The other video on you tube soundtrack is much better. Video sucks but you have Jon and the band Earth Quake on the backing track, so it really rocks vs this
See, they destroyed a happpy old neighborhood, full of dives and floozys to put up a hopeless square of bricks, bricks and an upside down brick spaceship. Lots of secretarys putting stamps on the letters, tho
@ManThatMovesAtoms The whole "Is This It?" album has this vibe for sure. I wonder if both were a beautiful mistake. I'm thinking The Strokes were trying to achieve this exact sound.
The liner notes on the CD version of their one and only album are worth a read. The album was released four years after it was made due to Richman refusing to kowtow to Warner's demand that he tour in support of the album. Richman wanted to tour, but with all new songs. The guy's 'fuck you' attitude was pure punk!
@AllTheCloudsArePink Can you even imagine this song? A band inspired by the Doors, the Velvet Underground, The MC5, praising the government? This is on a level the record labels are still having trouble with...
Re the lyrics: That would be "Ahearn" - in reference to Francis X. Ahearn if I'm not mistaken, a former Pres. of Boston City Council and Acting Mayor, among other things.
Gov. Centre, this is different version to the one that appeared on the beserkley compilation album "home of the hits" it had 3 M.L's songs inc It will stand but cant remember the 3rd
