman!....deep purple, simply the best, man!

  • LeeBeeBee1 :

    you are absolutely right!!

  • All the band was magnific in this record, Ian Gillan at the best vocal performance, Ritchie Blackmore a genius, Jon Lord a genius, Roger Glover a brillant bass and Ian Paice a genius!!!!!!

  • Look for the remastered full set of recordings from all 3 shows used to make "Made in Japan" 2 shows in Osaka and 1 in Tokyo, August 15 -17 1972. It is badass and each song is different each night. This Highway Star 8/15 is my favorite. The kick drum and bass are heavier, and Blackmore's guitar solos are raw and furious.

  • Ya-hoo!! Its 72! and I'm 12 . . Rockin-out in my bedroom! . . Fuck the World! YES!

  • best live album ever

  • Ritchieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! is perfect!

  • não tem NADA igual lamento porque nãotem mais porquuuuuuuuuue brother

  • arrrghhh!!! i cant upload the link but it is: deep purple highway star uploaded by Ledzep69Man

  • im sorry but i own this album and this song does not sound like this version, i actually was able to find it on youtube uploaded by another subscriber, here it is:

  • Was soll dieser Schessikometer das ist noch richtige Handmade supper!!!!!!! Da hört man das LSD noch so richtig raus. Nicht so wie heute bei den Koksern.....

  • Was soll dieser Schessikometer das ist noch richtige Handmade supper!!!!!!!

  • If any one is interested, I've just uploaded the version of Highway Star from the remastered edition of Made in Japan.

    /watch?v=XxWSLKU1RbU

  • Actually "Made in Japan" has each song once from three different shows... this version is only on the 3 disc CD set call "Live in Japan"., each disc being the full concert on the three different dates.

  • this is rippin'

  • 2 taken of highway star???? i have the original the remastered cd and haves also the 16 aug. take.

  • rock and roll's

  • isto e rock roll um dos melhores albuns ao vivo jamais feitos. eu tenho o na minha coleccao e ouco regularmente.rock on

  • high end rock this one.

  • Supreme...The best ever made!!!!!!!!!

  • Love the drumming on this song. Paice is one of the best ever.

  • buena!

  • the album made in japan was taken from three concerts. if you want to listen to them, buy the CD "live in japan". it includes three versions of highway star. they took the best version for the made in japan album.

  • If I remember correctly, because it has been a few years, the only way you could get this LP at first was if you bought it as an import. Much to the record company surprise it was such an hit that they then released it in the US.

  • best intro, best organ solo, best guitar solo, perfect vocals and drums, but in the original version i think that blackmore's guitar sounds better

  • Perhaps. I cannot dispute it, however, consider Grand Funk Railroad "Live Album" from the 1970 Atlanta International Jazz Festival - 5 July 1970

  • this isnt the made in japan version , its like someones fucked about with it and ripped its guts out

  • this isnt the made in japan version

  • @pukeyable yes this is not the originally version of made in japan's album but it's very cool.

  • la mia donna mi ha regalato il doppio vinile originale, che dire...STREPITOSO! UN CAPOLAVORO DELLA STORIA ROCK!

  • this is not the version of the original made in japan album

  • Comment removed

  • Not from japan album

  • la leggenda del rock-deep purple made in japan

  • this is not from Made In Japan

  • @repetitivemotion WMG banned the original album version, at least in the US, the fuckers.

  • @repetitivemotion

    You are right!

    /the danish maniac

  • @discovery0 As I said before 'There were 3 different Made in Japan albums that were recorded in two, or three different cities in Japan.'

  • @repetitivemotion

this recorded in osaka not at Tokio(the best)

  • Comment removed

  • Wonderfull Just Wonderfull !!! :-)

  • muito bom.

  • Made in Japan is probably the best live recording of a series of concerts ever made. It's a pity Ian Gillan never did much REAL screaming in their studio recordings: The studio version of "Child in Time" is APALLING when compared to what he does in Japan! Live, Ian Gillan was superb. His performance in "Jesus Christ Superstar" is also excellent.

  • @LeeBeeBee1 I had never heard the studio version of Child in Time until last night -- I ONLY knew that song from Live in Japan, where it's harrowing. The "screaming" in the studio version sounds like an church choir. COMPLETELY wrong for the song, natch. But I wonder if that was a producer/manager decision. Lot of old fogies were hanging around out there recording and managing these young firebrands.

  • you know they are enjoing it

  • 4 peoples have no ears ? lol

  • Best rock live album EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER & EVER

  • Is it normal that, when I listen to this song, a feel some wind blow my hair?

    Goes well with summer :D

  • @2c26 wouldn't be normal if you DIDN'T ;-) Your post reminds me of an old ad/commercial for some sound-related company...maybe it was Maxell, not sure...anyway a guy is slouched in his chair in front of his stereo, and the music comes on and the guy's hair is flying back. Great stuff, really captured the feeling visually.

  • Purple had a great feel for building momentum...holding back the power at first, Paice and Glover laying the foundation...Lord and Blackmore doing little rhythm stuff at first...building the anticipation...here it comes, like a freight train...rumbling at first, picking up speed till it blows by you and through you

  • 4 Peoples are stupid.

  • @caffeamar0 Four people appear to be extremely too stupid

  • Geesuz! Ian Paice is volcanic. And recorded so damn well. He drives this track just like the car in the lyric.

  • how come there's no regular studio versions of this song?

  • @guitar1195 There is...it's the leadoff song on Machine Head. Search this in youtube: deep purple highway star studio. You'll get multiple opportunities.

  • love this

  • just amazing

  • Oh ... those were the days ...

  • Very good musicians, but the years do not happen uselessly

  • Not the orig LP version. A remix.. I should know... I purchased it on the week of release in '72...

  • @tomhensr Would you be able to post the original version? cheers.

  • Weird - this is not the same version as was on the LP. I must say, the one from the LP is *much* better - I wonder why they'd replace it. Definitely a case of the production gang demonstrating their "It was working, so we fixed it!" attitude - they always seem to need to piss on the hydrant in case somebody forgets they're what it's all about...

  • @flizbarg This version of ''Highway star'' was taken by the first CD of ''Live in Japan''

Live in Japan is a triple live and contains the three concerts from which were taken the songs of the original ''Made in Japan''

this is the first gig (15 august), taken from the first CD

  • I'M A HIGHWAY STARRRR!!!

  • I agreed ! Deep Purple is the best !

  • Dowwnload the audio from this track at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • que grande el Ritchie eh!

  • This is NOT exactly the same as the recording that made the Album.........not as good as the "MADE IN JAPAN" version.......errmmm?

Still the best live album ever though, MADE IN JAPAN.

  • This Highway Star is not on the "made in Japan" double Lp. But it's a great one anyway....

  • Does this song have content from umg ?

  • ....amazing ....I have the chills...

  • I wish I could see a live video in HD ov this album....!!!!! The best live album EVER!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • best channel ever

  • What is often overlooked is the how the bass really drives this song. Beyond the pulsing beat, listen what Glover does under the radar during the guitar solo for example in the late 5 minute into 6 minute mark.

    What a great ROCK song!

  • il miglior album al mondo esistente, datemi del fanatico, masochista ,ma non esiste album migliore, neanche mozart, beethoven, sa darmi i brividi come questo capolavoro

  • @libroni sono daccordo al 100per100

  • i don't think anybody will dispute if i say this the best live album of all time !

  • @nba2065 I disagree. Supertramp in Paris was also one of the best. Can't choose, BOTH ARE GREAT.

  • @nba2065 Thin Lizzy,zeppelin,who live>Purple live.

  • @nba2065 That's debatable... How about "Live at the Fillmore East," by The Allman Brothers or "Live at the Fillmore," by Derek & the Dominos...? Deep Purple was the headliner at my 1st ever concert in 1973(14 years old). 120,000 people at The West Palm Beach Raceway, an all day festival with David Blue, Savoy Brown Blues Band, Billy Preston, ZZ Top, Deep Purple and others...

  • @nba2065 ted nugents first solo has to be right up there too. just sayin.

  • @nba2065 ok

  • @nba2065 Agree 100%

  • @nba2065 yes !!!! is the best !

  • melhor rock and roll do universo

  • ma dove le senti piu ste schitarrate?!!!!!!!

  • those who never heard this, are incomplete.....

  • Thats it! Straight up. Love this. Max late night kickin'.

  • One of the most wickedly awesome live albums of all time! The 70s had great hard rock and progressive rock. Of course disco sucked, punk sucked, and Gordan Lightfoot sucked.

  • this is the best Rock album ever.

  • it's so fun airdrumming to this

  • il ne se passe pas un We de ma vie sans DP

au Wex à Marche en Belgique le 3/11/10

    Yyyyyyeeeeessss

  • carica pura!!

  • This is verson isn't on the actual made in japan album but was one of the days of the japans concerts right?

  • @rocker70sman agree 'cause I have the 2 set vinyl and I believe this was recorded on one of the venues which was not the same as the one the original vinyl.

  • @rocker70sman correct. i am looking for the album version :(

  • quasi 40 anni dopo ancora da brividi

  • The original vinyl double set was the definitive version. IMO it remains THE best live album EVER. It should be in everyone's collection.

And that's coming from someone who prefers jazz/funk, funk and reggae to hard rock.

  • ÁLBUM VINIL...THE BEST

  • The best live album of all time !!! I love them all !

  • es que el MADE IN JAPAN es 1 recopilación del LIVE IN JAPAN ( 3 C.Ds ) VANNGELSING...

    Simplemente para que lo sepas.

  • BBBBBBBEEEEEEELLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Great job, ThePurpleChannel, I love Deep Purple!!! :))

if you want check my instrumental cover of Highway Star, Made In Japan...

... I played all instruments as "One man band", then I mixed all tracks!!

it's funny to hear, trust me!! ;)

  • Best live album Bar none.

This is one of the outtakes from the MADE IN JAPAN tapes. The version on the LP was from the Second night.

  • Yeh, this is their best song of the best album!!!

  • soi chilango a hora vivo en puebla pero este albun doble lo compre en 1979 y lo sigo conserbando como si fuera lo unico que tubiera y tambien de ledd zellin el pichi son 39 años con el apodo

  • yes yes first record i ever bought summer of 72' now listen to what i listen to now omg...............i was 10 years old (nasty6uldv8) on you tube shit.......

  • nope,NOT from the 'made in japan' album anyway. The real one starts with a drums and keyboards solo run.

  • I wonder if any of the guys from DEEP PURPLE ever come here and relive their past....what a kick that must be...lol ....are you out there guys?

  • Ive never heard good morning on my highway star version, and I heard this album a million times, sometimes very slowly and intensly...like in a warpspeed and other times quickly....you know what I mean.

  • I've definitley the better version!

  • something very wrong with the intro - not the made in japan original. may have been the next day with a massive hangover...

  • This track is NOT from 'Made In Japan'! I have just heard it! The intro is very different! The organ fades in starting to play the song. The drums begin about 00:22 sec. The guitar, about 00:34 sec. Ian Gillan doesn't even introduce the number until around 00:37 seconds. Also, the version from 'Made In Japan' is a LOT better than this one, which is okay, I guess, but the other version is GREAT!!! I think that I shall probably have to upload it now, after saying that;) Can I? What of copyright?

  • @CameraJams

it's all true!!!!...this is other different LP!!!! :(

  • @beerman28564 - Thanks! I did upload the great original, but had some issue with copyright or other so took it down again, having no experience with matters

like that. But as mrmres below asks 'Where is that one on YouTube?' I don't know why nobody else it seems has uploaded it!!!??? I'm going to try again some time soon. as it should be on YouTube!

  • The best rendititon of Highway Star was the actual cut on the Made in Japan album. This one's not quite as good. Ritchie WAIIIILS like a maniac on that & I have an emotional attachment to that one...not this one. WHERE IS THAT ONE ON YOUTUBE?

  • @mrmres I agree. The version you speak of is by far the best one. I too have an emotional attachment to that version of the song. I felt like an outsider...when I heard this song, I knew I found where I belonged!!! Thanx to Blackmore , Gillan, Glover, Lord,& Paice

  • I think this version is from the next date in Japan, I think Aug. 16th. Album called Live In Japan, which is remixed versions of the originals from the original masters, and some alternate versions from other shows while they were there. Well worth picking up.

  • this is not from Made in Japan...

  • Deep purple, number one

  • Where's the recording from the original ALBUM, dammitt?! People keep trying to tell me this is the original, well that's bull. I owned this recording for many years, so don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining.

  • Only the Best from Deep Purple!

    Rock It!

  • KILLER version!!

  • Great!

  • Fuckin john lord is so fuckin awesome :D

  • Cualquiera de las 3 versiones son de lo mejor de todos los tiempos en musica ..... un tributo a Deep Purple

  • @wjimenezponce totalmente de acuerdo con mi hermano , Deep Purple es unico y lo sera por siempre

  • Sorry but that's wrong..the re-master has exactly the same concerts as the original vinyl Made In Japan....this one however is taken from the 3 CD set Live In Japan...different concert from the version on MIJ.

  • @seventiesclassic

YOU ARE OK MISTER, LOKING FOR VERSION FOOTAGE, THAT IS THE ORIGINAL , FOUND HERE IN YOU TUBE

  • Comment removed

  • @seventiesclassic

what hapenned mr. i only told that you are ok, i dont undestand

  • @seventiesclassic, you are correct, this is not the

version from Made In Japan. I have not been able to find it on youtube.

  • big fat fracking tires!

  • the power of this band is just fucking AWESOME! I am a typical Purple/Zep/Sabs fan from way back then but Purple live to me was ahead of everyone!

  • typo..comprising*..not compromising lol.

  • Despite the video showing the Made In Japan cover...this version is not from that album..there is a 3 disc set called Live In Japan, compromising each concert on each disc..this version is from the concert on 16th August.

  • definitive ultimate best live version of this petard !!! the equalization also had reached the stereo perfection in compares to 72/70's gigs!

  • this is such an awesome song!

    Raise it to the MAX!

  • 1st song 1st night right?

  • bloody hell - totally awesome

  • Fantastic..the band was a fine tuned machine at this time. cheers.

  • This is the best version of this song ever. Deep Purple were at their peak here.

  • good morning?!

  • Japan venues made early starts,,,around 6

  • "Good morning"..... Rock n´roll.

  • lol

  • Saw them yesterday in Belgium, one of the best 2,5 hours in my life!

  • that's just dp by the name - not the classic setting

  • Jon Lord...what an incredible Hammond organist.

  • Greatest song with the greatest guitar player ever...

  • All 3 versions of this song from these shows on Aug 15, 16, & 17 , 1972 are terrific. People may prefer one over the other but nobody can deny that all 3 versions rock & rock & rock some more.

  • la mejor cancion

  • Great versions of this awesome song!!!!!

  • this song is for my friend DeepPurpleIsTheBest, the best version from Highay Star.

  • es mui bueno

  • Just listening to this song, and I can smell the good reefer we were smoking back in 72-73. It was called "jamaican", not too strong, nice and sweet, it was just right.

  • Loo mejor del mundo
