  • I'm in love

  • yes

  • heavy flywheel?

  • In this video, it's a 289 c.i. smallblock with brodix spec heads, in the Osceols Indiana vids, it's a 288 dart buick. One's 587 hp, the other 700.

  • what kinda motor? and specs and stuff

  • stage wtf

  • Yes, manually shifted using the clutch in every gear. No delay boxes or bracket stuff at all.

  • is that a manually shift no delay box car?

  • No, not even close to pro stock or pro mod. It's barely a good superstocker. But we still enjoy it.

  • you should put in the title cobalt pro stock or pro modified, i thought it was a 2.0L turning 11000rpm lol

  • Went once to KCIR in Oct. Fridat night went 9.34 at 148, first round of qualifing Sat. morning, broke a lifter on the line. End of the day for us And fri. night, the track was horrible, 1.33 60 when we normally run 1.27 or 1.28. We feel we could have ran 9.24 Sat.at 149 but will have to wait till next year. Will get some new vids later, and we now have three motors, so we have a back-up. All in SS\DM

  • How has the season been going for you fellas ? Any new videos going to be added soon ?

  • 289 small block. Brodix spec, unaltered heads, made 585 to 592 on dyno. Hope this helps.

  • what engine is in there... i know its not a ecotec.. lmaoo

    also, is it automatic?

  • My next engine for my car will be a 1000hp NA LSX that revs to 10,000rpms. It will be sick and expensive....

  • Are those power windows I see? That's freakin sweet that you kept them. lol

  • @hvychvy383 Thanks, the manual stuff didn't save any weight and power windows are much easier in a harness lol.

  • seeing this reminds me of a fat kid running fast

  • I came!

  • go fast, looks ugly

  • thats gotta be a stage 3 with a .5 inch pulley

  • 587 hp on this engine, it's only a brodix spec head 289.

  • 800 or 900 horse?

  • Miss the Bethany days, bleh. Good video! Awesome Car steve...

  • well...I guess he took the 2.0 liter out...

  • IF THAT TIRE BLEW IT WOULD TAKE THAT FUCKERS LEG OFF!!! LOL now that would be a video

  • That sounds beautiful!

    Awesome stuff mate!

  • 6.3 quarter sounds nice, can you hook that up in my Redline and make it so its a sleeper on the street. LOLZ

  • @bratboy90 It's 6.3 in the eighth, mid 9s in the quarter, but thanks...and no lol. But if you get it done I'd like to see it.

  • @bratboy90 thats eight mile.

  • @bratboy90 HA. You're funny. Its a 1/4 you stupid fuck.

  • @jkonn7 is a late bloomer. The video owner already updated us on that part. Read all the comments before trying to be a cunt and seem cool by acting smarter than others on youtube. You make yourself seem like an underage blowjob how never shuts the fuck up when he should. No one wants your 2 fuckin cent's NO ONE!!! So shut the fuck up and only add to comments rather than ruin a community with your fucktard responses.

  • @bratboy90 Cool story, bro. I was only referring to your comment where you thought there was any chance in hell a slowbalt would hit a 6.3 quarter mile.

  • @jkonn7 No kidding. That Mitsubishi of your's has to be good for atleast mid 15s in the quarter right?

  • @camaromitch PAH. The vid on my page is old. Its a 97 GSX now. Just ran a 11.89 on a stock block. Nice try though ;) Ill update it.

  • @jkonn7 Your a moron huh? slowbalt, you own a car faster than this? Any car can be modded to be fast. ANY. Shit your retarded Eclipse prob runs 16's+ when it does run. Shits all duct-taped together. Fuckin Ricer. I'd check for a simple Vacuum leak with your misfiring shit.

  • @bratboy90 Im going to stop arguing now because you blew a helicopter up with a tank lmao..

  • From listening and watching the car, this is what I was guessing. Sure would enjoy seeing this masterpiece, without the hood on? Maybe, you can also have a camera in car view, this will be welcomed. If I come to your area, I will definitely come by. Appreciate your time and info.

  • 0:47 - 0:57 EPIC FAIL! :D

  • Without giving too much away, what is the cu. in. of this? I would guess that the gear ratio is in the 5 plus range. We used 5:38 in a 55 C/G injected car, that was turning pretty tight at the 1/4. Do you ever run the car outside your general area? I am in the NW, but would enjoy watching your car very much. Good to hear from you.

  • @1hemiluver We have a few different engines we run ranging from 290s up to about 320. And you would guess correctly about the gear ratio. We normally just run around Iowa and Missouri, but might do a something farther out once in a while. Just depends on what the schedule is like. Hollar if you are ever in the area, and glad you like the car.

  • How can anyone watch this and not get the chills, from the beautiful sound that only American Muscle can produce ? Is this a small block basis from which you turn this so tight? Back in the mid 60's, we would turn up the 292 and 301 Chevy's near this range to get our cars moving. Then it was weight per cubic inch. Any info will be appreciated. I would enjoy seeing this run, very much. This is a fantastic car, that hooks hard, goes straight and has a stick. A winner in all respects.

  • @1hemiluver Thanks for the good review. It is just like you thought, a short stroke small block that builds it's power way up high. It is setup for headsup #/ci racing. Ya know, real racing :)

  • nice reving but is the 11000 rpm nessesary? or is it for the pleasure? :D

  • @richrich27 .......Yes

  • how sweet it is,sounds like at least 11000 revs. love it, my eyes crossed in pleasure play it again sam

  • its over 9000!

  • is that a bicycle helmet on the hood?:))

  • fuck yes im doing that to my ss

  • @sorensenmike12 Using the shell to build a completely different car mechanically? :)

  • @ROWB0AT I didn't know the 4cyl motor or front wheel drive made a Cobalt a Cobalt, because what keeps it from being a cavalier then...oh yeah, the body. We left that mostly stock. So go ahead Sorensen, use your shell to build a Cobalt with a bad ass motor and RWD.

  • Power windows. That's the greatest feature ever

  • @alexhc09 Yeah, switching to mechanical wasn't going to save enough weight to even mess with. Not to mention how nice it is hitting a switch instead of a crank when you are in a 5 point harness.

  • @camaromitch no kidding. awesome car

  • @alexhc09 Thanks!

  • I'll probably go with a lenco, at least that can take the abuse

  • A richmond 5 speed for street if you can find a good used one.

  • I have a question for anybody out there, I want to put a clutch in my car(3800 lbs trans am that I still drive on the street with a 468 big block chevy) what would be the best tranny to go with?

  • @Dsmpsn63 M22 Rockcrushers can take alot of shit, even stock. I would do that if it were my car.

  • V8 is pure sex.

  • Wtf RWD?? whats in there???

  • @MarcsMobileAudio Just a little motor. This is probably what the concept was for the cobalt before the greenies got their hands on it and put the back wheels on front, turned the motor sideways and cut it in half.

  • @camaromitch 296? i think you could have kept the LNF or LSj in there, in any case i think the coby tunred out great...

  • @MarcsMobileAudio Close. Besides, you can run a car with a sbc in a lot more classes than you could a fuel injected LNF or LSJ.

  • @MarcsMobileAudio goon Make me work hard i see.....

But i'm going to say an 305 or maybe an LS4? I think an ls4 would be cool as hell and with it being an ls series engine it would make parts finding pretty damn easy and alot lightere than 305 too, although the same could be said for the 305...

if you don't weann post pm it send me somwhere i can see this beast with the hood up lol

  • @MarcsMobileAudio Oh i'm just giving you a hard time to cover my ignorance. There have been many motors for this car over the years ranging anywhere from 283 and up to around 320 ci. I would love to see an LS motor between the fenders as well, but it won't be happening. There aren't many classes to put a LS motored car in. But this car's chassis is spec'd to a 5sec pass...so stay tuned.

I'll do some diggin and see if I can find any pics of the car with the hood off.

  • @MarcsMobileAudio This has a 286 ci small block not 296 you were close tho

  • @p0pe1991 Ummmmm HTf would you know???

  • @MarcsMobileAudio Saw the description on another video with this same car vs a nova hahaha

  • @p0pe1991 More than likely that is correct then. Both videos were from the same weekend, but only 5101cobalt or Randy would know for sure. They have a few different motors that they run in this car.

  • that is nuts. I have to change my pants now

  • I touch myself innapropriatly when I hear this car run..and I like it...lots

  • no rides for bigmrclean

  • @camaromitch lmao so true

  • Holy hood scoop batman

  • @Pyridoxinexx You know what they say about guys with big hood scoops...

  • kinetiic energy you might wont to look in to that . the man has a sweet race car , give him credit not crapp. build you one. show the world your dreams. bracket racer.

  • now thats just sad they couldnt ahve gone to a scrap yard and pulled out an old camaro or something?

  • @zeekdavis11 I have some pictures of the camaro they had before this. It was a beautiful car before the wreck...just like every...other....camaro....drag car. Would you believe that the cobalt has a longer wheelbase than a 3rd gen camaro?

  • @camaromitch yeah or even a chevelle or a nova but i guess traction is the game. it just looks a little funny. but hell whatever works

  • hell yeah super stocker

  • sounds ok

  • Man, that track is a shit hole.

  • @cmccarthy where's yours?

  • @camaromitch Huntsville Dragway, Huntsville Alabama. Its not exactly The Strip at Las Vegas in its own right, but its a ton better than that little pigtrail.

  • @cmccarthy Ohhh. You bracket race. You know that's not really racing right?

  • @camaromitch Actually, I personally race heads up 10" tire stuff, but yes I agree that bracket racing isn't real racing.

  • @cmccarthy The 10" tire stuff is pretty cool. We've still had two record holders at our little...ahem...pigtrail.

  • @cmccarthy That's interesting. I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine. He's from Huntsville. When was the last time they ran a 10" class there?

  • @bowtieighth They had one over the 4th of July Weekend, the Patriot Nationals. There was an ORSCA race scheduled for this coming weekend but they postponed it because its too hot. With this new bullshit noise ordinance they don't have them as often as they used to, which sucks. They still have 3 or 4 a year though with the occasional pro mod show thrown in.

  • @camaromitch You know super stock racing isn't really racing unless you run someone in your class, right?

  • @DrewCFYA Well, I'll agree it's a lot more fun to watch two cars in the same class, but as long the indexes are setup fairly atleast you get to watch more races, and people can build what they want to drive and what they can afford. We'll never claim to be "faster" than the dragster we raced in the other video I posted, but until you setup a strip where only one class of car is permitted, this is the most legitimate style of drag racing out there.

  • @camaromitch That's why i like stock & super stock racing, comp is ridiculous but fun to watch. I mean, what's the point of even trying to run comp? It's the guy w/ the most money.

  • @DrewCFYA Comp is not the guy with the most money, it is the guy with the most brains 9 times out of 10.. Come down to D4 and watch the baddest Comp cars on the planet.

  • @mcmal1bu Or the guy who can afford the brains of people like the Pattersons and Jeff Taylor.

  • @mcmal1bu Or Rick Watters lol, forgot him

  • @camaromitch Bracket racing was invented because heads up cost so damn much....

  • that aint no 4 cylinder... lol

  • Looks like an all Stock Cobalt LS with a exhaust.

  • @Legend28x Good eye!

  • @Legend28x where can i buy a exhaust fo my honda that sounds like that.

  • @bigmrclean Ha ha. Well you've heard of cat back exhaust kits, this is a radiator back exhaust kit lol

  • @camaromitch lol you said that right

  • @bigmrclean First you need a rumpety rump sound race type V8......an Indy car motor will do just fine...lol

  • @bigmrclean @ the local supermarket near you (H)

  • @bigmrclean No honda will EVER sound like that.

  • @frosty9595 no honda withouta a v8 will sound like that, but since honda/acura don't have v8's yes as of right now, no honda sounds like that

  • LMFAO You Damn right he better post it

  • i wonder if my chevy tahoe could do this

  • @supermario513 Try it. If you get the front end off the ground you better post the vid

  • Thats what cobalts were made for.

  • ohh nice niceee yeah not much of a exhaust lol. just some headers lol

  • LMFAO THATS NUTS what was the FWD to RWD Conversion run ya?

  • @RatzSSSC Thanks. It wasn't cheap but it was worth having a car that we knew was built right.. You know whats real funny, we had a 3rd generation camaro before this and the cobalts wheelbase is a few inches longer than it was. I can't remember exactly how much but we were shocked.

  • @camaromitch Thats awesome man I showed Few friends the Video they Couldn't Believe it! and I'll loo into that wheel base thing. lol any ways Solid Ride, keep'em comin'

  • @RatzSSSC Thanks

  • @camaromitch I want to put a ls1 into my cobalt and i was having doubts that it could fit.... i guess it can.. lol

  • aww I thought it was really gonna be a Cobalt....

  • @FiredUpZ28 What is the limit to modding a Cobalt before it isn't one anymore?

  • and this is wit prolly jus a intake exhost cams and a tune.

  • @inteligentvtec As you can tell by the sound we kinda cheaped out on the exhaust :)

  • @camaromitch straight pipes?

  • @st7ng Not really. No pipes. Any sort of "exhaust" ends at the header flange.

  • @inteligentvtec This is a purpose built race car with a small block Chevy. Probably UNDER 280 cubic inches.

  • @Dummerd ya i know, i was just kidding. i was being dumb to see what people would say

  • @Dummerd Yes, yes, and damn close. I think there was a 291 in during this video, but I could be wrong.

  • cute car, its so little

  • @qualy55 It's all about the fuel economy! Seriously, it's like 5" longer wheelbase than the '92 Camaro he got out of!

  • haha omg hot damn. what did that cost

  • @enfaden ha ha I wasn't the only one to ask.

  • Ugly looking thing ....

  • Bring your car to the track. You wouldn't have to look at the Cobalt for long

  • @camaromitch Long enough. How much money went into it?

  • @tornadostorm18 And you deserve a response because..............? Let's just say...enough (so far).

  • @bowtieighth cause it would be interesting derrrrrr

  • @tornadostorm18 its nun of your business. You think its ugly so why would even care what we spent on it?

  • @5101cobalt cause i have a cobalt ss the only thing I think is ugly is that shit on the hood. The paint looks good though.

  • This scoop is the best one for this car and as stated earlier, it wasn't made for show. Good luck getting into the 5s in the eighth without it.

  • Do you think it could take corners even with all that extra weight in the front? I know dumb question as it is set up for drag, but still just want to know.

  • @tornadostorm18 Where do you see the extra weight? BTW, it corners great.

  • I figured that scoop was housing a larger supercharger or even a different engine. It is obvious you reduced weight through out the car, but I figured the front would be heavy compared to the rest of the car.

  • @tornadostorm18 They have a couple engines (SBC's) to choose from in the 290 cid range. Any of them would be naturally aspirated with a single 4 barrel on racing gas.

  • and at ~10lbs per cid you can figure how much it weighs. How much did you think it would weigh? You saw the front end lift right?

  • That fast I'm sure it would lift a big rig.

  • @tornadostorm18

    NO.

No corners for this car. Purpose built drag car. Hence the huge tires out back and razor fronts.

  • @Dummerd yeah I figured, but it still would be cool to see some one attempt it.

  • It would be a great workout since it doesn't have powersteering lol

  • @camaromitch Yeah plus with that workout it would suck not having a/c.

  • Yeah, No a/c and a fire suit is why we keep trying for a faster track time lol....quicker back to the pits

  • @camaromitch what is the normal outside temp?

  • Outside of the car??? This is northwest missouri, buddy. Anywhere for -15 to 110.

  • @camaromitch Your still run when it is 110 degrees? That is just insane. Who buys all the gaterade?

  • amj2031, thank you very much!!

  • i dont give a damn what anything has to do with the flywheel or flexplate all i know is thats fucking kick ass and i want 2 one for me and one for mywife lol! thats got to be some inovative shit illl tell ya i love it !!!

  • blue2208 you dont have a clue......This is a stick shift car with a "heavy flywheel" that is why it takes so long for the rpm's to come down after the burn out and once it crosses the stripe. It is also why it takes so long to get up to rpm on the starting line before it launches.

  • 11000 rpms. it doesnt take a long time to wind down... its cause of the high rpms.. duh

  • Sorry Blue2208 but everybody else is right it is a heavy flywheel that I had special built for this motor because of it being a low hp for us it was only 585 hp on the dyno out of a 289. But thanks for looking

  • Must be one HEAVY flywheel in there! Listen to how long it take to unwind whenever he lets off the throttle.

  • that means its light if it takes the motor longer to unwind.

  • Blue2208, I have viewed your videos and I see now you are an expert.

  • wow I love your sarcasm.. first off... a flywheel doesnt create momentum for a motor...

second a car with that much power probably has a triple disc clutch if it is in fact a stick.. which it isnt it sounds like a turbo400 trans.

  • Well, you did get the sarcasam part right. 1. The engine CREATES momentum, the flywheel SUSTAINS momentum. Potential and Kinetic energy was covered in 7th grade science . As for the clutch it can have 1 or 20 disc's they have nothing to do with the flywheel. And now for the biggie I sounds like a 400 Turbo if someone has developed a 4 speed clutch 400Turbo. Or maybe you mis-counted the # of shifts. Maybe thats why the transmission in your car seems to be missing third gear. Sarcasam? Luv it

  • THERES NO FLYWHEEL!its called a fucking flexplate dumbshit.its not a manual transmission.nd why would you put a heavy flywheel on a race car?that would take away a good amount of hp. That would be more weight for the engine to manage. And flywheels being heavy and keeping the engine windup?engines dont work like that idiot.your thinking about the engine like a ball spinning or something.your forgetting the huge amount of compression takin place within the cylinder walls.that slows down the engine

  • @Blue2208 Since you'll never figure it out on your own, this isn't an automatic car. Real men shift gears.

  • its not a true clutch drivin manual if thats the case

  • @Blue2208 In that video it is a true clutch driven manual tranny. You do know that a glide is an automatic?

  • its got to be a power glide... thats the only thing it could be then

  • @Blue2208 There is no flexplate it is a "heavy" flywheel. Why don't you quit calling people idiot when they obviously know more about rece motors than you do?

  • @Blue2208 I believe you've had one too many brain freezes.

  • @Blue2208 I thought you had to get into the turbo 500's to get a 4 speed? LOL!

  • yeah,the 400's are 3spd right?

  • It's a 5 speed clutch assisted manual. Watch it again and listen closely.
