WWII the ladies really stepped up and did their part for the war effort and really made the difference. God bless all the "Rosie the Riverters" for the job they did.
There is an old lady across the street fomr me by the name of Louis, she worked with "Rosie the Riviter". Im proud just to live across the street from her.
This was one of the greatest groups that ever lived! The Four Vagabonds are in great company with The Golden Gate Quartet, The Mills Brothers, Norfolk Jubilee Quartet, and The Alphabetical Four.
Except for the ukulele in the opening bars of the song, I think all of the musical sounds were made by the musicians themselves. that's impressive musicianship. The amazing backstory to this recording is that the Vagabonds only had an hour to prepare it and another song "Rose of Charing Cross", which was to be the "A" side. They learned it, arranged it, harmonized it and recorded it nailing it on the first take. How is that for setting production records!!
Not one of these women have the physical shape of Ralph the riv…Rosie the riveter. If serving openly is only becoming present today maybe Ralph or I mean Rosie did the next patriotic duty-build. Put that into your text books, Ralph and Charlie help win WW 2 brrrr.
Really happy you put this up thank you. Makes me proud to be a woman. Anyone who thinks that women can't should watch this and most of the footage shot of women doing great things of WWII! Just saying...
This nation can be oh-so-proud of the ladies that Won The War... Yup, without them, there would not have been the number of war machines to support our guys overseas. Hats off to all those women...
@20thCenturyQueen I love this song. I actually use it in a DUKW tour I do to help explain how women were responsible for building military equipment, such as DUKW's. Knocks everybody out!
One correction to the lyrics: It should be "When they gave her a production 'E'," not "a production need" The "E" was the war department's recognition of excellence.
The Four Vagabonds were one of the most popular vocal groups of the early 40s but are sadly nearly forgotten today. They were highly gifted singers and were known for their sound effects.. These aren't trumpets - those are the Four Vagabonds vocalizing trumpets.
@Dethmasheen If you are pro equality then you are pro true feminism.
Some indeed have taken feminism to the extreme, but true feminism is simply this "men and women are equal". Those that say that women are better than men are not feminists.

This is wishful thinking. The majority of feminists are just angry women that are butthurt. It all has pretty little to do with equality. I see what you're saying, but I also know reality.

The correct lyrics 0:40 are "when they gave her a production E, she was as proud as a girl could be"
The "E" was a special pin that they gave out during WWII as an award for production for the war effort.

Is Rosie the reason why the people who made BioShock gave the Big Daddy this name? That's too cool! The song is so great. :)

Thats exactly what I thought. Rapture, in the game of coarse, was built around the time of WW2. Also, Rosie's use a "brrrrrrrr" Rivet gun!

feminists are as retarded as chauvinists... each form of extremism can go and fuck itself in its face.
I'm pro equality - but against fanatics.
