Anybody who's ever sung on stage in a large venue knows that if your monitor has malfunctioned, you can't hear a damn thing. Looks to me like that's what happened.
Well, when the girl has a bit more experience she might be able to "hear around it". (For my part, I've also been performing for 20+ years, and I'm still completely helpless without a monitor, even in a smaller venue.)
Whether her monitor failed or not I have no idea. All I know is that a great deal of the anger expressed toward her is from failed, miserable people who'd give all they have to be her for ten minutes, but who'd shit in their pants if they ever appeared on a stage and had to sing.
For me, I'm not expressing anger or jealousy, just an opinion. I personally think she's a brilliant songwriter and has a fantastic image for young people. Singing lessons certainly never hurt anyone. However, perhaps "hearing" lessons, if such a thing exists, would be better. As noted I can sing pretty decently -- strictly backup vocals, mind you -- but without a monitor I can't even tell which voice I am in the mix, and all I can hear is mud.
My guitar player doesn't have that problem at all. Maybe hearing or failing to hear yourself in the mix is genetic?
It really is nice chatting with you. I sing lead and backups as well and I can say that I rely heavily on a monitor when singing backup too. Guitar players, now that's a different story...LOL! Amps behind all of us playing guitar, geesh.....without monitors, the vocals are drowned out. I'm just giggling to myself over the monitor mixes being so different for all of us on stage. I'm sure you have had some memorable experiences as well! LOL!!
Taylor is very young and was intimidated by her fav. singer. if you watch the live performance on the Relief for haiti, you can tell she can keep a perfect pitch. didn't they make that one of the main songs for haite relief? I have seen a few live performances and there were no pitch problems. anything can go wrong on a live performance. she had a bad night. listen to her live performance of a rhianna song i think it was "take a bow" she was great! she doesn't use recordings at her concerts.

Actually, country is the perfect genre for people with no talent. Well, at least it's one step up from rap, which requires ABSOLUTELY no talent.
I suppose that a country singer must be able to enunciate, a little, and be able to cover the distance between intervals. Sort of. With rap you don't have to worry about that.

Well, when the girl has a bit more experience she might be able to "hear around it". (For my part, I've also been performing for 20+ years, and I'm still completely helpless without a monitor, even in a smaller venue.)
Whether her monitor failed or not I have no idea. All I know is that a great deal of the anger expressed toward her is from failed, miserable people who'd give all they have to be her for ten minutes, but who'd shit in their pants if they ever appeared on a stage and had to sing.

Singing lessons certainly never hurt anyone. However, perhaps "hearing" lessons, if such a thing exists, would be better. As noted I can sing pretty decently -- strictly backup vocals, mind you -- but without a monitor I can't even tell which voice I am in the mix, and all I can hear is mud.
My guitar player doesn't have that problem at all. Maybe hearing or failing to hear yourself in the mix is genetic?

It really is nice chatting with you. I sing lead and backups as well and I can say that I rely heavily on a monitor when singing backup too. Guitar players, now that's a different story...LOL! Amps behind all of us playing guitar, geesh.....without monitors, the vocals are drowned out. I'm just giggling to myself over the monitor mixes being so different for all of us on stage. I'm sure you have had some memorable experiences as well! LOL!!

Taylor is very young and was intimidated by her fav. singer. if you watch the live performance on the Relief for haiti, you can tell she can keep a perfect pitch. didn't they make that one of the main songs for haite relief? I have seen a few live performances and there were no pitch problems. anything can go wrong on a live performance. she had a bad night. listen to her live performance of a rhianna song i think it was "take a bow" she was great! she doesn't use recordings at her concerts.

"Rhiannon" is a simple but powerful tune with energetic vocal of Stevie. Taylor's weak voice did not fit. We definitely need Christine McVie.
Actually the band is not bad. I love the guitar solo, showing some respect to the original Fleetwood Mac style.

I like some of Taylor's music. It took me awhile to come around to it, but I'm gettin used to it now and she's okay. But, the performances I've watched of hers live aren't that good. She doesn't sing good live, as alot of singers don't sing good live. That's how it is. It's hard to stay on key when ur performing. But, at least she doesn't lip sync like Britney Spears, Paula Abdul on AI last season because that's just annoying!

Taylor Swift's music has absolutely no substance in my opinion. All her songs have the same theme and they all pretty much sound the same. Her voice is mediocre to bad and she is a skinny blond bimbette.
BUT there are young girls all over the world who LIKE her music and can relate to what her songs are about and they enjoy her singing so it is all relevant as to whether she is truly talented. It all depends on who you ask.
