how do you get one locomotive to stay put and another one to go but there are both in the yard say and i want my sd-40-2 to go but my amtrak will go the same direction to how do you fix that i dont have any dcc trains or equitment of dcc does dcc fix that plzzz get back to me
@MrStarwars25 - If you don't want to go converting to DCC, you need to isolate sections of your layout into separate electrical "blocks", and wire them through centre-off DPDT switches back to your controllers, so that each block can be switched to one controller or the other, or neither (off). This is called Cab Control. For more info, Google it.
I'm old school and I prefer it that way personally. I have 9 operating trains and 9 operating transformers (power supplies) to run each train and I absolutely love it. DCC is ok for some folks but it's just not my cup of tea. For those of you who want and enjoy DCC operation, I wish you all the best with all that hi-tech stuff but, I assure you I have just as much fun with a whole lot less headaches. I have sound also and every switch uses a manual ground throw. Old school all the way!!!
@walkerbelle Well, i gota say, if you went DCC, your layout that is "just as much fun" would be even better with DCC. It opens up a whole new spectrum of operation and enjoyment. No more isolated sections and section switch's, less wireing, easy consisting, total control of loco lights, even manual throttle notching with Soundtraxx decoders, there are so many positives, they far outweigh the negatives. I made the change about 5 years ago and Ive never looked back. I can do so many things that
Hey I'm thinking about buying a dcc train set and i still have a dc locomotive from my old train set and some extra track. Is there a specific kind of track you have to have for dcc to work or does dcc work with any kind of track?
It's hard to recommend a book since I haven't read any on DCC. Probably the best bet is Kalmbach. They have one called the "The DCC Guide" that looks promising. They also have one called "DCC Made Easy" but it's a few years old and may be dated now.
There are also email groups on Yahoo for DCC and also specific brands, like Digitrax. The trouble is, sometimes the advice you get is good, sometimes not.

@HaloOasis DCC works with any track. You need a DCC-equipped locomotive and a DCC controller.

Hey man, I really like the conrail with the marker lights, is that included in the video?
Tjsingle14 2 years ago
Yes, the blue Conrail unit is included. That's part of the reason why it's on the cover and shown in the trailer.
tsgmultimedia 2 years ago
Yeah i am considering putting marker lights in my SW1500

Cool, I'll be picking that up shortly as I'm getting ready to convert all my models to DCC.

i would be happy if they did an n scale version of this. it would make my life easier
upnscale34 2 years ago
Most of the same principles can be applied regardless of scale. However, we will be producing a similar N scale video in the future. Stay tuned!

I had to make minor adjustments to the narration. I will not be uploading it again.
