You didnt really mention the tier "system", what you describe sound most like a tier 3 game.
For those interested: Tier 1 at this tier it only your little group of players who are hunting together, they dont know if there are other hunters out there, or even if there are diffrent types of monsters, if they have only seen a vampire. Tier 2: This is the "Compact" tier, at this tier you are part of a small or very loosly organised group of hunters, like "Network 0" = Trying to expose monsters
I hated Reckoning, and hated it so much that I avoided Vigil like the plague. Your review of Slasher caused me to take a look at it, and that supplement got me interested in it. Now, I want to play it, but can't seem to find anyone else interested in anything but d20 :(
Great review - I gotta say, man, you've got to be one of the most chill people I've ever seen in my life. Would love to game with you sometime. I was sent here by Webhead123 after asking around, wondering what happened to DeTzardis and all his videos. I know he did a review of Hunter as well, and I was looking to see what I could find about the game. Been thinking about picking it up as well as other books in the WoD line.
I have to say my favourite faction in Hunter is The Union - Blue-collar vigilante groups lynching monsters and killers purely to protect their communities and families.
I've played a good bit of the NWOD & a lot of the OWOD. Personally, I can play either but really like OWOD a lot better. DIdn't care for the old orange book hunter. I liked the Hunter's Hunted style better, lower powered hunters are better as it makes the game really scary.
Do you remember a character in oWoD called Sullivan Dane? The first Hunter, I believe. He appeared briefly in Chicago by Night and in various supplements after then, causing havoc around the World of Darkness.
A much better antagonist than Samuel Haight, anyway.
@clackclickbang Yeah, I remember him. Think he was in the 2nd Vampire core book. He had auspex 1, I believe.
Samuel Haight really just always rubbed me as the kind of npc WW constantly told you not to make, then of course made the exact same thing. Thought he was weak. The skin dancer was an interesting idea.
Samuel Haight was this deliberately overpowered kinfolk ghoul with mage abilities. Thank great Azathoth that he ended up dead and soul-merged with an ashtray.
Slasher is a very fun product, allowing you to see some of the flip-side of the Hunter life. What happens when you go too far? and all that.
Usually for music I just think of a song in my collection that vaguely matches the theme of the game I'm talking about. In this case I couldn't think of any songs about hunting except for 'Hunting Tigers' which I think works quite well anyway.

@Droogie128 That's one of the great banes of our hobby. Some people can't see past bloody D20.

@clackclickbang I've got the same darn problem. When I mention WoD at the local hobby/comic shops, they look at my like I've got leprosy.

@HeathbrookBadhwar It's a shame. WoD is becoming far too niche.

Great review! I'm about to make a character for a low-tier, street-level chronicle and this really got me interested in the game.
Also, nice to include some influences from The Wire. Best tv series ever, hands down.

@Wolf3118 Thanks for the compliment! Should you ever be in my area of the UK, you're welcome to come to my club.
Hunter is a superb RPG and I thoroughly recommend it. Even after all this time, it's still my favourite nWoD game.

@WalGunPro088 684 now! I love the Lucifuge, and this is still my favourite World of Darkness game.

One of those games I'd love to play, but probably not have fun GMing.

Fantastic. I really enjoyed Witchfinders, now I must purchase Slasher. This is not helping my nWoD purchasing addiction!
P.S. You should give us info on the ridiculously enjoyable tunes you play at intro.
