In a similar amount of time an average person will develop great self defense The average person will develop excellent skills using Adam's method, and it will take that average person further. There is a learning curve in any style or method, as with Krav Maga there is a learning curve. One would do well to get into a method that delivers power, develops speed and ability to check, stop hit the attacker jamming him up so he struggles to continue.
hi adam what a great video! your skill is still superior i am still a big fan of your work and i plan on coming back to train soon! I can't wait to watch the full movie!!!
This applies to anyone adam... Jeet Kune Do is more of an ideal than a martial art. Its a set of thought guidelines under which to change. Advanced or beginner, you have to start somewhere.
Great instruction and skill. The average person is not that quick however and many that are that fast, lack the power you display. That being said, do you think that this style would be good for the average person? Or should they try Krav Maga or boxing?
@lookahere I feel the stuff would work without crazy speed or power as long as one keeps it direct and is coach properly, i just flash it up and go fast for youtube demo purposes - training is different , more direct to get it done quick. PS. Boxing and Krav is good .
Thanks everyone for the comments , I appreciate it !
I was just wondering because I have trained in kempo and boxing for about 20yrs and the first thing people want to do is match my speed. But I try and tell them to slow down and learn the technique and proper application first. So I wanted to know if your style would be better for them to try or krav maga. Either way I think they should be patient and learn all aspects of whatever style they choose. Thanks for responding dude.
Astounding, Adam; shame that Segal keeps getting movies when you're a walking sonnet in the art of combat. Given the abundance of foolishness masquerading as MA, what led you through all the BS and into your current state of mastery? Perhaps more importantly for students, how does one identify a bona fide maestro worthy of training under?
@pukeachu I am definitely no master and when i say that i am being honest not trying to be modest....I will always be a student - this stuff have to keep evolving. For me, the way to recognize effectiveness from a basic self defense point of view is when a coach can shut down an UNSTAGE attack within 3-5 seconds AND can get his students to do the same within a reasonable time frame.

@sspma I totally agree which is why I am quick to tell people to try different styles to find the one/ones that fit them. I've done what I do for so many years that it is now as natural to me as walking. These kids now days want to be fast right now. They don't want to take the time to develop real skill. Sign of the times I guess. Thanks for your response friend.

@flynchyb interesting observation. However I have seen Adam kick in person and must say he kicks hard enough to break legs.

This guy is a legend! I know only 2 other people who move like him, and one of them is dead!
The greatest fighters in the world recognise him and he's still not famous? What's up with that?
