I do a different version of wing chun but I dropped into the Sydney school just last week and the fellow there showed me some really unique principles and techniques. I was really impressed. Much respect.

Be in peace Master Jim Fung. You lived a respectable, honourable life and passed on the teaches to the next generation. World lost a great master but also, you left your teachings for others to move on.
I saw Grand Master Jim Fung at a demo from about 50 feet away. I did not know who he was, though he was a cleaner or something, he was so humble For 20 minutes I was drawn back to him as he chatted no idea why, I was mesmerised he exuded an aura of tranquil power that I cannot explain I know it sounds silly but I swear that I could feel a positive aura wrapping my soul. It was only later that I found out who he was. I never met him but I believe that he was a true Grand Master RIP.
While I trained in one of the "opposition" schools of Grandmaster Cheung (who everybody seems to hate) I will say this. This video is one of the best Wing Chun videos I have seen. I displays PROPERLY what all Wing Chun is about - deflection, simultaneous counter strikes and sheer speed of what we ALL do. The only real difference is in the footwork. RIP Grandmaster Jim Fung, from those of us who can respect a difference in style for what iit is - a difference.
I was able to visit his Gold Coast school and meet his awesome instructors early '07. It must have been a priviledge to train under a great Sifu. The Filipino martial arts is somehow connected and inspired by Wing Chun. Long live Wing Chun Au. RIP Grandmaster Fung.

I knew Jim Fung for 20 years. The first thing he always asked new students was to try and hit him. Impossible - he was amazingly fast.
