  • so this dont work with windows 7 64 bit home premium? because it says "you are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode"

  • Why does Microsoft say that I need Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate to download XP mode? I'm trying to learn how to use Virtual Machine, but I can't figure out how to get anything to work.

A few years ago when I had Windows Vista on my laptop, I got the Ubuntu operating system to work, but I can't get it to work on 7. Why? Any help would be appreciated.

  • You actually dont need hardware virtualisation to run Virtual XP if you use Virtualbox the only time u need Virtualisation is when installing Snow Leopard. I have succesfully run Solaris, Linux, Windows XP and the Android OS from Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003 from Virtualbox inside Linux in the Ubuntu 10.04 partition of my computer which is the same machine that i have my Windows on.

  • I've heard you must have a motherboard that actually supports the virtual XP mode in BIOS. I was wondering if they're any side-effects to loading this program when you wish to use windows 7 in standard mode. is there a performance hit or other instabilities?

  • This is uploaded already on:

    downloadblinks . c__o__m

  • I had installed the update, but I keep getting the forced window that insists you install the update (WindowsApplicationUpdate). Once I install said update, the website doesn't reconize the update, and continues to insist that I install the update. Not sure what to do. Help?

  • it says idont have the right virsion of windows

  • @bunny101499 You need Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate. You can get a legit trial of Enterprise from Microsoft's website.

  • Is it possible to install games to the windows xp mode, I got some games which don't work on my windows 7 os.

  • @MannenQ18plus u dun need virtual machine for that..all u need is click on that game .exe n select trouble shoot compatibility option. check videos on trouble shoot compatibility :)

  • Hello - I have a Question - In my PC i have Win'7 OS and also I have downloaded and insttalled the Virtual XP mode - Then I have installed Lotus Notes in XP Mode. The Problem is after Migration of my PC to Doman Environment - at the XP mode the Lotus notes software and Icon have disappeared - Need advice.,

  • My PC has 2 GB or RAM but the upgrade advisor tells me I really have 1.8 GB. You need a total of 2 GB to run XP mode. Can my PC run XP mode? Reason I'm asking is b/c I heard that Vista downgrades your hardware and I'm running Vista Home Basic.

  • he plays crossfire....nice man

  • Hi there, o/

  • lets say, i have a game installed on my windows 7..will u be able to run on the virtual xp mode? like run the game simultaneously?

  • I run Windows 7 in VirtualBox on Linux Mint.

  • Windows 7 is available to download on:

  • When i open it all it does is open up a folder..

  • i cant configure my bios thow there ain the option for the hardware virtualizeation

  • does virtual XP need its own internet security within W7?

  • Sims 3 is available to download on:

    down load blinks . C () M

  • So, can you play games on XP mode that only work on XP or is XP mode only for specific programs?

  • what are the requirements?

  • it wont let me what windows 7 do you have i have home premium

  • @pacmon99 It's only for Professional and Ultimate.

  • @Costerguy1234556 In the case of Windows 7 home edition, you can run XP on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. You could, of course, have your PC in dual-boot mode. As I only had the upgrade edition of XP, the latter was not an option. I would also like to say that there is a help file missing from Windows 7 that is present on XP. Certain programs run on XP need that file, or else they will not run on Windows 7. Never fear, the missing file can be downloaded.

  • can you make a tut on how to use two mice on one or two monitors but i should be on the same computer?

  • how do u make it into a window

  • It does compatible on my computer because my processor is Intel Pentium E5200 processor? (I'm running pirated Windows 7 Ultimate) xD

  • What's the point of XP mode anyway???

  • wait so say i have a mac and i want to instal windows vista. does it give me the software for windows vista or do i have to buy it?

  • Guys, download windows XP mode update, then you won't need hardware assisted virtualization!

  • hi can you test if you can run NCH express scribe?

  • i have a compaq presario cq50, how do i change my bios?? i almost restored my computer holding down one of the function keys..

  • How do I back up my files, and restore them? And do I have to? I have windows xp 32 bit and want to get windows 7 64 bit. I don't care about my files but I don't know why or how to back up files and restore them. also why can't i buy the $100 windows 7 cd? • @BlackScorpio999 yes ultimate does, as well as Professional, and Enterprise

  • @bluelink113 thanks =) i got windows 7 ultimate now and it's awesome =) i might download xp mode later :)

    thanks for the info

  • Horrendous sentence structure, you fail.

  • @speckyprick ur an idiot

  • I installed Windows 7 on a new drive. I then boot my old XP drive in VMWare, so I can run my old machine and new machine at the same time.

  • Seems a load of hype over nothing. Vista and XP could run a Virtual PC. This is just a fancy version that doesn't give much more benefits. Although I admit the virtualization feature is nice but you need a processor that supports it.

  • This feature was primarily intended for the enterprise market. While it can be used with Home Premium, it is pre-loaded on Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate only. The system takes a while because what happens is that Microsoft not only gives you the Virtual PC, but also sets everything up for you, and even registers the copy of Windows XP that comes with the machine. This is handy for businesses that need to get stuff done, because there's no worrying about setup and registration and such.

  • yeh but vista was atrocious at virtual pc

  • Turns out though that Windows Virtual PC 2007 works on Windows 7. I'm running Windows 98 on my Win 7 install.

  • A Windows with an XP virtual PC included for compatibility? --- Merde... we gotta expect a lot of incompatibilities with our usual software in "7".

I guess we better wait for Windows 7 SP2!!!!

  • i actually thinks it because microsoft want to make xp obselete

  • whats the point of windows xp vertual pc

  • in case there is a Program windows 7 cant run, you can switch to virtual windows xp so you can run it on there with no issues =]

  • I havent seen Virtual PC much, when i get home i will download it, but i do know that VMware Server 1, is actually a really good Virtual Machine Server, you guys should check that out if this doesnt work for you

  • I have a question can I run games on windows xp mode?? how stable will it be? how much ram will windows 7 and windows xp mode take up then if you add gaming to it how much ram will tkae take up???

  • lol n00b

  • Getting windows 7 and gonna install it for virutal pc, heard its good :)

  • It says "Windows Virtual PC requires hardware-assisted virtualization. There is no hardware-assisted virtualization support in the system"

Is there anyway I can download that?

  • Always check the description :)

  • Yeah I did I download that Program and It didn't work!

  • No no no, you need to enable hardware virtualization in your BIOS, at the bottom of the linked page.

  • Your processor, Intel or AMD, MUST be capable to virtualization tecknology. Recently I bought a E7400 Core 2 Duo and I'm frustrated because it isn't capable to do that. Starting E8400 they are.

  • Since Windows 2000 times, your can run a guest operating system using "Microsoft Virtual PC". You can download it for free from Microsoft site. The new software for W7 is "Windows Virtual PC" actually in Beta. As the most important features are the use of the USB ports from the host W7 and you can run installed application on the guest XP directly from the host W7 as we saw on the video. BUT, you need a processor with Virtualization.

  • your cpu that is....it does not support virtualisation technology...u gotta buy a new one that supports...i.e. the Q6600

  • Very cool!

  • cool i'll try it out
