@BarryDennen12 Meh, the soft rock didn't bug me that much. Besides, it was nowhere near as painful as hearing Janeway's soapboxes like "our Starfleet rules are the best allies we have".
True enough. The thing about Voyager is that they might have a compelling story going for at least one of the characters every now and then. Not every episode, of course, but once in a while.
They didn't even try on Enterprise. It took me four years just to realise that Trip and Tucker were actually the same person, and that the British guy was called Reed. Never mind the black guy with literally no backstory. I felt sorry for that actor because he did the 'eager young guy' thing very well.
@BarryDennen12 I think with all three of the 24th Century shows, they made an earnest effort to have an ensemble, but invariably some characters will get less attention (i.e. Jake Sisko, Harry Kim). With Enterprise, I think they decided to dispense with any pretense of an ensemble and go back to having "the big three", then a few supporting characters like on TOS. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just acknowledging that some characters will always be more prominent.
True enough, but I don't really think they knew how to make a big three that worked. They'd been doing the ensemble thing for so long, they just got stuck in some beige netherworld.
It'd be wrong to say the show had no redeeming qualities, but honestly it was too much too late for me. And if it had ended one episode before that 'valentine' episode, I might've been genuinely sad that it ended.
@BarryDennen12 how much more back-story did he need? They did an entire episode with his family on "horizon' in S2 and in S1 did some intro to the story with "fortunate son". There are plenty of other small things inserted in various episodes as well.
So far as tucker, there was a ton of stuff done on him (usually with archer at his side, or the memorable ride with reed in the supposedly doomed shuttlepod). Even reed had his moments, ala "minefield" and all of the reed vs the macos, etc etc
I've always felt sorry for the nigger in this series, they just didn't give his character anything interesting to say.

@BarryDennen12 I take it you've never seen Voyager.

Oh, I have.
At least that didn't have M-O-R soft rock playing at the start of each show.

Oh btw, I was implying (on my old account) that travis was gay, not rasmusjp. Sorry for any misunderstanding there. :)
