The Russian Navy is a shambles. The Russians have had repeated disasters and their engineering is so poor it's absolutely amazing that anything works. I was in the US Navy and I remember looking at the Soviet rust buckets. We were amazed they could float. The Russians never made a sub or a surface combatant that could stand a chance against any of the modern US Navy Ships. If you have ever looked at the CIC on a US Combatant? Let's get real. The Russians had to sell off their Navy just 2 survive

What? Russian Engineering poor? Russian budget poor yes. Russian engineering poor I hardly think so. On a tenth of the budget they ran a space program that kept the Americans busy. Sure things didn't all work, but don't blame the engineers, blame the economy. The figher planes were right up there mechanicaly, the rockets had four times the compression of what Americans thought possible, they had the first supersonic torpedos, but you say poor engineering!

My brother was a submariner, and he told me how during a NATO exercise in the Atlantic, one of our 1960´s refurbished piece -of-scrap diesel subs managed to creep in undetected and surface right in the middle of of the american taskforce. If it was the real deal, the carrier would have been sunk. They popped the hatch and laughed. The americans were stumped at how he managed that.

US military airplane park is generally older than Russia's. 200 F-22s won't make even a dent in an airforce of Russia's size. F-18s are cannon fodder. F-35 program will soon be "happily" scrapped on cost overruns. Carriers are floating ducks, USSR developed multiple systems to kill them.
