@Sonnyxleet why? ME3 is still an RPG, and Bioware brought back many aspects not present in ME2, plus they added a mini game where you help coordinate the resistance forces arround the galaxy, the multiplayer is just a bonus... like spec-ops..

@xXLDeusXx From my limited experience with "Borderlands", it's not an RPG. And "Mass Effect 3" doesn't look like one, either. If creating the person and his/her role was all that role-playing was about, custom classes in "Modern Warfare 3" would make it an RPG ...

Computer RPGs originate from pen & paper RPGs back in the day, where it was about stats and rolling dice, but also about getting into the mind of your character and escaping to another reality. So the way I see it, leveling up is an important part of computer role-playing, but it's nothing without a fascinating story, believable characters and a world to suck you in. To me, "Bioshock" is more of an RPG than "Diablo 2", for example ...

@Riterdando well,to me, Mass effect and Dragon Age (all games) beats all others,, why? cause we get an in game journal, hundres of pages of game lore to fill me in, amazing characthers, deep emotions, realistic conversations.. if you stop and read all those journal entrie/codex pages you will be amazed.. because THAT, is just another reality..

(BTW i actually think mass effect beats star wars[in terms of immersion] cause all the crazy tech in game was exlained (codex))

@xXLDeusXx "Dragon Age: Origins" - legendary, 2nd part comes nowhere near it. In DA 2 most of these codex entries you are talking about are just copies of texts from the first installment. Disappointment ...

Both "Mass Effect" games - great. Second one is too simplified, but it makes up with great drama. That's probably what's going to happen with ME 3, too. But these tech "explanations" - if you take a closer look, many of them are just pseudoscientific nonsense.

Bioware said that due to the "original fans" that played the frist game before it was "famous" they promised making the game less siplified,(still a lot of less features than on the first one, but also, way more then on the second) they are trying to find a good balance for action and "RPGing" to keep the old fans and get new ones..(exemple: there were 3 times as much skills in ME1, but the coold down was individual and lasted a lot)

@curseesruc Then you'd do it through a SP focused game, not online in a completely different mode. Look at what happened to Assassin's Creed II. They started spreading their resources thin with brotherhood and the SP suffered for it. Revelations sucked relative to the rest of the series, and it's reviews reflected that.

Appealing to a wider audience never works. It only ends up alienating everyone.

@swaryne - I trust bioware to not fuck it up, with the addition of the ps3 bioware has a lot more money for the sp, if the story is bad then ill agree but if its not then mp is a good addition. and who wants to start the game 7 or so times to try out each individual class? across ME1 n ME2 i have only played with 4 classes, this could be help full
