  • I love going to New Orleans and hearing the street musicians, most are better than any that you'd pay big money for tickets to go see. Best thing to do (and all tourists need to remember this) try to have at least about $20 in ones on you so you can tip them. It's rude to stand there and enjoy the music without paying because without tips they can't survive. Same goes for the statue people, tip them if you pose with them for pictures. Thanks and come enjoy New Orleans and the surrounding areas!

  • this dude is awesome. but its called circle breathing. he pushes a lil air out with his cheeks while he breathes in. thats the only way

  • @hibbart55 This "dude" is a personal family friend of mine i grew up with, Herman Hack from uptown Carrolton. Herman, if you're reading this, I'm Gerald, remember me ? lol. Great job on that trumpet (as usual). Harriet says hello too.

  • @nola305 And if you see Mr. Hack please tell him that his music made a wonderful travel memory for me - oh how I miss New Orleans....

  • @earart I'm currently living in Houston, Tx. and i haven't seen Herman since before Katrina, but you can contact him through his page on facebook; Herman Hack Bartholomew........I miss N.O. also :(

I want to be in THAT number for sure :)

  • Awesome horn player

  • I was working in NO working on building houses for Habitat of Humanity, and I don't think that there is any city quite like New Orleans.

  • that guitarist is phenomenal. changing between very difficult jazz chords with ease....and it looks like hes kinda improving a little bit too....amazing.

  • theres no place on earth like NO or LA :)

  • This is like the Karate Kid only with trumpet.

  • GREAT music! I would have to tip that guy good if i was there. One min holding a note is hard to do. He must not smoke. Lol....

  • that reminded me of the gabriel knight game :)

  • Wow, holding that note for one minute, that takes talent. I am not going to lie, that was Very Impressive. 5/5 stars and favorited.

  • OMG 1 minute long !!!! WOOO

  • is that true???? more than a minute holding that note??? Amazing

  • the trumpet player holds that note by a method called "circular breathing", where you actually blow out thru your mouth while breathing in thru your nose at the same time---impossibly hard to learn!! the only other player i know who could do that was the late, great jazz trumpet genius Maynard Ferguson!

i miss NO...the street musicians all just blew me away!! awesome town

  • Yes, circular breathing often used by clarinet players

  • where you from?

  • Incredible...

  • ¿one minut? ¿is posible?

  • Makes me want to travel to N.O. just to try and find this guy to listen,......

  • I would whoop out my Keyboard and start playing with them!!

  • Wow...that is a very, very, very long note. Amazing

  • Anyone know who this guy is? Man can he play that or what - he makes that trumpet talk.

  • My 2nd cousin tony lujan and i both play the trumpet. I'm sure yall have heard of tony. Anyway, that was an outstanding note he played because he hardly wavered from that same pitch he started at. Loved it.

  • where did he put the air pomp to play that looooong note??? Great video! Thanks Earart!

  • @Filarpamp where did he get the air to play that note and where did he get the air to play the slurred lick afterwards?

  • @Filarpamp there's a method of continuous breathing that allows him to do that. you breath in through the nose while breathing out through the mouth using air stored in cheeks. its called circular breathing.

  • @mcgeeak I know what is circular breathing... I was joking about that! But thanks for the clarification!

  • Amaizing!!!

  • ah thats so cool

  • HOW COULD THEY JUST WALK BY? When I was in N.O. for a month, all I did was stop and watch ALL the great musicians!!! I live in Manhattan, and WE don't have talent like that on every corner! What a gift!

  • he made that trumpet sing. great solo!

  • The circle breathing is great indeed. A little long for my taste, but talent nontheless.
