this is the apex cuz of martel, but the best version of this song in these rehearsals is part 5 i think. the band really rocked, mainly the left guitarrist and the drummer. they made the right band in my opinion, but one thing I don't know is why the official website doesn't show who is on the keyboards.

I'm never one to say "i'm glad so-and-so didn't make the band" but after watching the auditions I'm very happy Marc was selected. Not sure why they had female vocalists in the contest. @peachpeach I'm wondering whether they are going to use the "Local Hero" to give them their third vocalist? In Canada David Martel. In New England Sean S. Look at QE still promoting these guys. It only makes sense to continue feeding us footage of the other singers if there are plans to bring them back somehow.

More than one massive tour bus in our yard - Rez Band, and John Michael Talbot slept for a day on our living room couch when he was on tour and not feeling well. I have an inborn soft spot for downhere. We'll see.....
Just read the new Adam Lambert interview on Queen's blog. I loved Adam's performance. So happy for him. It's a perfect fit. Of course I've become a huge Marc fan too. I wish there weren't so many comments praising one at the expense of the other. They're both terribly gifted and they are both riding a similar high right now. Can you even imagine??? I'm hoping they become friends. They're so very different from each other, yet they have so much in common.

@NellaTorre I watched until the stream ended...The commenters all demanded an encore..Jeremy, who was also a commenter posted that there was not enough enthusiasm from the audience for an encore....so sad. The audience seemed pretty tame throughout the performance.
@1kalika I'm a Christian, albiet a poor one. But seems to me like these God-fearing folk are taking this too serious. Cancelled appearances, less that enthusiastic raves. It's not fair to them. If the media puts two and two together there are things right under their noses but they will never see it because they are blind when it comes to Queen. Going to ask you a question. @maplesugar98 Tyler Warren and Brian Gresh also do backup vocals. I believe Tyler is even the lead singer in his own band. The QE band seems to be very similar in makeup to Queen as far as vocals and multi-instrumentalists go. I suspect that played a large part in who got chosen, e.g. given two great drummers, they chose the one who also sings and plays other instruments.
@AdamMethos I trust Roger's judgment and this does make sense. I'm really looking forward to this. Marc is a good singer and I believe that under Roger's guidance he will become even a better singer. Quick story. Opera diva Caballe said that during rehearsals Freddie told her she was using her voice incorrectly in certain areas. She listened & learned. She said her voice improved even more, became stronger and endured. Then she said, "he conquered me" and she smiled.
My latest thought on the lineup. Why only two singers? The only way to sound in tune is to have one singer or three singers. Two people always sound out of tune - there's nothing to smudge or average out the two inexact sound waves. I'm not sure whether it makes sense to you, but if you have four violins playing two parts you don't divide them two and two, but one and three. Two violins are never in tune. Sorry for the technical geeky-ness. Anyone else wonder why? Are the others also singing?
I love "Made In Heaven"! I've also been listening to "A Winter's Tale" from the same album recently. Although it's not a Christmas song per se, it really has a Christmasy feel, especially for up here in the Great White North haha. I'm guessing that these days orthodontists would recommend pulling any extra teeth as soon as they grow in. Eep.
@AdamMethos 'A Winter's Tale' was the last song Freddie wrote & one of the last Freddie recorded. The band were at their second home in Montreux, Switzerland. Montreux is a beautiful place. According to Brian, Freddie wrote the lyrics and had the music all in his head, he used no instruments to compose the music. Called the guys and told them to meet him at the studio. He then told them what to play.
I'm hoping the song 'Made In Heaven' will be in the QE tour. It would be a great song for Marc to sing. We (a few other Queen fans) believe that Freddie wrote it knowing that things were not going right health wise and whatever happens was meant to be. watch?v=_gazjGKQ2mg

My daughter had four extra teeth but they were all located in the front of her mouth. It was the most her pediatric dentist had seen in one patient. Because they were in the front all were pulled out as soon as they appeared. She is 15 today and is wearing braces longer than normal. Her bite is taking longer to fix.

There's a lot that contributes to the sound of a person's voice - the size and structure of the vocal folds, the nasal cavities, size and shape of the nose. I've never heard mention of teeth, but sure, probably contribute.
@maplesugar98 According to Mick Rock, the location of Freddie's extra teeth changed the shape of the back of his mouth. Very rare. People think Freddie was bucktoothed. He wasn't. The extra teeth in the back pushed his teeth forward which caused a very large overbite. Freddie did have some dental work done but it was very minor. He never had his teeth fixed because he was afraid it would affect his voice.
@pinkbluegreeen Marc's jawline is very similar to Freddie's. Really amazing. Wonder if Marc has extra teeth?
Rock photographer Mick Rock is the one who took the iconic picture for the Queen II album cover.
When he was asked about Freddie's unique power vocals he said that Freddie had extra teeth located in the back of his mouth which widen his soft palate. This along with his jawline structure gave him thick power while also giving him the ability to hit the high notes.
Found this older song (circa 2003) from Marc's band Downhere that's a bit harder/funkier than the stuff they're doing now. Makes me think that it might not be as big a stretch as we thought for Marc to do some of Queen's more rocking tunes. watch?v=hoqsNWi9m2Y

Have you guys ever watched that video where that little boy puts a bag on his head and then runs straight into a desk? Well my 3 year old cousin just did that with a pillow case and BAM. Right into the wall. It was hilarious, yet not so much. She's got a huge bump on her head now and won't let me put anything on it. I'm hazardous to be around.

Bizarre. I copied and pasted the link from the QE channel comment page (instead of the link below) and it worked. I don't think that was David's Queen audition, but his Saturday Night Live audition... :-/

@maplesugar98 It wasn't very long. like 45 minutes. Weird. They sang an awesome son in celebration of Jeremy's birthday which was awesome. Did the usual stuff and then gone. No encore no nothing. Unless livestream didn't air it.

@NellaTorre I watched until the stream ended...The commenters all demanded an encore..Jeremy, who was also a commenter posted that there was not enough enthusiasm from the audience for an encore....so sad. The audience seemed pretty tame throughout the performance.

@1kalika I'm a Christian, albiet a poor one. But seems to me like these God-fearing folk are taking this too serious. Cancelled appearances, less that enthusiastic raves. It's not fair to them. Fuck it, I don't want to go into theology. Religion hass ruined many a great thing, including interesting conversations.

@1kalika Yeah, what was up with that? I'm really bad at reading people, but damn. It's like this whole audition process and the QE was a big joke to him. The only time he seemed to take it seriously is when he preformed at the Finals. But I could be wrong. And stick around to the end of the video for something special? Geez. I actually bought his album which was really good. Let me tell you, voice doesn't match the personality. Really good music, really weird guy.

@NellaTorre RE David M. QE joke or serious. I think he wanted to be on stage with QE but he's just got a flamboyant sense of humour that wields its crazy head no matter how serious he tries to be.
But with this video, even if Marc sees it as funny, the optics with the public, it looks like he's mocking a bit....What do you think? He really should make it private.

@1kalika I saw David's video and I missed the livestream. I couldn't tell if he was mocking QE, Marc or Freddie. Maybe deep down he is upset. And this should not reflect on Marc in any way. He has no control over what his brother does.
If David was mocking Freddie then he needs to know that Freddie hated dressing in drag. Hard to believe but true. He did go along with it and laughed about it because he was a good sport.

@Yo1969Yo Thanks for all of the Queen trivia! Before this contest, I just knew Queen's music from CDs, and Freddie was the only band member I knew by name. I'm enjoying watching the concert videos and learning more about them. :D

@AdamMethos As you can tell I love talking about Freddie. There are so many things related to music that the public should know but they don't. If the media puts two and two together there are things right under their noses but they will never see it because they are blind when it comes to Queen. Going to ask you a question. @maplesugar98 Tyler Warren and Brian Gresh also do backup vocals. I believe Tyler is even the lead singer in his own band. The QE band seems to be very similar in makeup to Queen as far as vocals and multi-instrumentalists go. I suspect that played a large part in who got chosen, e.g. given two great drummers, they chose the one who also sings and plays other instruments.

@AdamMethos I trust Roger's judgment and this does make sense. I'm really looking forward to this. Marc is a good singer and I believe that under Roger's guidance he will become even a better singer. Quick story. Opera diva Caballe said that during rehearsals Freddie told her she was using her voice incorrectly in certain areas. She listened & learned. She said her voice improved even more, became stronger and endured. Then she said, "he conquered me" and she smiled.

My latest thought on the lineup. Why only two singers? The only way to sound in tune is to have one singer or three singers. Two people always sound out of tune - there's nothing to smudge or average out the two inexact sound waves. I'm not sure whether it makes sense to you, but if you have four violins playing two parts you don't divide them two and two, but one and three. Two violins are never in tune. Sorry for the technical geeky-ness. Anyone else wonder why? Are the others also singing?

I love "Made In Heaven"! I've also been listening to "A Winter's Tale" from the same album recently. Although it's not a Christmas song per se, it really has a Christmasy feel, especially for up here in the Great White North haha. I'm guessing that these days orthodontists would recommend pulling any extra teeth as soon as they grow in. Eep.

@AdamMethos 'A Winter's Tale' was the last song Freddie wrote & one of the last Freddie recorded. The band were at their second home in Montreux, Switzerland. Montreux is a beautiful place. According to Brian, Freddie wrote the lyrics and had the music all in his head, he used no instruments to compose the music. Called the guys and told them to meet him at the studio. He then told them what to play.

@peachpeach I was wondering the same thing too when I wrote my post to pinkbluegreen. Someone needs to ask Marc.
My daughter had four extra teeth but they were all located in the front of her mouth. It was the most her pediatric dentist had seen in one patient. Because they were in the front all were pulled out as soon as they appeared. She is 15 today and is wearing braces longer than normal. Her bite is taking longer to fix.

There's a lot that contributes to the sound of a person's voice - the size and structure of the vocal folds, the nasal cavities, size and shape of the nose. I've never heard mention of teeth, but sure, probably contribute.

@maplesugar98 According to Mick Rock, the location of Freddie's extra teeth changed the shape of the back of his mouth. Very rare. People think Freddie was bucktoothed. He wasn't. The extra teeth in the back pushed his teeth forward which caused a very large overbite. Freddie did have some dental work done but it was very minor. He never had his teeth fixed because he was afraid it would affect his voice.

Rock photographer Mick Rock is the one who took the iconic picture for the Queen II album cover.
When he was asked about Freddie's unique power vocals he said that Freddie had extra teeth located in the back of his mouth which widen his soft palate. This along with his jawline structure gave him thick power while also giving him the ability to hit the high notes.

Found this older song (circa 2003) from Marc's band Downhere that's a bit harder/funkier than the stuff they're doing now. Makes me think that it might not be as big a stretch as we thought for Marc to do some of Queen's more rocking tunes. watch?v=hoqsNWi9m2Y

So, Ladies, here's my strategy: I want to see QE in Montreal. Hoping it is the THIRD show of the tour (let them work out the details on the Toronto crowd). Plus, I'm hoping the local hero is David Martel. I want to see the brothers on stage!

@1kalika I think interest will go up and down until the tour. Since Roger said that he would like to go deep into Queen's catalog I hope he returns to play 'White Queen'.
In the attached video Freddie's piano and Brian's guitar mid-way is amazing. Can't believe how skinny Freddie was in this video, weighing around 119 pounds.
