I have ADHD And I refuse to go on drugs, they nearly killed my parents, I find it annoying how normal people think they have ADHD when they are just a tad hyper, or just a tad distracted.. You really need to clarify your 99% remark. It really takes the wind out of your whole video. While I agree that ADHD maybe overdiagnosed, 99% might be a little overboard.
Take me for example: I failed the third grade for six grade the eighth grade twice... and graduated high school when I was 21 years and 10 months old. I was never bad in school I was never kicked out of school and never skipped or sat out a year I just could not do the work.. I was bored and I daydreamed.
I do know someone with a legitimate case of ADHD: My eight year old cousin. He has NO ACCESS TO ANYTHING SUGARY. No juice, candy, nothing because they keep their kids on a low-sugar diet for health reasons. But he was still always hyper. So they had him put on a low dose regimine to keep him from seriously hurting himself because that's all his excess energy was causing him to do. He was never enrolled in public school so they could keep an eye on how the pills effect him. Home schooled now.
he's 20 years old and he can get away with so many things because of his 'disability'.
he still lives with me, my mum and my dad.
he refuses to get a job, refuses to go to tafe, gets money from the government because of his disability, refuses to help pay the bills, refuses to keep the house clean, etc.
and he gets away with it because of his disability.
i don't have any disabilitys that im aware of, and I can never get away with anything.
im naturally hiper and do very random things im worse than some of the ADHD kids at my school but im not consitered ADHA so i think there all faking it

my boyfriend's parents force him to take all this medication before he can leave the house. it makes me so depressed cuz he has really bad mood swings and acts like a zombie :(

Growing up, I was of the 1% with true, full-blown ADHD. Of course, my parents had me drugged and turned into a zombie. Hey to them, it was better than me being jittery and unable to sit still. And my focus and concentration problems were shit without my Ritalin back then. I was put on all kinds of meds since then, whether it be for ADHD or whatever it was the doctors kept switching my diagnosis to as I got older. Now at 26, been off all meds for just over five years, and never felt better. :)
Meds are a "crutch" just like real crutches help you move around when your leg brakes, ADHD drugs help you function in society when nobody would like dealing with you otherwise. But just like a guy using crutches for 10 years, ADHD meds for extended periods point to other ongoing problems.
All behaviors have a "dual" source. There are 2 causes; chemicals in the brain yes, but also the habits that influence their existence in the first place. If you change one you will change the other.
My step daughter has "ADHD". When I met her she was 6 and controlled her mom and kicked and screamed when she didn't get her way like watching a show or buying a toy. She would literally bite me and kick me and tell her mom she didn't love her if she had to go to bed before she wanted to.
After 3 years of spending time with her and talking to her about what she does and dealing with consequences she is a little hyper but is a completely different person.

they do not have ADHD! yes people do have it, but it effects a whole range of things in your life, not just the fact that you get bored easily. cause really, a whole load of people get bored easily. if you want to see if you really have ADHD you should go to a place where they can properly diagnose you

I think it's very possible that TV used as a babysitter is the real cause of ADHD. The whole idea behind television marketing is NOT to lose your attention, so they're always flashing this or that to keep you watching, and it ruins your concentration.

I have ADD and not ADHD but it's quite similar. I use a concentration pill called "Ritaline". Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have a huge anxiety about getting addicted to it >.<.
I don't have ADHD... But i stop doing things when it gets boring.. (Like cleaning my room. >_>) Or reading.. or dishes. or watching a movie I've seen a bunch of times.. I almost want to leave my class.. Speaking of... I need to do homework.. It's boring.. so in about an hour i'm going back on youtube. :D
@cheaze69 A friend of mine has ADHD and he hates vegetables, pretty much eats nothing but meat. Never heard that one but then again, I don't know much about ADHD.
i have ADHDD and i took drugs for it when i was younger that actually worked. nowadays, i choose not to because they keep me up for nearly 48 hours and turns me into a vegetable after a couple hours

My mother has ADD and my brother does too. My brother has been diagnosed and he has it majorly. We got him on meds because it effects his school work and everything. We got him OFF of meds because he just isn't himself with them. My parents are good parents and they want the best for my kid brother, my baby sis, and me, the teenage girl.
They claimed I had ADHD, so I took meds for it. I REALLY had ADHD, untill I stopped taking the meds. Point of the story, meds create things that were first unknown ;D
my moms a neuropsychologist so she was very hesitant to put my younger brother on drugs for adhd but they have helped him a lot and made it a bit easier for him to focus in school
@staple006 wanna know a secret? the majority of reason so many ppl r on differient kinds of drugs (anti depressants, T4'S do to migrains, etc) is because of two things: not enough water and vaccinations. 4x160ml of water every morning before eating anything for 180 consistant days can cure cancer. vaccinations made my oldest brother parshly paralized on his entire right side and he now has seizures. h1n1 shots had 250 000 times more murcury in it then u can eat in a day. its pretty sick.

I legitimately have ADHD, and all of my friends know I do because I'm not ashamed of it :p and when I forget to take my medication they say they can DEFINITELY see a difference. XD I'm still myself when I'm on it, but I'm a more together person and I don't seem crazy or all over the place. :3
My brother as well as myself have been diagonsed with ADHD. I've been refusing to take the medicine because i just believe i'm happy and have energy. But my brother used to be the same way and now he is a "zombie" all because they dont want to listen to him.

I graduated with a 4.0 and received the top scholarship at the best public university in my state, which is only granted to 8 students out of each incoming class.
However, I have struggled in college, I have tried medication and have found that it exacerbates my clinical anxiety problem. I simply cannot focus to take complete notes and often miss critical information and I have no control over it. It is incredibly frustrating.
I have ADHD and OCD. My mother has OCD. My father's brother, and my mother's brother had ADHD. (both of which are dead.) My mother and father took me to the docter recently, and he dianosed me with a mild case of ADHD and even milder case of OCD. Thank God it wasn't bad. Onison, not to be a hater, but what's wrong with taking medicine when it helps me? My parents aren't irresposible. Their helping me by giving me this medicine. They love me, and they listen to me. I'm not trying to hate. :)

@eeveeheart I believe he is talking about the children who are misdiagnosed with ADHD and are put on unnecessary medications when all they need is better parenting. I am very glad that you only have mild OCD. I have OCD and I obsessively count things, add things up such as phone numbers, repeat actions usually about 8 times (as 8 is my favorite number), and I wash myself obsessively. My OCD also makes me a grammar/spelling nazi lol.
i used to take medication for my ADD in 6th grade. i stoped taking them close to the end of the year. then i read book that said thos kinds of meds can kill you. so im not going back to them.
I truly do have adhd and if i go insane but i dont take pills, i just kind of resist the urge to bother everyone, btw i love reading when i'm bored, only when i'm bored
My friend was doing really poorly in his classes,could never organize or sit still. His mom kept making elaborate schedules for him to help, but he never improved. He got tested and was found to have ADD. His mom didn't want to accept that there was something "wrong" with her son and didn't give him meds. He was failing classes. Just at the end of the school year, his mom finally put him on something to help him focus and his grades finally soared, but by that time he still needed summer school.

I do have ADHD, and i do need the medicine to think straight. Because when i don't take them, i keep getting low grades, i let my emotions go to much, i can't sit stil, i don't think about what i say. My parents don't suck, cause actually i'm the one saying:'I think i have ADHD' They got me tested, and it turned out i had it, and i'm still glad i have the medicins, because now, i have everything sorted out in my head.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in 8th grade... I was never medicated and I made it through school perfectly fine. I am off to college entering a software engineering program. Either I was misdiagnosed, or this disorder isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
I don't always think it's the parent's fault. I also blame doctors and school personnel. My little brother was told that he had ADD by school staff and doctors. My mom refused to put him on the meds. They told her it was bad parenting not to. So, afraid of being a terrible mother (which she never was), she gave them to him, but when he complained about how they made him feel, she didn't refill the prescription.
From what I've read about Ritalin specifically is that it seems to only work for people with ADHD to make them relax, due to people with ADHD having a decrease in blood flow to the brain when focusing, and Ritalin increase that blood flow, making it easier for them to focus and thus sit still. When people without ADHD take Ritalin, their normal focusing blood flow increases even more, making them hyper and have increased energy. However, it has almost the same effect as cocain, and is addictive.
I'm pretty sure I have ADHD, but I also have a number of other conditions including OCD, which is exacerbated by drugs like Ritalin (which I was prescribed at age 6 but went off of because of side effects). Ritalin is a very powerful drug, so I think a lot of caution is required even if a person does have ADHD.
I know exactly what you mean! I have ADHD, and I work my tail off to get good grades. It kills me when I see the other kids in the resource room asleep on their book, and blaming their laziness, and lack of drive on there supposed learning disorder. You can easily tell who has it, and who doesn't when you really do in fact struggle with it yourself.
This kid I sit next to in class talks all the time and pisses me off. I felt so bad when I realized he had ADHD. I myself now wonder if I have it since I was always a smart kid, but now my grades go downhill. Even though I try my best and all that :\

I've been told I have adhd from a lot of people. It is hard for me to focus on one thing. I normally forget what I need to be doing or what needs to be done. A teacher talked to me about my focusing problems. I told my dad about it. He told me he doesnt know if i have it because he isnt around me enough... I told my grandma about it. I have some friends with ADHD and they learned how to control themselves without pills. All they needed was some compassion and patience from friends and family.
I have ADD which is ADHD without the hyper bit, I use to be a hyper child though but now I'm not. I got diagnosed with it 5 years ago and my parents have never wanted me to be put on pills because of it. I also have visual eye stress which is linked and epilepsy which is also linked and I can't go on Ritalin as it can cause fits and I can't take tablets for epilepsy as they make me fall asleep due to my ADD. I don't see why someone would make up having it, schools don't even understand it.

Did you know that ADHD can be cured in two weeks by cutting additives out of foods? I was on various temporary fixes for my ADHD for three years. Ritalin, and concerrta. I stopped taking all of these pills 5 years agoo, when I decided I needed to find a permanent solution. I became vegatarian, and never eat processed foods. When I do, I begin feeling hyperactive. When I talk to people who knew me five years ago, they remark on how much more laid back I am.

I actually have ADHD. I have a LOT of trouble concentrating when I'm not on meds. Finding good meds isn't easy though. I've switched meds 4 times since I started taking them when I was 7. I'm 14 now and I usually forget to take them but fortunately, my attention span is now longer than that of a squirrel. I do agree that some parents are stupid and need to really get to know their kids before putting them on meds.

My freind has ADHD, he takes medicine for it. I hated it though because the pills made him so boring and almost lifeless. It was easy to tell when he didn't take them because he was always joking around and being goofy. He'd do horrible in classes without them, but the pills would make him feel so bad that he just had enough of it and stopped taking them.
@maxmra Last year we went to a theme park with the whole school, and a friend of mine who has ADHD took more medicine that day because he though all the excitement would make him go CRAZY. It was really too bad he took more medicine that day, because if he went crazy it wouldn't be weird because we all act crazy some times, specially in theme parks. When i was young i was diagnosed with adhd just to be able to get pills. Sure they worked against the problems i had (which was due to depression and bulling) but the pills fucked me up later in life. My parents meant no harm, but they did harm me. I hated those pills and the bulling got worse when they knew i had adhd. When i got older i refused to eat more pills and i felt so much better :)
i was diagnosed with ADHD and borderline autism at age 4, and my parents had the perfect cure: no drugs, didint tell me that anything was wrong, and instead taught me how to get over it. i am now a perfectly normal person thanks to them :D

There was this time that I told my mom to stop buying the medications for me, so yeah I stopped without the psychiatrist's permission. The other day, I told my guidance counselor that I stopped taking medications and she was like, "WHY?"

My brother's elementary teacher said he had add or adhd either way my mother refused to put him on drugs instead she gave him fish oil vitamins and natural learner factors with no side effects about a month later the teachers were all happy because they though my mom put him on Ritalin they were so pissed off when they found out it was health food store things.
It's not over-diagnosed, it's just applied to a lot of the wrong kids. Most are actually smart enough to consolidate for it when they're younger and just get passed along, like me, until they are on the verge of failing out of college.
Well, I have ADD not ADHD but its sort of the same thing. I have a hard time paying attention for long periods of time. I like to read but I can't sit there and read 400 pages without stopping. I usually stop doing stuff and start something else, making my parents annoyed with all the messes and un-finished stuff I do. But I usually finish whatever eventually.

My sister has legit ADHD, and it makes me sick when all these kids are like, "Oh, I have ADHD."
And I'm like, "Uhm, No. No, you do not. If you want to see ADHD then go look at my sister."
Their response everytime, "Well, my mom says I have it."
My respose to that?..."Your mom hates you." :)
I understand that there are different levels of ADHD, but I really hate that all these people think that they are metally ill because they get a bit crazy sometimes.

You really need to clarify your 99% remark. It really takes the wind out of your whole video. While I agree that ADHD maybe overdiagnosed, 99% might be a little overboard.
Take me for example: I failed the third grade for six grade the eighth grade twice... and graduated high school when I was 21 years and 10 months old. I was never bad in school I was never kicked out of school and never skipped or sat out a year I just could not do the work.. I was bored and I daydreamed.

I do know someone with a legitimate case of ADHD: My eight year old cousin. He has NO ACCESS TO ANYTHING SUGARY. No juice, candy, nothing because they keep their kids on a low-sugar diet for health reasons. But he was still always hyper. So they had him put on a low dose regimine to keep him from seriously hurting himself because that's all his excess energy was causing him to do. He was never enrolled in public school so they could keep an eye on how the pills effect him. Home schooled now.

Growing up, I was of the 1% with true, full-blown ADHD. Of course, my parents had me drugged and turned into a zombie. Hey to them, it was better than me being jittery and unable to sit still. And my focus and concentration problems were shit without my Ritalin back then. I was put on all kinds of meds since then, whether it be for ADHD or whatever it was the doctors kept switching my diagnosis to as I got older. Now at 26, been off all meds for just over five years, and never felt better. :)

Meds are a "crutch" just like real crutches help you move around when your leg brakes, ADHD drugs help you function in society when nobody would like dealing with you otherwise. But just like a guy using crutches for 10 years, ADHD meds for extended periods point to other ongoing problems.
All behaviors have a "dual" source. There are 2 causes; chemicals in the brain yes, but also the habits that influence their existence in the first place. If you change one you will change the other.

My step daughter has "ADHD". When I met her she was 6 and controlled her mom and kicked and screamed when she didn't get her way like watching a show or buying a toy. She would literally bite me and kick me and tell her mom she didn't love her if she had to go to bed before she wanted to.
After 3 years of spending time with her and talking to her about what she does and dealing with consequences she is a little hyper but is a completely different person.

@staple006 wanna know a secret? the majority of reason so many ppl r on differient kinds of drugs (anti depressants, T4'S do to migrains, etc) is because of two things: not enough water and vaccinations. 4x160ml of water every morning before eating anything for 180 consistant days can cure cancer. vaccinations made my oldest brother parshly paralized on his entire right side and he now has seizures. h1n1 shots had 250 000 times more murcury in it then u can eat in a day. its pretty sick.

I graduated with a 4.0 and received the top scholarship at the best public university in my state, which is only granted to 8 students out of each incoming class.
However, I have struggled in college, I have tried medication and have found that it exacerbates my clinical anxiety problem. I simply cannot focus to take complete notes and often miss critical information and I have no control over it. It is incredibly frustrating.

I have ADHD and OCD. My mother has OCD. My father's brother, and my mother's brother had ADHD. (both of which are dead.) My mother and father took me to the docter recently, and he dianosed me with a mild case of ADHD and even milder case of OCD. Thank God it wasn't bad. Onison, not to be a hater, but what's wrong with taking medicine when it helps me? My parents aren't irresposible. Their helping me by giving me this medicine. They love me, and they listen to me. I'm not trying to hate. :)

I am very glad that you only have mild OCD. I have OCD and I obsessively count things, add things up such as phone numbers, repeat actions usually about 8 times (as 8 is my favorite number), and I wash myself obsessively. My friend was doing really poorly in his classes,could never organize or sit still. His mom kept making elaborate schedules for him to help, but he never improved. He got tested and was found to have ADD. His mom didn't want to accept that there was something "wrong" with her son and didn't give him meds. He was failing classes. Just at the end of the school year, his mom finally put him on something to help him focus and his grades finally soared, but by that time he still needed summer school.

I don't always think it's the parent's fault. I also blame doctors and school personnel. My little brother was told that he had ADD by school staff and doctors. My mom refused to put him on the meds. They told her it was bad parenting not to. So, afraid of being a terrible mother (which she never was), she gave them to him, but when he complained about how they made him feel, she didn't refill the prescription.

From what I've read about Ritalin specifically is that it seems to only work for people with ADHD to make them relax, due to people with ADHD having a decrease in blood flow to the brain when focusing, and Ritalin increase that blood flow, making it easier for them to focus and thus sit still. When people without ADHD take Ritalin, their normal focusing blood flow increases even more, making them hyper and have increased energy. However, it has almost the same effect as cocain, and is addictive.

I'm pretty sure I have ADHD, but I also have a number of other conditions including OCD, which is exacerbated by drugs like Ritalin (which I was prescribed at age 6 but went off of because of side effects). Ritalin is a very powerful drug, so I think a lot of caution is required even if a person does have ADHD.

It kills me when I see the other kids in the resource room asleep on their book, and blaming their laziness, and lack of drive on there supposed learning disorder. Yea, don't take pills. It fucked me up when I was in middle school.
The current belief is that those with ADD or ADHD can't pay attention, I disagree.
I believe my ADD gives me the ability to pay attention to multiple things at once, each "thing" on the level of normal attentiveness, you just need to hone your great power. Then you can join my global regime, and we can take over the world, and impose eugenics, wiping out everyone without ADD.

I have some friends with ADHD and they learned how to control themselves without pills. All they needed was some compassion and patience from friends and family.

I have ADD which is ADHD without the hyper bit, I use to be a hyper child though but now I'm not. I got diagnosed with it 5 years ago and my parents have never wanted me to be put on pills because of it. I also have visual eye stress which is linked and epilepsy which is also linked and I can't go on Ritalin as it can cause fits and I can't take tablets for epilepsy as they make me fall asleep due to my ADD. I don't see why someone would make up having it, schools don't even understand it.

It seems now that ADHD is an epidemic. How come everyone has it? Oh yeah, because half of them probably don't unless they are specifically tested for it by a certified doctor.

Did you know that ADHD can be cured in two weeks by cutting additives out of foods? I was on various temporary fixes for my ADHD for three years. Ritalin, and concerrta. I stopped taking all of these pills 5 years agoo, when I decided I needed to find a permanent solution. I became vegatarian, and never eat processed foods. When I do, I begin feeling hyperactive. When I talk to people who knew me five years ago, they remark on how much more laid back I am.

i have ADHD and i wish i didnt one reason is the pill i have to take causes me to gain weight.another is i now feel that if i were to stop taking my pills i would be a complete wreck.and btw i love to read books ive loved them ever since i could read.

I have ADHD and i used to have to take pills which basically made me starve myself and have sleep deprevation, untill I turned 18 and said no. but atleast I got my homework done! Fuck you mom and dad.

I have a.d.d and when i was in 6th grade i had to take medication to help me pay attention in class. i wasn't hyper at all. i was really shy. i stoped taking meds now.

I actually have ADHD. I have a LOT of trouble concentrating when I'm not on meds. Finding good meds isn't easy though. I've switched meds 4 times since I started taking them when I was 7. I'm 14 now and I usually forget to take them but fortunately, my attention span is now longer than that of a squirrel. I do agree that some parents are stupid and need to really get to know their kids before putting them on meds.

I was diagnosed with ADD, I was just....Raised well, and learned how to apply my "extra energy" to things that didn't result in me breaking something.
Half of our generation has been incorrectly diagnosed with hyper activity disorders. God forbid someone has trouble sitting in class for five hours straight. Who needs parenting when you have Ritalin?

my brother takes adhd pills and legitimately, if he doesn't take them, he's fucking psycho. and my parents are NOT bad parents because i turned out at the top of my class with no bad traits. so before you go and say it's parenting, open your fucking eyes. if he doesn't take them he has 0 attention span. not bad parenting, douche.

My freind has ADHD, he takes medicine for it. I hated it though because the pills made him so boring and almost lifeless. It was easy to tell when he didn't take them because he was always joking around and being goofy. He'd do horrible in classes without them, but the pills would make him feel so bad that he just had enough of it and stopped taking them.

@maxmra Last year we went to a theme park with the whole school, and a friend of mine who has ADHD took more medicine that day because he though all the excitement would make him go CRAZY. It was really too bad he took more medicine that day, because if he went crazy it wouldn't be weird because we all act crazy some times, specially in theme parks. Instead of acting a little crazy, he was like a ZOMBIE the whole day. He was so incredible quiet, boring and slow that day, it kinda killed the mood

When i was young i was diagnosed with adhd just to be able to get pills. Sure they worked against the problems i had (which was due to depression and bulling) but the pills fucked me up later in life. My parents meant no harm, but they did harm me. I hated those pills and the bulling got worse when they knew i had adhd. When i got older i refused to eat more pills and i felt so much better :)

i was diagnosed with ADHD and borderline autism at age 4, and my parents had the perfect cure: no drugs, didint tell me that anything was wrong, and instead taught me how to get over it. i am now a perfectly normal person thanks to them :D

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid. But after talking with a bunch of my peers, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't actually exist and is really just a goverment conspiracy to get kids addicted to speed [which is actually what the drug I was put on, riddlin, was]. xD

Actually, I am bipolar but I kinda have ADHD as well, I don't know with my psychiatrist. There was this time that I told my mom to stop buying the medications for me, so yeah I stopped without the psychiatrist's permission. The other day, I told my guidance counselor that I stopped taking medications and she was like, "WHY?"
I just said, IT DOESN'T HELP! I feel like faking myself when I take it, it's like I am becoming someone else. Damn medications. Nice video.

I'm almost positive I have ADHD, but I don't say I have it. I want to get tested soon, just so I can know, but my mom, who legitimately has ADHD, keeps forgetting. xD Anyway, if they do diagnose me with ADHD, neither my mom nor I has any interest in head drugs. They way they first diagnosed me was simply trying to hold my attention by taling to me. They confirmed the diagnosis with an EEG so yeah I do fucking have it.

My brother's elementary teacher said he had add or adhd either way my mother refused to put him on drugs instead she gave him fish oil vitamins and natural learner factors with no side effects about a month later the teachers were all happy because they though my mom put him on Ritalin they were so pissed off when they found out it was health food store things.

It's not over-diagnosed, it's just applied to a lot of the wrong kids. Most are actually smart enough to consolidate for it when they're younger and just get passed along, like me, until they are on the verge of failing out of college.

Well, I have ADD not ADHD but its sort of the same thing. I have a hard time paying attention for long periods of time. I like to read but I can't sit there and read 400 pages without stopping. I usually stop doing stuff and start something else, making my parents annoyed with all the messes and un-finished stuff I do. But I usually finish whatever eventually.

Word up! My teachers and parents thought i had ADHD / ADD and honestly i am the only one who knows what really goes on in my mind and i can say that i do not have a mental dissorder, I'm simply lacking of intresst in some stuff.. and i think it's the same for most ADHD stamped kids these days..

My sister has legit ADHD, and it makes me sick when all these kids are like, "Oh, I have ADHD."
And I'm like, "Uhm, No. No, you do not. If you want to see ADHD then go look at my sister."
Their response everytime, "Well, my mom says I have it."
My respose to that?..."Your mom hates you." :)
I understand that there are different levels of ADHD, but I really hate that all these people think that they are metally ill because they get a bit crazy sometimes.
