I was there! I remember riding in that antique car, and riding the monorail through Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome! Nice clear footage, too! Thanks for the memories!
It's definitely Expo 67. The second scene in your video shows a geometric structure (it's all triangles) with some reddish panels. It was part of a kind of indoor roller-coaster. The main structure was like a pyramid and this reddish part was the exit tower. I found some videos on youtube that show it. Yes, definitely Expo 67! Look at this video, at about 1 min 45 seconds into it.
@RogerInHawaii Thanks so much for your help, I sent you and email, and all your comments we're there waiting I just needed to approve them, I'll have to change the name on the video now ;)
Any chance your family took a trip up to Canada to see Expo 67? Some of the shots show very wide walking areas which look more like a World's Fair than an amusement park. The "Expo" actually lasted for many, many years afer the actual World's Fair, so it might still have been there in the 70s. Also, looking along the horizon there doesn't seem to be much in the way of tall buildings, so it may not be New York.
@RogerInHawaii It could be any where really because my dad use to take us all over the place but I don't remember much about going to Canada when I was younger, and because of the monorail also I was thinking of a fair, if the video was much more clear on here it probably help more
I don't think that's Palisades Park. Palisades Park was up on the top of the Palisades, way above the Hudson River. This park looks like it's much closer to the water's edge. Also, the bridge in the background does NOT look like the George Washington Bridge, which is what Palisades Park is near. In addition, none of those rides look familiar to me, and I went to Palisades Park nearly every summer in the 50s and 60s. Maybe this is Freedomland.
Thanks for the help I didn't think it was either after doing google search a few times looking at other videos. I did the name because I'm pretty sure its around the NY,NJ area since I lived in NY at those times and I know it can't be Freedomland because that park closed in 64 and I am about 3 or 4 in the movie so its around the early 70s. When I am not so busy working I will try to do more searching, my main landmark has been the bridge because then after that it shouldn't be hard to figure out
