I think this is a legitimately great movie, and not in a "so bad it's good" way. Yes, it lacks the heart of the other ones, but it also exceeds them in everything else that makes a Rocky movie great. It's a different Rocky and holds up on its own merits.

this was one of the greatest movies of my childhood-it was like man vs. machine; like Rocky was about to fight the Terminator. you saw Rocky doing oldschool trainning while Ivan was doing it with new technology and the music reminded of the Transformers -epic

What an enjoyable Rocky film. Such an action packed, adrenaline rushing, fast blood flowing, edge of your seat flick. Sadly, I have 2 cousins that thought that Rocky 2-4 sucked and Rocky 5 was better than them. I have to disagree with them and say that they are better and Rocky 5 is the worst.

3:36 I saw that movie a billion times & technically Rocky never went down 3 times in one round.3:50 Apollo didn't train that hard for the fight whereas Rocky trained extra,extra hard for his fight against Drago naturally,in the raw without any equipment & you're right this is a manly macho movie even Christopher Reeves(God Bless the dead )Had to train in order to give natural muscle to the Superman Character he played & played very well I might add,they just don't make movies like this anymore.

Surprising that they killed Apollo outright instead of just havin Drago beat him and maybe hurt him really bad, put him in a coma or sumthin. But that was a perfect way to establish Drago as the ultimate villain I guess.

This one ain't need all the emotional elements of the other Rocky movies. It's just a classic revenge movie.

@JReed1985 Rocky at this point had been fighting for a good 9 years. Working out all that time, built his indurance, I think Apollo was 45 at the time of the fight . Since he wasn't working out consistantly anymore, His body was starting to break down. He was simply too old and not strong enouph. Rocky knew if he couldn't beat Drago, He at least had to go the distance. But he pulled off the win.
