Anyone saying he sucks live needs to check one of the other vids of this performance taken from further back. All you can hear this close is the on-stage sound which sucks. The mix out front was awesome and J's vocals fit way better, and obvs its a cool ass gesture to Yauch and the BBs.

A nice gesture, and much more appropriate than Coldplay's cover of 'Fight For Your Right', but it still sucks. I mean everything except Jay-Z's voice is great (i.e. the Beasties' original backing), but his delivery stinks - almost a monotone, no stage presence or charisma. Can't appreciate the guy and definitely can't understand his success. Sorry.

I am a Jay fan, but a MUCH bigger Beastie fan. As many have mentioned, very nice gesture, great tribute, etc. It would have been so no matter where in the set he performed it. OPENING with it and flowing it into his own material gained Jay some new respect from me. That actually took some thought beforehand - very cool.
