yea iv met him at this world judoo tournament meeting in Mathews NC, he actually trained with the NSCC (naval sea cadet corp) feild ops or hand to hand combat class. And i was in that group. A word of the wise DO NOT get in a kicking contest with him nuff said

Any sambo school will teach you the methods. I'm not sure how common it is to put on camo and pull out the knives. We do weapons training at our school here in Tennessee from time to time.

Right now the top Sambinists in the USA are in NY i think, David Rudman who once coached Fedor the last emperor is there Combat Sambo Center NY dont mistake that for Combast Sambo NY there is another place that is just NY combat sambo with out the Center. The instructor sounds realy professional as well there.. Also this one guy at Empire Academy he said that he trained under Igor.

I have all his DVD's and I think they are all great! As long as you spend time drilling the material like any other DVD they won't disappoint.

Yakimov has solid game, but some techniques on this video are Hollywood and not useful. His Sambo Grappling stuff is much better

what exactly dont you like about this demo? Grappling has been said not to work in a real life situation......yeah most fights go to the ground but if your fighting 2 guys or 3 then grappling will get your head kicked in its best to know how to strike, kick, throw, and grapple and cause someone to submit

I am an RBSD fan. So most of the Military type of training is stuff I consider to be outdated and not that useful, but of use. Yakimov is an extreme athlete and could probably make some of these techniques work, but especially the knife stuff would be suicide against a real attacker.

His grappling stuff is only good for grappling that is what I meant, of course not for Self Defense.

I really dont get any of this self defense nonsense anymore, everyone i hear talking about self defense in general says oh this system wouldnt work oh TKD sucks, oh JKD sucks, oh Savate sucks against Muay thai, and all this stuff........so what exactly DOES work i mean give me a break i know that grappling can help you win ONE on ONE but what art can help you win against an armed opponent or at least against multiple opponents. Krav maga? Im guessing someone will say no to that as well

i agree with you, most of these demonstrations are quite unrealistic. For example, why would someone kick you like that when you're sitting down? (table scene).

However I do think Igor's techniques and skills are legitimate, its just poor choreography.

I do not own this dvd. But i own the 3 sets series (Ultimate Leglocks, Ultimate Armbars and 100 sambo lessons) I do strongly suggest you to buy these dvd's; I've learned a lot from them.
