Born in Panama and would love to go back. Now if we can get them to do a video of coffee from Panama since it is considered to have the best micro climate for growing coffee in the world based on independent cuppings.
As a child, I remember walking down jungle trails to the most beautiful virgin beaches. Probably why I settled in Florida for so long.
This add has some great footage but the wording is very, VERY, misleading!!! Reducing all the colonial history of Panama to only Pirates attact is a superb mistake!!! What about the first potatos who came overland to Panama in their way to Europe??? Or La Peregrina, largest pearl until very recently??? We are inviting people to come to Panama because of the pirates and non of the museum cover this subject!!! I bet Jack Sparrow works in this company!!!
The truth about Panama, and how my ancestors in Portobello Colon and Chiriqui,Palenque, Puerto Armuelles, gave Panama back her freedom from England. I hope you purchased a copy of my book when it comes out!!!
@biltong05 Please read carefully in English, I never said Panama my native country was ever a Colony of England dont ever jump to conclusions without reading and understanding. If you was from Puerto Armuelles descent you would had known the History Ii guess you are not a person that have studied the truth about Henry Drake and how he died in Panama. Or better you don't know Captain Morgan had the city of Porto Bello under seage for three weeks and how the black slaves took it back!!!
@ResurrectingYourSpir Just a friendly correction: his name was Francis Drake, and he died off the coast of Portobello, on the Atlantic side of Panama. His coffin was thrown overboard in the bay, and that's why the guide says, "Somewhere in this Caribbean bay is captain Drake waiting to be found." Saludos!
@53398 Oh yes, are you from Panama, Portobelo, or Volcan, Puerto Armuelles? my ancestry is from the area I am putting together, some good and fun stories. My great grandfather died at 104yrs old, I have learned a lot from my African ancestry of Panamanian slaves. I bet you never new that West African slaves occupied Chiriqui this is amazing I'll keep you in touch. thank you.
@ResurrectingYourSpir Plz tell me more. I'm kinda of a mud, too. My father's family came from Barbados; he's mulatto, born in Panama City. My mom's family is from France and she was born in Veraguas. I was born in Chiriqui. What could you tell me about slaves in Chiriqui? I'm really interested to know. Panama, crisol de razas
@gtenshi Hi I will happy to tell you a little about Panama the slaves from West Africa built Panama. Chiriqui is the third larges state of Panama, David is the capital a lot of Saphardic Jews where living there before Spain started slavery, which many were killed, by Inquisitions. it was build by the West African slaves. They worked in coffee farms, sugar cain, tabacco fields, rice, corn and vegetable many of them were cattle and fisherman. Chiriqui slaves inherit the land after slavery.
In 1918, US troops invaded Chriqui, and occupied and for two years and many of the black latino Panamanians ran for their lives to puerto Armuelles and to Volcan to live, because the US Marines killed many and nothing was done about the situation. a lot of racism and prejudice towards dark skinned Panamanians. This is what Americans did in order to white wash and make Chiriqui white. The same the French did in Veraguas but not as bad has Americans
@gtenshi First of all West African slaves in panamafor over 300 hundred years all thru Panama 9 states, Who told you that Panama did not have slaves. Well there is a different group that arrived to Panama in 1904 to build the Panama Canal, they are West Indians Caribbean British speaking Panamanians, the USA gave them preference over the native and black Panamanians because we didn't know how to speak English. The West Indians said they where superior than us because of the US. gave them prefer
@gtenshi I will like to send you several video links from other states in Panama, the West Indians lived mainly in the city and in the island of Colon. follow the links. My Family doesn't speak English, neither my grand parents, or great grand parents, they are originaly from slavery in Panama with Spanish and Portuguese last names. If you take a trip to Panama visit DeCameron is in Clocle, Anton, I have a lot of Family there also, are mainly black with curly hair they dont speak any english
the video clips of Panama, Where the world meets are amazing!!!! I just wish they would have had closed captions for my family and friends who are hearing impaired.
Excelente trabajo y les felitico a todos quienes trabajaron en la producción de estos videos. Rafa, definitivamente estás en algo y te felicito. @ResurrectingYourSpir I thought the phrase "gave Panama back her freedom from England" meant that...but oh well.
I´m sure you meant Francis Drake...again... I really, really hope your book is not a history one.
