Hello. i got a quick question. I got an iMac G5 20" w/isight. how did you upgrade the processor to core 2 duo? because i thought the processors are soldered onto the mother board?

@TEGGY56 no you can't. First of all, G5 is made by IBM not Intel. So even if you can replace G5, Core 2 Duo won't physically fit it. Also since it is all in one, motherboard is specifically designed for this model. Motherboard for other model won't even fit in. So you get what you get.

@TEGGY56 what exactly do you mean? I never had any iMac. All i have is Macbook and Macbook Pro. You can sell your old G5 20'' and get a used Core 2 Duo one. The reason i don't go with iMac is because of the limited upgradability. Anyway, you should trade your G5 iMac and get iMac with Core 2 Duo, then you can enjoy Mac OS X lion.

@FlipMollc I just bought this one with 2ghz intel core 2 duo, 2GB Ram and 160GB HDD secondhand for $350 Australian Dollars from ebay. It was 399 but i best offered 350 and he accepted. This was the same price if not cheaper than the same spec pcs out there plus the design, build quality, and OS shits all over the tin box pcs.

Yeah, brand new imacs are expensive, but so are Dells and HPs of the same specs. And they look fat and ugly.

Really good price, but where could you find it for that? It is at least 500 bucks used.(That's the lowest price I have seen) The ones for 200 probably have a powerpc processor.

i actually bought it- it was my friends, and i helped him build a rig. It is the Core 2 Duo with the Super Combo Drive and the Radeon graphics. It was amazing deal everybody told me to get it before he changed his mind and im glad i did.
