  • @MoralInvasion and what? That doesn't make all of us Maori the same. The maori that make up those stats are the idiots that don't even try to have a better life unlike the rest of us. Don't place us all in one category based on those statistics, please. Just because some Maori do stupid shit and get themselves into trouble, doesn't mean the rest of us do. Some of us work hard for a living, stay in school, get good grades, go to Uni and raise a healthy and happy family. You're quite ignorant.

  • Comment removed

  • @MoralInvasion what makes you think all maori do that? I'm only 18 and don't even have kids yet, and I wouldn't even dream of laying a hand on them.I absolitely HATE people that do. Kids are the most precious things in the world. Only someone really fucked up in the head would abuse them. And only some Maori beat their kids, fortunately for me and many other Maori in this country, we are NOT them. I want nothing more in the world than to be a mum. Please refrain from saying otherwise.

  • @MoralInvasion we aren't all bad. there are good maori out there like myself and my family. Along with another user on here called FQuee who you're familiar with. He's my cousin so ask him what we are like. It isn't the maori people, it's how they were raised. My family are not violent towards their children or elders, they do not abuse drugs, alcohol or members of our family and have ALL gone to university or have a good career. It's other silly maori that make us all look bad but we aren't

  • Comment removed

  • @MoralInvasion not most of them. Many, yes. But certainly not most. There are almost 240 maori in my family all together and the only violent ones are my 3 year old nieces and nephews when they fight over a toy or lolly.

Even so, I do agree that many maori people do commit crimes. But then again they only learn that from the pathetic child abusing thieving idiots they were raised by. We aren't all like Nia Glassey's whanau.

  • @maoriwidavengance Your patience and humility is admirable, most of the Maoris I bait would've lost it by now and hurled abuse and racial taunts about 'baldheads' and all that. I'm pleased you come from a good Maori family, I knew such as a child and their family bond and love for each other was amazing, until they got drunk then everything fell apart, but it was a privilege to know them.

  • @MoralInvasion You're right. Most would lose it. But that's because people taunt our culture. It seriously does hurt alot, and all we wanna do is fight back. We're just defending who we are. Though I don't think that taunting the other culture is making it better. You'd do the same if our maori were taunting our NZ Pakeha. It's just a thing people do, you know?

I agree with you on very many levels though, when anyone gets drunk it is often when they are at their worst. Silly pissheads.

  • @maoriwidavengance ...too bad you're a girl. Otherwise, I would have asked you out on a date ;)

  • @Morallnvasion ............right. except I'm maori. lol

  • these guys arent real moaris like me huhuhu

  • Hard bro.. no matter what iwi, Waikato, Ngati Porou or Nga Puhi, we're all tuturu tangata!! MAORITANGA HARD, TINO RANGATIRATANGA.

  • You've got a right to be proud of your tribe bro.. Nga Puhi go on and on about KUPE, just as you go on and on about TOI. We respect and recognize these tipuna, but believe it or not MAORIDOM does not revolve around them! Nor does it revolve around your tribe!!!! What's the matter.. you can talk smak about other iwi but can't take it when it's dished back!! LMFAO.. Algudz bro, at the end of the day it's TUHEITIA PAKI.. A WAIKATO CHIEF SITTING ON THE THRONE!!

  • @bmonz08 well anyways ive got total respect for tawhio ,,the dude/CHIEF deserves the maori king ship,,hard for me to say LOL but he looks like a true leader and was for his people ..and had geneaology to back him up as well PEACE TO TAiINUI

  • @bmonz08 hey bro im not nga puhi ?

  • @MultiRaiha.. I know lol. I'm just using it as another example, because they're another tribe who likes to pick on the movement. They believe that because they descend from Kupe who was the first Polynesian to discover NZ, they have superior status over iwi in Aotearoa. They're just another very proud iwi like yours. Waikato and the Kingitanga are forever being dissed by other iwi, we're quite used to it. Even my dad who's from Tauranga runs us down lol. All good, supoz comes with the territory.

  • @bmonz08 no probs brother TANGATA WHENUA thats what matters :)

  • Don't worry about the prestige of my iwi bro.. like Potatau, we create our own MANA!! We don't expect to get respect by relying on our whakapapa like some! LOL. Like I said we make moves.. that's why we're one of the most powerful iwi's today, up there making millions. Keep talking the talk bro, don't matter how fluent you are.. when your done talking about all this so called mana you've inherited, can you come prune my gardens! LMAO

  • @bmonz08 dont waste my time with bullshit come back when you get your fact right ?OK LMAO

  • @MultiRaiha.. don't be like dat bro. Why you being so hostile?? Believe it or not, your iwi is not the most important LMFAO. This is FACT!! TOI or KUPE, who really gives a fuck.. POTATAU WAS STILL THE GREATEST CHIEF WHO EVER LIVED!!

  • @bmonz08 dont worry bro we all come through on the ancestor TOI - porou ariki matatara - a whare - te tuhi mareikura- a raurunui -a TOI,, maybe ill consider you to prune my rose gardens ,,regarding you do a proper job LMAO

  • @MultiRaiha. Nah algud, I'll get one of the Ngati Porou kuzzies to do it for me, since your all such good gardeners! Lol still going on about whakapapa, well I suppose you've got to have some kind of argument to put forth aye bro lolz. Don't worry, our whakapapa connects 2 Uenuku through Hoturoa. Does it really matter anyway?? It's that type of narrow minded thinking that led to the division of our Maori ppl and raupatu of the land, so much naivity! Must be why you's made such good Kupapa! lol

  • @MultiRaiha. It's not really about jumping on someone elses waka aye bro.. datz wot I'm trying to say. Potatau was known for his own deeds, created his own mana and came on his own waka. Every iwi in Aoteroa has links to Tainui through marriages, so it doesn't matter what iwi your from.. everyone can trace a link to the Kingitanga line through certain tipuna. I've heard of Toi but couldn't find any info on him.. thanks for the knowledge. It's much appreciated!!

  • Comment removed

  • No offense but the only thing I know about Toi, is that there is a gang chapter named after him in the B.O.P lol. I get all this blah blah from Ngapuhi about their tipuna Kupe being the first to discover Aotearoa and first Maori's here & now Toi being the only paramount line from ancient Polynesia. If it's something your proud of then sweet as but doesn't mean you should start running down other iwi.

  • The Kingitanga represents Kotahitanga & nothing else! All this korero of superiority just comes off as jelousy & envy. Remember the movement is not heriditory & the kingship is open 2 any iwi under the Kingitanga. If you wish to put forth your challenge to the rights of kingship then come to the coronation! Ppl bitch and moan all the time but don't have the guts to do anything about it!! If you believe you have a right, why aren't you doing anything?? Every1 talks the talk but we make the moves!

  • WAIKATO TANIWHARAU..

HE PIKO HE TANIWHA, HE PIKO HE TANIWHA!!!

  • @bmonz08 thats alrite your called prestige comes through kahungunu ,,study your history listen to your elders instead of sending txt book maori LOL

  • @MultiRaiha.. Actually, Tainui are the only iwi who have direct links to every waka of the gr8 migration. Not just thru Kahungunu lol. Potatau's whakapapa is in direct line 2 Ngati Porou thru the marriage of Turongo & Mahinaragni.. This is why the Wharenui of Turangawaewae marae, home of the Kingitanga is named after your ancestor!! KO MAHINAARANGI TE WHARETAPU!! Don't worry you's have a foot in the door my friend lmao.

  • @MultiRaiha.. Your ignorance is very ammusing, however very typical of Ngati Pourou arrogance! In the event of enlightening you.. all you can do is mock my reo?? Xcuse some of us for not growing up with fluent te reo! Bet that makes you feel really high and mighty nei. Well I ain't knocking it, I'd be proud If I was bort up speaking the reo too. Don't worry kare, I explore all of Maori history not the just the history of my own IWI. MAORI HISTORY BROTHER!! KOTAHITANGA TE KAUPAPA O TE KINGITANGA!

  • It's understandable if u cannot comprehend the Kaupapa of Kotahitanga & Maori unity.. After all, Ngati Porou are the only iwi who actually killed members of their own tribe lol. How's the treaty claim going.. is that B.S about raupatu by way of pen actually fooling any1? Does this pertain to the whole iwi or just the Kupapa who fought 4 the British against our fellow Maori!! Hopefully you get a decent amount of putea or land back to support ur ppl so they dnt hav to join gangs for a living lol.

  • @bmonz08 not everyone from Ngati Porou is arrogant or ignorant. I know many people from Ngati Porou that aren't even close, including myself. So please don't place us all in that category.

  • @maoriwidavengance.. arohamai kotiro. I know what you're saying, I was just stating the well known saying about Ngati Porou's pride that can come off to others as arrogance. I'm sorry if that offended you, my apologies.

  • @bmonz08 that well known saying comes from the few Ngati Porou people that always say we are better than everyone else and all that stupid stuff. It disgusts me that afew of my own iwi have even brought that saying upon us all. We dont all think that. No iwi is better than any other iwi and I would never put down someone elses. Thank you for your apology.

  • What an awesome video. Loved the music and the photos were amazing!

  • Great video btw.. ka pai tou mahi, tumeke!! Well done

  • Whats the second song?

    Great video :)

  • Kia-ora, why wasn't there any records of our homeland back in Hawaiki? is there any doco's on this subject? good vid.

  • @directorlog cause it was done orally in our traditions, past down from generation to generation.we now hold whats left of our prestige & culture CHEERS

  • ngati porou east coast are the paramount chiefs of new zealand .originally,,5 chiefs came to uawa to ask for the chief to be be king of nz he wisely turned it down ,,hence tainui getting second choice equal to taupos chief?read your history

  • @MultiRaiha. Kaore koe e mohio!! There were no paramount chiefs of NZ, each iwi had their own individual paramount chiefs. Potatau was offered the Kingship first because he was regarded by Pakeha as the most influential chief at that time & the mana from his deeds was so gr8 that he was respected by all chiefs of Aotearoa! He was the first to turn down the kingship, it was then offered 2 other chiefs who also turned it down. Potatau finally accepted 3rd time around bkoz no1 else had da had gutz!

  • Don't know where you read your history, but it aint in no books published here! Potatau's deeds and history are well documented, have never heard the name of your Ngati Porou chief or any of his deeds?? This may have been the korero you were told, but it would be wise of you to get your facts straight before repeating hear say and running down a great tipuna of Maoridom!!

  • @bmonz08 incorect lol read the history of poverty bay

  • @MultiRaiha. I'll read it when you read the history of the Kingitanga Movement! Tell me, how much do you really know about it?? You sit there and insult not only my tipuna and great chief of NZ but the movement of all our Maori people without knowing it's history! Your whakapapa may go back to Israel for all I care.. u think this gives you the right to run down my people?? We're used to the arrogance of your iwi. The people of the Kingitanga are very humble & aren't troubled by such petty things

  • The great chief Potatau, who was reported by governor Hobson as being the most powerful chief in NZ at the time.. was a man who created his own mana!! He did not rely purley on his whakapapa to support his prestige. He was a true warrior who made things happen.. this is why he was asked again and again to accept the kingship. At that time our ppl needed a warrior who would stand up and fight for our cause to retain our lands.. not kupapa who supported the opposing side lol.

  • @bmonz08 well our chief porourangi been the first descendant of paikea & the royal blood lines of eastern polynesian chief UENUKU MARAETAI & comming in of the first and most prestige lines of toi kairakau also known as toi te huatahi ,,and as you will see if you look at genealogys it shows clearly that each paramount chief of NZ claims descent off toi ,,the people of the east coast also claim prestige comming of the ancestress RUAWAIPU (regarded as the aboriginal peoples )

  • @MultiRaiha. It's nice to know that you can claim prestige from your tipuna, however nobody likes a know it all and this is not ancient polynesia! The Kingitanga never claimed to be a heriditory monarch, but a monarch of the people of their time CHOSEN to represent and unite all iwi. I see no reason why iwi like Ngati Porou and Ngapuhi continue to insult the movements kaupapa when they don't know what it's about. Tell me, what has your so called paramount monarch line done for our ppl thus far??

LMBO. Chur neat alright.. too bad I didn't understand any of it aye lol.

  • I'm looking for the TV series Makatu (2002-2005), a thriller/ drama based on the Maori legends and referred to as a Maori style Twilight Zone. Can't find it on amazon and the NZ sites don't seem to offer any copies suitable for DVD regions other than NZ's. Would be great if someone could make a torrent file for it. Please PM me if you have any suggestions to find Mataku. Cheers.

  • Sweet as! Ive been to NZ for a month and saw many of the things in the video . Maori culture is trully amazing .

  • Sweet as! Ive been to NZ for a month and saw many of the things in the video . Maori culture is trully amazing .

  • this is a really fgood video my teacher even showed us this for an assingment we are doing on the moari of new zealand!! :D good job!!

  • @Roseheart100 ty for appreciation.

  • where can i find good sources(internet, books,...) about maori culture?

  • Going back to my roots from being away for too long - is refreshing for those who kept us together -and the strong challenges are there but the strength of your own people makes a heck of a lot of difference living in a world that sometimes is difficult for a descendant of a beautiful tikanga and mana such as I know from my tupuna makes a world of diffrence - as a people - the sleeping giant has a soft awakening touch amid the prolonged catastrophic experiences of the world.

  • Maoris have the worst negative stats on earth, from child murder to alcohol and drug abuse. From gangs to domestic violence they top the lot. Recent studies clearly show they carry a genetic falt in their makeup that causes them to be violent.

  • @Epochofbelief A lot of marginalized groups are socially, economically, psychologically fucked up. From blacks in the US, Native Americans all over North/South America, Roma(gypsies) in Europe, Aboriginals in Australia, Burukumin in Japan, Arabs in Sweden. The more you learn about different societies the more you notice these trends. It's nothing new. Just try to focus on the positive aspects of their culture & not the bad.

  • @GGLebo23 There is no real poverty in NZ and there are no examples anywhere in the world that I know of a race or group who use their socio-economic status as an excuse for child abuse/murder. Here in NZ Pacific Islanders for instance are much less wealthy on average than Maoris and child murder is unheard of. Likewise in South Africa and Zimbabwe, where there is real poverty infanticide is almost non-existant. Infanticide in pre-colonial Maori culture was an accepted and widespread practice.

  • @GGLebo23 I fail to see any positive aspects of Maori culture. From my perspective it revolves around intimidation, neolithic rituals involving animal noises and very little else.

  • Aloha O Hawai'i... Aloha ke kahi i ke kahi a me malampono makou ka po'e a pau.

    Onipa'a na Maori. A hui hou e ko'u 'Ohana. O Kaleo Keli'ikoa ko'u inoa. Hiu!!!

  • We need to believe in our selves instead of listening to pakeha that try to perpetuate stereotypes and therefore attempt to psycholocially condition us to believe it also. If one moari succeeds, any maori can.

  • pakeha need to get over themselves. we are not all dole bludgers or lazy lol i am a maori, and a computer engineer. i have degree in teaching and earn 80k per year as a technology tutor. my tutor who was maori who also had a masters in physics and my maths tutor, also maori had a degree in science, diploma in IT and a masters in communications.

  • @MrTumekeboy Hey there,

I am a Pakeha Kiwi and MrTumekeboy sadly I have to completely agree with you! We seem to be a nation that likes to stereotype on many different levels and about many different people! BUT please just remember that we are not ALL like that! I have a great respect for Maori as I do for all cultures and I know for a fact that what you have said about both Maori and Pakeha is very true!

I love your username by the way!

    Have An AWESOME Day!

    GOD

    ROCKS

  • What song is this please? The one at the start?

  • Kia Taha, Kia Toa

  • I dont agree entirely of your description about the origins of Maori. The origins of Maori returning to the homeland Aotearoa was not sheer accident, Maori were and still are skilled navigators of the open seas (highways) and astrologers regardless western ideals to make the Maori forget. Whakapapa is valued and set in stone which lays the foundation to connect to One Father and Mother WE ALL share regardless color, ugliness, gender, creed etc..

Please provide sources to your description---->

  • Maoris are nothing but a primitive, unevolved race of murderers and bludgers with a propensity to steal and harm those incapable of defending themselves. Your interpretation of Maori culture is a revised, censored version and has very little to do with the reality of what was probably the most savage and brutal culture in the history of humanity.

  • @Epochofbelief: I truly feel sorry for you and any1 else who chooses to believe the filthy few who have misled the World into a dumbing herd of sheeple.

I suggest you do your homework and prove me wrong, your comment has no substance.

I take it you are a foreigner who doesnt know the 1st thing about Love.

I also wouldnt expect you to understand any lesson based on truth. You are now a waste of time and a liability to all humanity.

I do feel sorry for you. =(

  • i sense a striking similarity to the art of the West coast North american peoples such as a Haida.

  • Hello.

Maori have travelled the globe searching for a missing link important to the existence of all humanity. It required the Maori to travel through the west, Maori left younger brothers and sisters to populate new lands discovered on their journey around the world in search of the link between heaven and earth in a bid to secure all humanity from total anihalation due to their own greed, corruption, destruction and numerous breeches of universal laws.

  • @AcanLord: Kia Ora (Longivity to you),

Yes, we are blood relatives in truth

Our global bros and Sisters have documented their experiences evolving on the Lands they were assigned to during the great migration, different species were discovered and familiar species were looked after.

The arts are an expression of Love and Gratitude to the creator of all

Most commonly used expression for first peoples who discovered new lands were termed Natives but the truth is: "Land Lord"

  • @Epochofbelief: again, your comment fails to produce fact in the least.. there are institutions for insane people like you.

There is no proof here, only a whining old hag who has no blood ties to the Beautiful landmass we Love as Aotearoa, our home.. You need to take a long hard look in the mirror and just maybe you will see passed your hate and actually see that it is you who is the bludger and filthy vermon that needs eradicating the instant there is an opportunity and that time is coming...

  • epochofbelief: 1stly; what stats?? 2nd; racist swines like yourself will be found out and shipped bak to the abyss to which you came. 3rdly; you alone have a tense increasing racial problem (obviously) and jealousy is eating away at you.. you should get professional help or your insecurity and stress of not belonging could impact negatively on your health :( Poor buggar !!

  • Looking at your spelling it's ironic you should think I'm 10. I'm not sure what you're on about, but the Taiwanese theory isn't mine and is strongly backed up by dna evidence. Incedently should you and your family wish to return there, I will gladly pay your airfare. Provided there are enough prisons in Taiwan to house you.

  • LoL oh I didnt say we werent related to the east.. in fact you will find us all over the World in ancient arts. The finest are the statues in easter Island aka hawaiki, they were sculptured gifts to a guardian (deity) from the heavens but of course you may not have the capacity to absorb what I just taught you. So, since you behave unkindly to the peoples of this land, I am curious where you would end up in 2 mayb 5 yrs time.

Our most magnificent devices are the pyramids all ova the World.

  • Yes I'm aware of the attempts by born again horis to deny their savage past and portray their ancestors as 'mystic sages' and 'pacifists'. Unfortunately there is too much documented evidence to the contrary and it's going to be a difficult one to sell to those of us who can see through the smokescreen. Since you ask, in 5 years time I will be in the country of my birth, the country my great grandparents built and no doubt still paying taxes to subsidise your parasitic existance.

  • Nor are you in a position to speak for good europeans. you call yourself a european so you originate from europe, your a long way from home boy. and again, you fail to produce proof to back your theory of taiwanese not that there's anything wrong with that, are you 8,9 or even 10 years old bcos you need to find something to do with children instead of coming by the adults so run along and play wit the little ones and let the adults take care of business your only making yourslf sicker.

  • @Epochofbelief God. People like you need to get your head shoved into your arse.

  • God people like you need to piss off home to Taiwan!

  • @Epochofbelief Considering my actual race, my "home" would be Japan. Not Taiwan. Though really, my home is wherever I decide to call home.

  • Kia ora doesnt mean hello..the words for that is tena koe..if you erwe to go up to an old kuia they sneer..why? because you just said good health to you..its an insult because its like saking you look unwell and thats what the kui would be thinking i must look sickly..but today its used wrong but its accepted just like our language is mis pronounced all the time..mauri ora!!

  • The symbolism of sticking the tongue out means that, after they kill the enemy, they will eat them. The Maori believed that, by eating their enemies, they would increase their mana (power).

Sticking out their tongues and making their eyes as wide as possible was also meant to intimidate their foes.

  • Nice work man....... you really worked hard on this awesome.....

  • ty, uponya. yes, I worked hard but this video is one of my fav. When I am weak, I watch to it and all power covers me. Their music has a positive influence on my psyche - it gives me power!

  • kia ora..rili nice..n very educational..thx 4 sharing it with us....

  • ty, rockdalefijians. pls, translate "kia ora" if u wish.

  • oh sorry shantilu i thot u kiwi..

KIA ORA,...mean hellow in maori language

  • Ty very much, rockdalefijians. I am romanian :))) ...and the last surprise: this video is promoted by "Polynesia Travel" - I am so honored bcz of that.

  • that is incorrect the words for hello are tena koe not kia ora..for eg; if u went up to an old kuia and said kia ora they would sneer..why? because you just said "good health to you"in the true meaning of the word..the kuia would be insulted for she would think she must look sickly..and i am maori not kiwi..a kiwi is a bird..MAURI ORA

  • a tena hoki koe shantilu i am maori my username was my grandfathers middle name..i am also a master carver and maori artist/designer..thank you for your page as a maori i am humbled and proud to see this by a non maori..nga mihinui atu ki a koe..

  • ty, tewhere1. nice to meet u, especially bcz u r a master carver. your culture is amazing. I like to go someday in that part of world :)

  • haha..thnks for correcting me here...

  • algud cuz we are the same people, the peoples of polynesia..

  • aroha mai, engari kai te ahua he te whakahua o nga kupu ou. Tena koe or tena ra koe are the formal ways of greeting people. You can say kia ora to a kaumatua, pai noaiho taua whakahua.

  • ty u jimmy. I am impressed by their culture and their powerful music!

  • This is very informative and educational and entertaining!! Great video, worthy of much respect! Bravo!
