Even if you had a .22LR caliber SBR the ATF would say that its an evil weapon that requires registration and an extra tax. Like they don't already register any firearm that you buy at a FFL dealer. They just call it a background check or NICS. If that was so then why do they need to get the serial #?

Its pretty stupid that we have to register an SBR and pay a tax to own one. All about control. Big Brother wants to know what you have as if that will stop a criminal from committing a crime with an SBR. Obviously criminals don't care about the law. You can't buy one legally without all the bs paperwork because back then the govt scared people into saying they needed to be outlawed due to the mafia using the tommygun which had either a 10.5" barrel or 12" barrel but was also automatic.

@onyxpilot that won't happen. it will pretty much fall under the same ruling as the D.C. handgun ban. Why should civilians not be able to own sbr, automatic weapons and the such???

Yeah really. We can have SBR's, AOW's, SBS, autos, etc but they are somehow special and require a stupid tax and big bro registration. They way I see it is if you have no criminal record and could buy any other firearm then that should be it . The ATF 'rules' are a direct infringement on the 2nd which states that the right shall not be infringed. We got too many people watching American Idol and football rather than caring about rights granted in the constitution. The govt is outa control now.

There is EVERY reason for civies to own any weapon (other than WMD, obviously) that the military can own. It's just like fountainpower said. It's to keep the government in check. The 2nd Amendment isn't about duck hunting. Molon labe.

Sure there is....to make sure the govt stays in its place....serving the people. If I follow your logic there is no reason for fat people to own forks...and no reason for you to be able to vote either. That will just get in the way eventually. Your dems will lose big in 2010 so all your dreams of disarming the american people will soon vanish with them.
